Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Comic-Con Trailer

I really want to see how Zack handles Flash in fight scenes. Faora was already fucking awesome.

I'm just hoping we don't have a depowered or underpowered Flash (regardless of my Flashpoint talk above) I want vibrating through walls and cosmic tread-mills and the first scene with him should be him absolutely SMOKING Superman in a race.

Man I just rewatched the Man of Steel fight scenes and almost made out with my monitor. That is the stuff that makes me reluctant to watch other superhero movies because they never match up. Who cares if the story is good when the action and cinematography is so flat? It's a superhero movie! Even if BvS's story sucks it will be worth it just to see everyone wreck shit.

What was wrong with what I said? The story sucked in The Raid 1 & 2 but I regard them as two of the best action movies. If I'm watching a movie about a guy with superpowers then the action should be the number one component.

Superhero movies aren't straight up action films though, or atleast not many of them so far have aimed for that.

People love these characters for more than just what they can physically do anyway so you're doing them a disservice if the action is number 1 and there isn't a balance.

Oh God, I had successfully suppressed the memory.

Damn you for reminding me.

Fuck, I hated how they handled Doomsday in Smallville. I hated how they handled pretty much every villain apart from Zod.

Darksied as a fucking cloud? A FUCKING CLOUD.
You do realize their budget per episode is even smaller than what The Flash and Arrow has right?

It's time to stop shit-posting wornout gifs instead of actually responding to what the poster said.

I definitely agree there needs to be a balance of the frequency of the scenes but when they appear they need to be top tier.

Sorry, I'm not usually one to do stupid image replies. I was just honestly taken aback by the suggestion that superhero action scenes can hardly get better than MoS's. I didn't find them effective at all. They were a bit messy and hard to follow and the emotional aspects and tension fell flat for me. I felt like I was just watching a bunch of loud events with no impact on anything.

Having said that, I'm hopeful for DoJ because Batman is human and I'm expecting Snyder to make the fights a bit "heavier," for lack of a better description.

Also, I love the plot in The Raid 2. :p

OH SHIT. I JUST learned the Joker sprayed suit is a ROBIN suit!

Jason Todd confirmed! I wasn't paying so close attention to realize it wasn't a Bat suit, I was just assuming he had been beaten by the Joker before.

So we have older Batman, Lois and Clark in a relationship, and now a dead Robin nearly confirmed. I love the idea of bringing the DCCU into some of the more modern status quos.

These have been good days for DC fans. News about The Killing Joke being animated, this awesome BvS trailer, new The Flash and Arrow news, leaked Suicide Squad trailer. Hnggg.

I just think story matters more. having a movie be mostly story makes the brief action scenes that much better. It's also a good way to give them weight and purpose. Otherwise it's just the Matrix sequels. Visually cool, but empty. Fight scenes need to matter to the story to be good. Theyre another tool to serve the story.
Those are my preferences though.

Story did not suck in either of those movies. In the first one it was simple, but not bad. The Raid also has the greatest action sequences of any action movie out there.
debatable, but I believe so.

I didn't think MoS's story sucked, it just had some terrible choice that kept it from being a great to possibly amazing movie. The Papa Kent
don't save me moment
and Clark actually listening to him along with the Hulk I can magically control and not control myself based on plot are the two worst pieces in comic, superhero movies. The fighting also needed a break at the end as it was no suspense or build up, just bam bam bam. I'm an action junkie and was thinking allright, I get it at several points. I wasn't a fan of the ending execution of you must do it either. I would have preferred Superman didn't do it but if he did, write it better. It looked silly. That's why it gets a 7.5 rather something higher. Simple things they easily could have done better.

Unlike Marvel on the other hand that is pretty much sitcom laugh track movie with superheroes in it that has the same problems and same formula in every fucking movie. Except Winter Soldier, which was fantastic.
Guardians and Ironman 1 were fun despite both having several issues similar to almost every Marvel movie

Truth. I'm hoping they start making some original Batman animated movies though after Killing Joke. More likely we'll get animated versions of Hush and Long Halloween next.

I'm most hopeful for Suicide Squad at this point. I hope it feels markedly different from what Snyder, or any other recent comic book movie, has brought to the table.

I'm mostly excited about another Justice League animated series that is pretty much confirmed to exist.

Still no Shazam ongoing though.

edgar wright or sam raimi would kill it with a flash movie. plus i know the former would probably look to the xmen scene for some reference as well.

i think george miller would make a great shazam movie. there are easy choices out here for some of these, I hope WB considers them.

Eh, it's better than the first Avengers but doesn't get to skate by on the novelty of that first one or the charisma of its bad guy.

Its major flaw is that half of it just seems like they're trying to shove as much set up for Phase 3 in there as possible, really disjointed and out of place. The parts of the movie that are actually about Ultron and the Avengers are good dumb fun with the same great dialog and character interactions you expect from Whedon.

It's not nearly as bad as Thor 2.

Man of Steel is bad though and in a lot of ways, not to mention the complete apathy it feels toward the source material.

Been agreeing with you too much lately.

I've never seen GAF defend a bad movie more than MoS.

This is not true.
MoS is probably one of the most polarizing movies on Gaf. There is an equal amount of people on both sides of the coin.

For every new thread being created of how the OP loved the movie there was one made down the road of how the OP hated the movie.

So much so that I got MoS thread fatigue after a while.

I should probably watch Man of Steel.

Oh boy...I see a new batch of threads incoming...May Xenu have mercy on us.

I feel when people say source material in regards to Superman they are talking about the Donner films not the comics but in truth Man of Steel was more faithful to the source material then the Donner Films were at the time they came out. It's all adaptations though and Superman today is completely different then he was thirty years ago and alot more like he was seventy seven years ago.

It's good for a headache but I don't recall ever laughing.

For the record, I didn't like TDKR either but I'm not going to get into it so as not to derail the thread even further.

I haven't gone through the entire thread so forgive me if this has been discussed before, but right here:

Are we thinking this could be an Aquaman flashback perhaps? Or something else entirely?
