Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

Well, I mean, the game obviously has a pretty soft look for 1080p, even looking at pictures from the share button. Compare a 1080p Share screenshot of Arkham Knight compared to Infamous Second Son:

Still looks amazing, regardless.
On PC people are going to turn all that crap off and have some nice crisp screens soon enough. I do not understand why Second Son is the rare occurrence on having crisp IQ. Sometimes subtlety is good as well.

I can't wait to play this on Tuesday! I am not too worried about the lack of preload on Steam, as my internet is fast enough to download this within about 2hrs. The preloads always take up twice as much space anyway, so its not really worth it when factoring in download time and decryption. I hope it runs well on my GTX970, at least 1080p 60FPS with everything maxed minus dumb nVidia GameWorks effects.

Nvidia Gameworks isn't dumb. They are pretty much the only features that push tech to new highs. Just because our graphics cards can't handle them at a reasonable fps doesn't make them dumb. Some company has to push the tech further -- might as well be the leading company in graphics tech.

so I may not even be able to get this at gamestop does anyone know if walmart with stock this mofo on Tuesday morning??????

Of course they will. I mean, it'll take you 30 minutes to find an employee in the electronics section in typical Wal-Mart fashion but eventually, they'll wander on through and let you buy the game.

Textures look very blurred in the Batman screen even though it's showing way more on screen than ISS.

Shadow of Mordor said the same thing (another WB title) and still released at midnight anyways.

Let's hope so. I think this is the last WB game I get digitally. I don't think this roller coaster is over yet. Now we have to wait for GMG to cough up our keys. And that alone could take us into Tuesday.

I have no idea why developers insist on absolutely RUINING the look of their game with this blurry shit.

I think it's just that the whole render outside of the HUD is blurry. I don't think it's sub-1080p, but it's definitely got some post-processing AA and effects making it look worse.

But yeah, there's a LOT of detail in these scenes. I love it.

Oh you want to finish the game? Here's some tank gameplay. You didn't like that? Here's some tank gameplay. Tank. Tank. Tank. Tank. Tank.

Didn't need to restart Steam, I should've just checked it, yay for compressed files being downloaded in about 90 minutes.

Well, let me tell you of a little UE3 game called mortal kombat X.........

They used UE3? MKX having all those problems is even worse considering it's a fighting game opposed to open world, yikes.

WHAT. My LE from Amazon now says "Arriving Thursday" instead of Tuesday. Ugh.

Now, I shouldn't too mad since I'm not arriving home from my honeymoon until Thursday night anyway, but I'm just worried it will get delayed again.

Man, if I wasn't going on my honeymoon tomorrow and was waiting for the game ON Tuesday, I would be fuming right now, lol.

I'd still contact Amazon, might as well get whatever compensation you can.

*tears of joy*...Only 34GB though? Was the original 45GB including DLC and day 1 update?

The files are likely compressed... Or it's only a partial download.

TBH, I'm kind of expecting the game to run pretty well even with the GameWorks/Physx stuff even on a "lowly" 970. There's no way this game is more demanding as the Witcher 3 with HairWorks running.

*shrug* I like the way BAK looks compared to Infamous, at least going by those screens. Infamous looks WAY too clean but that's just me.

At least its not CA, which I actually do like
having the option to immediately turn off.

I have a copy in the mail from Best Buy coming with my ~30% E3 discount from last year, and have another copy pre-ordered at EB. Best Buy usually sends promo codes via e-mail, so use that, open the EB copy with the Red Hood stuff, return the still-wrapped Best Buy copy to EB, and voila

I'll have two pre-order bonuses and a cheaper game.

Can't believe this shit.

Pre-loading now. My GTX 970 is ready!

Hmmm, ordered the comic bundle and it says this:

Not yet shipped
Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date.

Ordered via Amazon. Hope I get it Tues.

Agreed, except that I hate TXAA. It's expensive and looks awful.

preload done.

Anyone know if there is a for sure way to check if this comes with the preorder dlc now? I did that ID check thing before, but now is there an actual for sure way to see since its included?

Heh, I was getting close to my max DL speed (it's usually between 7-8MB/s) for the first 3.5GB but it's dropped off under 1MB/s since and spending a lot of time in the 200KB/s range. I feel bad for those who have that as their max DL speed.

Yeah, it's dropped for me too, but I don't mind, it's not going to be available until after midnight anyway.

Can you download them now? I'm getting some error when i try.

Ce 37700 7 i think

I'm part of the problem but I'm a sucker for batman

People have said they've been having issues with content redemption so I'd wait until tomorrow tonight, it doesn't seem to work now.

Even though it only cost me $69 out of pocket in total, I'm the biggest problem. All three versions, all with Season Passes.

You're not exactly wrong. But....they are so awesome. The hit to performance is not worth it on non Nvidia hardware, but the Scarecrow/Raas Al Ghul segments were waaayyyy better because of all the added PhysX particles. It's superfluous, but it's awesome and add's a layer/level of believability and life to a scene that otherwise feels very sterile and isolated. Arkham Asylum was especially guilty of this. The added effects made Asylum feel more like a real place. Smashing dudes into the tile floors and watching the floors break around the bad guy. It's awesome.

GMG tends to give out keys after the game has already released, so bear that in mind.

I'm preloading on Steam but hollleeeeee shiet it's going slow. Not that it matters right now since we're still about 27-ish hours from release.

welp, pre-loaded on steam and ready to go.

I'm not one to buy very many games day 1 so I probably wouldn't have this yet, but i got it as part of nvidia's 970/980 deal.

witcher 3, arkham knight, and a solid GPU for $320 was too good of a deal.
