Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

Again there is still a full campaign and side missions, it's not like all i care about are the Riddler trophies so stop being so dramatic with "selling your game".

Bruh, the Batmobile is a wreck and taints the entire game. If you want to play an Arkham game that's worse than the first (because of the Battank), by all means, go ahead. If you're okay with remorse, go ahead

This person sums it up — this CAN'T be ignored:

-Batmobile in general is crappy.

-100% Riddler trophies (200+) needed for true ending.

-Bad chase sequences.

Face the facts.

Geez some on of you need to stop being sensitive. These AAA review threads run like clock work. Bucnh of great scores but one little sorta negative review and everyone loses their mind!

Games looks fantastic. Steam code redeemed. Overpriced Titan X ready. Lets fucking go!

"IGN: And let us spoil it for you!"

Pre-load has been active on PS4 and XBox One for a couple days on the former and like a week on the latter I think. No Steam pre-load yet though

I didn't find it on PS4. It still has a countdown. I double checked the store, library, restored licenses, and then looked to see if it was downloading in the background. Nothing was pre-loading.

Good friend of mine works for a Mom and Grop shop, started playing Arkham Knight on the 18th and he says he's several hours in and is absolutely loving every minute. Rocksteady's Batman opus.

And he probably loves the Batmobile. You have a few sour grapes and everyone thinks the vine is bad.

I know you're trolling but Asylum ended up being the most solid game of the quadrology. Funny how adding shit to a good thing doesn't make the thing better, only the same, but with shit.
In your opinion perhaps, lots of others and most reviewes thinks AC was better and a big improvement.

I'm talking about the focus on a 94-95 Metacritic score, as that's what I was replying to. Not 85 like with Obsidian and how publishers handled their bonuses. That's still a publisher concern, not as much importance with the developers. Which is still an awful practice that should be done away with, if it hasn't already.
No one on planet earth earns 95+ Metascores on consecutive games, unless you're Rockstar. I'm pretty sure expectations were tempered a bit from 2011's 96 Metascore Arkham City, but there's no doubt Warner Bros would've been happier with a 95 than with a sub-90 game, which is what we're likely looking at when all is said and done. So from that perspective, it's not the resounding critical success as the other Rocksteady Batman games.

So you've played the game?

Am I the only person who collected all the Riddler stuff in every game? :o

I sorta liked them in AA and AC, AO was uninspired and just had them all over with no reason.

I still think that the batmobile should have been useable but not relied on at all, make it a supercar design and have it just for shits and giggles.

I dunno, City was pretty great too and Origins was a different team.

It's not that they adding shit is bad, it's that adding bad shit is bad. Everyone was saying from the start that the batmobile was a poor idea from day 1, but the devs stuck with it and ignored that feedback to the game's detriment.

Knight could have easily gone the GTA route and just made a bigger, more detailed city with switchable protagonists and more intuitive vehicles.

Let's face it, what we really needed was a jetpack/booster for the glide. That would have been infinitely more intuitive and useful, solving both the "traversal takes too long" issue and the "traditional vehicles are too clunky" issue at once.

I've seen reports that all side missions + riddler trophies must be completed to get the true/real ending.

AC might be the better gme, but it is more imperfect than Asylum.

Nope. I hope you liked the SNES era because we're back in time it seems. Good job Rocksteady.

No. He's for real.
Well, I suppose that's in the spirit of the Batman Arkham games to begin with so I can't be too upset. Gotta say, their trophy stuff in AC was well done so hopefully AK one-ups it somehow.

Sorta shocked this is the case, nonetheless.

Perhaps, but than again, it turned out adding some "shit" to AA like a much bigger environment, new mechanics, riddles ect wasn't such a bad idea.

What i mean is that the Batmobile could have turned out great, it's not necessarily a bad idea, it's just that it could have been better implemented.

But they were SO FUN last time, everyone loved them! Who didn't get the ultra merry 436918467 Arkham City trophies? I mean fuck, they added them being tied to the super awesome batmobile for EXTRA FUN.

I got 100% Riddler trophies in Asylum and City and enjoyed doing it. The Riddler race track they showed with the alternating colored blocks looks like a vehicle-based Super Mario Galaxy level. I'm not ready to write this stuff off yet.

How? Aside from being removed completely

I'm sensing some bitterness. Are you not excited by this news? I'm excited by this news. Remember the first game when the only result of completing all the riddler stuff was an audio recording of
him being arrested?
Rockstar has upped the ante each installment. This is much better.

YouTube it

I know that's the logical thing to do but I've gotta earn the best ending.

*Detective mode engaged* Double spaces between sentences. Strange. Enhance.

Rockstar instead of Rocksteady. That's it. Alfred, this poster is on mobile. Hacking into Gotham cellular towers to track his location.

Not forcing it would be a good start, remove combat againt drones, it's not fun shooting robots, the video where he chased the henchman and blew his car was cool, that's a good example for a great implementation of the Batmobile.

This is their last Batman game. Probably our last Batman game in some time, and almost assuredly the last shot at an ultra high quality Batman game until next gen or something. They had the template, and they added lots of good stuff, but not only kept the bad (Boring bossfights, overnumbered riddle trophies, edgy try hard story) but they added just another layer of unneccesaryness. I'm just frustrated, that's all. Day one still, I mean, of course.
How many different endings are there?
As I would have thought there just would have been one final definitive ending.
Two. The normal one, the 100% one.

You have to use the batmobile to chase that guy, which means it's forced

Try again.

Riddler challenges were on point in AA. Tad tedious in AC but nothing to cry over. Didn't bother with Origins since the MP trophies fucked up my hype to platinum the game. Completing the challenges were rewarding and fun imo. The endings for the first 2 were hilarious.

Wait, did I read that correctly? You need to get ALL riddler trophies AND do all the side missions for the true ending?

What in the absolute fuck?! Side missions is fine, and I love that shit, but those trophies can fuck off! ALL of them too. They were fine in the first game, but then I stopped caring in City and Origins. What gives, Rocksteady?

I loved getting them so ner. I'd take a 100 more.

I actually liked the Riddler trophies. Obtuse and heavy handed sure but I've always had fun with them, thought the design was nicely old school.

Was gonna 100% anyway so no skin off my bones!

Why? we've just seen a gif of Batman taking a guy out of his car by his bare hands, you should think again.

It wasn't the same guy/car shown getting chased by the Batmobile that you referred to from the Officer Down trailer

You're force into calling the Batmobile and it's forced upon you and you have to use it to chase him down

There's no escape from the shitty Batmobile. Your suggested improvements wouldn't work better than removing it entirely. The section you mentioned that was good use of it was forced.

You spend more time in the Batmobile than out of it based on what's been shown

You may want to reconsider playing this.

My hype meter just flatlined. I don't know that I can bring it back.

It will be interesting to see how they force you out of it for every battle, though. It would be all-too-tempting to sit in there and run down every enemy otherwise.

The true ending will be uploaded on YouTube in like 4 days after some bored guy did the Banjo Tooie Riddler collect-a-thon.

Like who cares tbh

you still got the shitty batmobile sections to deal with though, so look forward to that
