I can't believe people are still buying this game.
See I don't really get that how they fucked it up. I think the collectors edition stuff is the only thing I am seeing that's a fuck up but the expansion in general sounds really good and I don't believe they announced it all. so why are your group so pissed off about it?
I think people wanted this expansion to be a game-changing expansion.
I really didn't think Bungie could have handled the DLC any worse. All this interview has taught me is if I want Destiny 2, it's best to wait at least a year after the initial launch to get the real game. I never say this, but I hope Destiny 2 bombs with the way they've handled the DLC.
That's completely fair, I think it's complete crap how they are handling that. I really think they need to do something to correct that asap. For us?
What would constitute a game-changing expansion?
The addition of new subclasses and a new patrol zone already makes this seem pretty different than previous DLC.
Just wait for the end of the 10 year deal and they will bundle it all up for $60 and give you extra stuff that those who were dedicated over the 10 years don't have. This way they also suck more money from the loyal fans.
Why couldn't Bungie just publish this game themselves? It seems like all this crap is from the Activision suits.
Because then it stops being about the loot. And you don't want it to be about the playable content, there's not much of it. If they let you keep the same damn weapons throughout next year....what's the fucking point of exotics when you have a Gjallahorn. What's the point of auto rifles or fusion rifles when you have a fatebringer. In PvP, why even have anything other than the Thorn or Last Word or Hawkmoon?
That's not fun. Using the same damn gun through new content is not fun. Maybe let us 'transmorgrify' the look of a weapon like WoW, but don't let us carry the weapon. There will be no vertical progress.
God, such a shitty system. It was so much fun doing Trials and seeing Thorn and Last word every damn match, it's also fun using the goddamn Fatebringer because no other handcannon is good enough along with a Gjallahorn because no other exotic is strong enough.
I hope after reading some responses here, some people understand how fucked over Destiny fans feel ._.;
1. Using the same weapons would would not be an issue if there is enough content that loot wasn't such big focus.
2 Using the same weapons would not be an issue if most of new exotics and legendary gear weren't shit.
I still see little reason to use any weapons other than Fatebringer/VOC/Gjallarhon in PvE.
That is content that simply adds to what you can play. By game-changing, I mean something that makes everything about the game different in a meaningful way. Something that would make going back to the Vault of Glass feel like a new experience. Perhaps a new mechanic that changes combat. Perhaps a significant change to the current world zones. Perhaps a restructure on how quests and xp are handled. Something that goes beyond simply adding new strikes, a zone, weapons and gear and a raid. Warframe has done this at time with updates that significantly changes how the game plays as a whole.

2. Retailers will not accept being undercut by digital download games. Therefore, the digital TTK CE has to be the same price as the retail TTK CE. If Bungie were to offer a $60 digital download of TTK CE, Gamestop would freak out. The fact that the TTK CE is a Gamestop exclusive is already an indication that retailer interest in a CE is pretty low.
Thus you end up with a situation where TTK CE has to be $80 in both digital and physical form, despite the fact that physical owners get way more bang for their buck. I wish that Bungie had held their ground on this one though.
What game-changing expansions did Warframe have? Do you think that the new subclasses will not change the way people play?
I think I mostly just want to see new raid/strike bosses that have interesting mechanics.
In a nutshell.
If guns were fun and unique to use, it wouldn't be much of an issue. But..well...Gjallahorn is fun and completely strong to use.
Eat a dick

Feels like Bungie behavior to me. Consistent with the other choices they've made (little to no in-game matchmaking of any kind, lore presented completely out of the game, incoherent story presented in the game).
"If I fired up a video right now and showed you the emotes you would throw money at the screen."
you clipped out the rest of his post and basically proved his point that you're just using the same old setup we've been running for months now since "Vanilla" btw
To list a few things.
-Completely reworked the way melee worked to make it a bigger part of the combat
-Completely reworked how mods and damage types scaled and how different enemies take damage
-Significantly changed how Warframes were modified with mods
Yeah, definitely.
It's probably a topic for a different thread, but how is Destiny that different from Bungie-Halo games?
Halo had little-to-none matchmaking for PVE content, story/lore buried in novels, and a relatively threadbare in-game narrative.
Uhh, no that isn't equivalent at all. For example, imagine if Bungie completely reworked how the skill tree worked in Destiny. Would you say that would be game-changing? What if they made melee work completely differently? Both in the damage it can do, where it is applicable, what kind of effects it can put on enemies, etc. Same for gun skill trees and so on. Those are not the same kinds of changes as upping the damage on a weapon type.I don't see how this is that different than what's been done with Destiny. A few patches ago they doubled the damage that shotguns do in PVE. Is that a game-changer as well? Having not played Warframe, maybe I am in the dark as to how Bungie can significantly change the gameplay.
It sucks that we no longer have a community manager from Bungie post on GAF. Urk and Frankie always did such a great job with the Bungie Weekly Updates.
Deej knows that GAF hates him so he just sticks on Reddit... GAF doesn't tolerate bullshit and he comes off as incredibly disingenuous every time he speaks. I almost wonder if Deej is a robot.

absolutely hilarious. "Also existing players can be happy, because we have prepared some absolutely ridiculous junk for them"... I think this is really disrespctful and I feel bad for you Destiny fans :/.players will be even more excited. And for existing players it also comes with the Founder's pack with a new Sparrow, shader and emblem."
That's what I am not getting. The Taken King will have 3 completely new skill trees across 3 classes. Maybe they are game changers and maybe they aren't, but it seems a little early to say.
Well. They've entirely overhauled the progression systems, the materials and currency economies, done two major sandbox rebalancings (and several targeeted), made major changes to the new legendary and exotic weapon perk trees, added new public events to the patrol spaces (twice), and more. The game has been out for nine months. We've seen indications they are revisiting the base six shipping subclasses with TTK and further refining the upgrade systems.
Not overhauling the core gameplay mechanics is not something to criticize - that is one aspect of the game they nailed out the gates. They've overhauled nearly every system surrounding the combat since launch.
I'm not a Destiny fan, so I have the luxury of finding this here:

This entire bruhaha is over equally "worthless junk" - a handful of cosmetic items in the (over priced) digital CE.
The simple solution, which Bungie should adopt post haste, is to give the existing player base, who own the game and the expansions, the digital bonus content in the CE as the the year one thank you package. Boom, problem solved, no spin required.
It's a great value for new players that buy physical copies. For the hardcore fans they just need to throw the digital collectors content into the $40 package and all will be well.
Could have all been avoided if they went the wolfenstein route though. It's a long road till September and a lot can change.
I hate how the digital collectors edition is the same price as the physical version, minus the cool physical collectors items.
