Usually it involves Superman's desire to not punch Batman's head off immediately, even if he can do that with ease.

That's interesting. I always had it in my mind that Gotham was more or less representative of Chicago and Metropolis was more or less representative of NYC. I was not basing that assumption on anything in particular (although the Chicago link might be because Nolan used Chicago as a reference point for Gotham in his Batman films), but it is nice to have a visual idea of where DC intended them to be officially.
I think making the two cities twin cities that are right next to each other is also really interesting, and it probably best serves the purposes of this movie. I also think that this is going to contrast really nicely with Marvel's movies, and DC seems to be indirectly solving the issue of "why isn't superhero A helping out in Superhero B's city because this crisis is a potentially world-destroying event?" by having all these superheroes together during these types of events (we come to find out that Bruce Wayne was actually at Metropolis during Man of Steel), and I'm sure Wonder Woman (she's in it so there's that), Cyborg, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and Flash are going to be explained as well as far as what they were doing or if they even exist yet officially.

Most of the time it's just Batman annoying Superman until he runs out of gadgets. Add Kyrptonite sometimes when Batman sort of wins.

Pretty much this. In almost every iteration, Superman is intentionally holding back, while Batman is doing his best (usually his best involves strategically thinking through the fight because he can't beat Supes in pure strength). I imagine that Superman in Batman v. Superman won't be literally trying to kill Batman instantly. I wouldn't be surprised if Zod was brought up as a comparison point for Superman -- "You killed Zod because you perceived him as a threat, why not Batman?"

Either way that's a pretty brilliant way to address people's complaints about Superman tearing up the city. Make it a big part of Dawn of Justice's plot.

I've only read one comic where Batman fights the Boy Scout. Has he ever had a magic assist by Zatanna or Fate in any of the comics?
It's not old footage, it's just a new perspective that was shot with Bruce Wayne being in Metropolis during the Zod fight to make their scuffle far more personal.

Not that I can recall. In the Injustice comics (non-continuity) Batman tries to recruit Constantine, but that's about it. Usually if magic is involved in a Superman fight, it's Shazam/Captain Marvel/Billy.

What if the Batsuit is made of Zod's suit? Sure it doesn't clear up everything, but the suit doesn't look like a typical Batsuit.

I gotta say, I love the shot of Bruce running into the dust cloud. Sums it all up nicely.
Also: you want to know how good the premise of this movie is? We are, in this thread, having the exact same conversation the characters are going to all through the movie. Is Superman to blame for the disaster in Metropolis? Is he a threat to humanity or a savior? What's his role in the world? Does he have one?

I am relatively confused by this trailer. It gives the impression that Batman has only now begun operating in Gotham, but the Robin outfit implies he's probably been at it for years. The Suicide Squad trailer implies that supervillains have only recently surfaced thanks to the appearance of Superman, but if Joker has already killed Robin then obviously they have a history that stretches back some time. What gives? I never saw Man of Steel, so maybe there's something in there that makes it more clear.

People with powers have only recently begun popping up in this timeline. Batman has been around for a while but he's more of a myth to people than Superman. Supposedly he hasn't even been caught on camera in his entire career.
I really think they need to go out of their way differentiating between Clark and Superman as personas. I always heard as a kid "HOW COME NO ONE CAN TELL," but I imagine in this day and age that will increase tenfold.

Batman has been a thing for something like 20 years, though most people think he's an urban legend. Supervillains (in the sense of villains with superhuman powers) are apparently a relatively recent phenomenon, though exactly where they draw the line on "super" is unclear. The Joker has clearly been around for a while, and it's possible some other members of Bat's rogue gallery skirt under the line like Croc. If I had to guess, Enchantress and El Diablo are most of what Waller's talking about.

Robin's suit seems to be made of the same material, so I doubt it. The armor is probably built at least partially on Kryptonian tech. Rumor has it
it's got some Kryptonite laced in it.
It seems to be that Batman and supervillains have existed tor awhile. Most seems to just be Suicide Squad level people though so either really well trained humans, slight mutans like Killer Croc and lower leveled power people like El Diablo. At some point Batman retired.

The couple of milliseconds of Batman moving in the normal suit where he isn't obviously CGI look pretty neat. That bit where he's tearing through some dudes looks faster and more exciting than any previous live action Bat-fight.
So I guess Wayne Enterprises has a tower in Metropolis as well. Makes sense. Gotham probably has LexCorp towers around (they're even in Arkham Knight).
So will Bruce find Superman a threat because he "helped" destroy a city or will he take it more personal since he destroyed Wayne tower and might be a threat to Gotham as well. Seems slightly unlike Batman to worry about a different city's safety if it has nothing to do with Gotham or his family.
Also, having older Bruce Wayne around as an experienced Batman when Superman is just starting is a little weird. Letting Superman know where the fuck he is.
He views Superman as responsible for the deaths of dozens of Wayne Enterprises employees, not to mention being a threat to humanity at large.
If Batman had been operating and then retired, that makes some sense.
But why is there the news report audio of "This Bat vigilante is like a one-man reign of terror"? Why is there a discussion of whether or not Clark Kent should be reporting on Batman? It intentionally gives the impression that Batman has only recently surfaced.
If Warner/DC wants to build a 10-20 year cinematic universe, it doesn't make a lot of sense to introduce a Batman that is already really long in the tooth.....though to be honest I do really like the idea of Superman bringing a retired Bats back into the fray.
I mean, here's an outlandish idea, we could wait until the movie comes out to make judgments about how Batman fits into the universe
What judgment am I making? Some elements of the trailer are confusing, so I am asking better-informed geeks for some kind of clarification. At worst it's just a criticism of how the trailer was cut, and not really an evaluation of the story or universe the filmmakers have created.
