I haven't gone through the entire thread so forgive me if this has been discussed before, but right here:

Are we thinking this could be an Aquaman flashback perhaps? Or something else entirely?

he did a pretty poor job of dumping it if some kid in goggles was able tofind it.

Could be the origin of kryptonite. Maybe the world engine changed everything in that part of the ocean.

That was an excellent trailer. I've always been more of a Marvel guy but something as simple as showing Bruce witnessing Zod's eye beams slicing though that building was enough to start the stitching together in my mind of something resembling a cinematic universe and I was hyped.

I disagree with people like AngryJoe who are saying "look you guys, all along it was a plan to have so much destruction in MoS so that would set up the events in BvS." I think DC wasn't sure at all if MoS was going to be the start of their universe or not when making it since there is absolutely no universe building beyond your usual sequel set-up stuff. I would buy the "it was the plan all long" if there was something of the repercussions of the fight with Zod at the end of MoS. Instead it just rushes to Clark Kent happily working at what seems like a back-to-normal, fully functioning Daily Bugle. I think they have made lemonade from all the lemons (bad reactions to the carnage in MoS) by turning it into a major plot point in BvS. It actually makes me like MoS a bunch more. It would also be a good idea to point out and make it canon that Supes was still learning his powers at that point, maybe even have him struggle with having to learn to "hold back" so to speak.

Zod and his goons were literally genetically bred for combat scenarios, Clark wasn't. Theres your answer. When Clark fights Faora and the big guy, they wore masks that blocked the atmosphere while benefiting from the sun. It was also 2 against 1.

Combat scenarios makes them great fighters/strategists. Kryptonian strength on Earth is directly proportional to how long they've been absorbing the yellow sun. Even with their combat experience they would have struggled severely against Clark who's been on Earth for at least 20 years at that point. Strength and speed wise Clark should be on an entirely different level than Zod and Co.

Honestly the first real punch from Clark should have snapped their necks. But that would have been hella boring so I can understand making Zod and Faora his equal after being on Earth for all of 7 hours.

I don't think that's how it works.

Things like invulnerability are instantaneous. It's mastery of your powers that takes time. The atmosphere masks were protecting Zod and his crew from getting their ocular powers. It seems like their suits were weighing them down from flight, or perhaps blocking enough of the solar radiation to make their powers of propulsion limited (leaps rather than full-fledged flight).

So the way I understood it Clark was just more adept at knowing and using his powers, but all Kryptonians are capable of the same base level strength, resilience and power-set when exposed to yellow sun radiation.

That's definitely how it works in the comics, so if the movie is different then I'll concede the point.

When he walks into the courtroom it borderline looks like a parody. The suit is way too pumped up.

Other than that I'm excited!

Why is batman so hurt? Didn't he have tons of collateral damage during his battles?

Any fallout from his battles is probably dwarfed by the lives lost and property damage caused by Zod alone. Batman broke a few cheap ceramic plates, Supes and Zod took out the whole china shop.

Does anyone realize how smart this trailer was? In this scene it's like Batman is getting his introduction to this universe when Superman broke the doors to welcome him and the Dark Knight Rises. I bet that one scene they're going to talk it out and team up.

The coolest part of the trailer, I hope they just hug it out right after. I really want them to become super friends super quick, I don't want to have to sit through more than a few minutes of them trying to fight or out-brood each other.

I still can't get over the fact of how PERFECT Affleck is for Bruce Wayne.

Like, shit, it makes me baffled that he was hated on when he was first announced.

That's really... um... nice. You're a Superman fan, yes? Just so you know, there's one man on earth that can (and has in the past) drop the Big Blue Boy Scout. He's the goddamn Batman.

And no offense, but he doesn't hug.

The destruction was probably addressed based on reactions, but I think many of the plot points such as the world being fearful of a being like Superman were hinted at in MoS, given Pa Kent's speeches.

YES. Is this too much to ask? I don't need much else out of this movie, just the original trio, being fully aware of the power they wield and what they represent, and trying to save the world. Nothing complicated.

Then you should skip the movie and wait for Justice League. Because what you are asking for is not going to happen until the very end of this movie. Prob the last 30 minutes.

Begrudging acceptance at most

I could actually see this scene being where they team up. Superman just being like "enough".

The eventual handshake could be as epic as the Dillon/Dutch handshake in Predator. Could be.

You know i saw all these different Bruce Wayne in DC animation and I was l saw that Bale and Clooney and all the rest were just actors playing batman. Then I saw the shot of Bruce holding the girl and I said to myself , THAT is the true Bruce Wayne I remember from the DC animation shows

Still can't get over how great smarmy ass Lex is. I think Jesse has got it down so far. People are putting down the direction of skewing younger/more modern but I think character wise, having a younger Lex grow older from young entrepreneur to grizzled businessman as Superman stays relatively the same in terms of fitness is just the kind of thing that would get under Lex's skin.

What are the chances the music at the end of the trailer is actually a hint at Junkie XLs Batman theme?

Bruce wouldn't go for that, dude just ripped the doors off his car.
Yeah, I imagine this is the scene where they first met before the big fight and Supes is like "Hey cut the shit you asshole."

Then they fight, Wonder Woman or somebody stops them, and then they team up to take on Luthor.

Leaked dialogue from the BvS script:

Batman: My suit is cool cause I made it myself. Daddy's boy! You got a stupid S on your chest, in case we could forget who you are.

Superman: It's my people's symbol for hope.

Batman: Hope starts with an H, stupid!

Superman: Okay, stop!

Batman: Face it. You're lame.

Superman: You're wearing eye makeup!

Batman: Fuck you! I didn't just inherit my abilities from a different fucking atmosphere! This air makes me strong! Ya fucking nerd. With your nerd hair!

Their first meeting is most likely the rainy rooftop with the Bat signal.

Ripping off the doors is when Superman proposes an uneasy truce to fight a greater threat.

Because MoS was a lackluster movie that didn't set the world on fire like Avengers. So WB was like "Fuck it, put Batman in the next one. Do it now!"
Does anyone really expect a DC movie to set the world on fire and beat a Marvel movie at the box office? A DC movie could be much better but they are missing out on the kids tickets sales just because their movies aren't as family friendly as Marvel movies. I've got a friend that will takes his 7 year old to any Marvel movie because the violence is cartoony and hardly anyone ever dies but he won't let them watch any of the Nolan Batman movies yet. His kid loves Batman from the Lego games too.

the flash and shazam have the potential but yeah the tones set in the batman v superman trailers and especially suicide squad is clearly not going to get that jurassic world/avengers money.

which is fine since i still think they will be a success anyways.

Considering TDK and TDKR both did billion plus without 3D and MoS did nearly 700 million why is this even a question? BVS will do bonkers at the Box Office. Certain billion + and I think it could overtake Avengers even if it is remotely good considering it is Batman and Superman in one movie who are more iconic than any of the current avengers.

Wait a minute. Furious 7 isn't exactly kid friendly and look what numbers it pulled. BvS could easily hit huge numbers if it's a quality film.
