Well that article is also making the assumption that that funeral scene is Thomas and Martha Wayne's funeral, which isn't necessarily true. :X

EDIT: Btw, I'm just playing Devil's advocate, it's more than likely the Wayne family funeral, but who knows.

I think you can see Alfred and Bruce (or at least an older man with one arm around a child in front of the caskets). Two caskets. Seems like the Wayne family funeral.

I'm a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, stop measuring dicks, dicksplash

Dicksplash was by far the best line in the movie. I'm trying to parse it literally but I can't. Is the bully trying to say Clark is the equivalent of a dick splashing into water? Or is it a euphemism for jizz? That actually kind of makes sense because Clark is the first natural birth in years on Krypton.

No, you right.

I'm actually hoping the movie is decently long. Definitely hope it's longer than MoS.

No jokes.

As much as I try and can't explain the concept of why Batman wants to body check Superman to my wife. Maybe I'm not doing a good job.

"But Batman is a good guy."

Well yeah but Superman and Zod blew the shit out of two continents and Batman is a little concerned that Superman is too powerful for this earth.

"Yeah, but Superman is a good guy."

Well, yeah but as a result of them playing catch with each other there was untold destruction... and what if more of those people come to earth?

"But they are both good guys."

Y-yeah.

She has no interest in reading the comics. I wonder if other people are confused by this concept?

Yes. I have had the same conversation. It is actually a bit comical.

Also they're carrying them into a giant tomb (is that the correct word for that large style of grave?) that says "Wayne" on it... Not sure what other pair of Waynes it could be unless Batman secretly has a wife in this, haha.

If its the Wayne funeral, then
there is more than one funeral in the movie.

Just tell her its all sort of pretense so that they can team up by the end of the movie against the real baddie.

Also you lost me at Batman wanting to body check Supes. Gosh. Such image. Very hero. Much body. 😍

Avengers = 1,500,000,000
Dark Knight =1,005,000,000
Dark Knight Rises = 1,085,000,000
Iron Man 3 = 1,215,000,000
Avengers 2 = 1,389,000,000

Thor = 449,000,000
Thor 2 = 645,000,000
Captain America =371,000,000
Winter Soldier =715,000,000
Hulk = 263,000,000
Guardians = 774,000,000

Man of Steel = $668,000,000.

BvsS will do fine box office wise, but historically Superman movies don't break records nor do huge summer blockbuster numbers. Having Batman in the movie should help a lot though.

Luthor deserves to be the best damn comic villain on screen. He's deserved it for a long while now that the old silly Luthor character trope is long gone.

One thing I'm curious about from the trailer is Wayne reading that paper with "You let your family die" scrawled over a newspaper article about the Wayne building falling down. Who wrote that? Some say the Joker, but is Joker knew Bats was Bruce, why didn't he do anything about it or tell anyone? It could have just been sent to Wayne to taunt him without any Batman connection, but who would do that? And why would they expect Wayne to do anything about it? I was thinking it could be some hallucination, but is the world ready for crazy Batman? I AM.

Lol I'd say it's likely the Joker sent it probably to taunt Batman out of retirement and he doesn't really do anything about it because, from the Joker's perspective, the best part of being Batman's enemy is trying to push Batman to his breaking point rather than actually killing him. Any other villain finding out Bats was Wayne would just assassinate him but that's too boring of an end for the Joker. For the Joker, Batman needs to die in the mask as his true self and not in the three piece suit at some fancy restaurant. And I think there's precedent comic wise (at least in a few stories) that the Joker knows a bit more about Batman than he let's on.

Could've just been a random person

It's still a terrible line. Especially the way he says it.

One of my biggest problem with MoS was the dialogue. No one has an actual conversation in that movie. Everyone talks in trailer quotes or exposition.

"You know the biggest lie in American history, Senator?"

"We know now, devils don't come from the hell beneath us, they come from the sky."

"Black and blue. Day versus night. Man vs god."

"The red capes are coming."

WHO TALKS LIKE THAT

Yea I'm not a fan of his dialogue or delivery.

Terrible is a stretch. Mediocre at worst, great at best. The visuals will be splendid, and some of the action will probably be exciting. The acting will be fine. It's the writing I wouldn't hold my breath over. I'm not fan of Goyer's. Even if some other dude rewrote the script, it's bound to have his schtick shine through I'll bet.

Yep, that's my fear - the writing and how it will reflect on the movie. I'm expecting quite stupid plot, taking itself too serious, problems with pacing and just a movie that tries to be too many things at once. That trailer didn't convince me otherwise...

I tend to stay out MCU threads about upcoming movies because I'm not super familiar with the material and fear spoilers but is "too crowded" a common complaint for Civil War?

I honestly think the Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg will just be small cameos at the very end. This movie won't be overcrowded. As for Civil War, Marvel has proven that they can juggle a large amount of characters.

Hasn't stopped folks from complaining about cramped/trainwreck/clustermuck for almost 2 years though!

I don't understand your order here.

BVS should easily hit Avengers numbers unless it sucks like MOS.

Comparing this movie to Marvels Phase 1 movies Numbers would be ridiculous. 700M+ should be the new standard for a successful movie given the budgets of these movies nowadays. If BVS doesn't hit 1B it will be considered a Bomb by some, even though that shouldn't be the case.

I will go on record, if this film does less than a billion dollars, I'll call it a disappointment.

I mean the last two solo Bat-films did it... and I can imagine this one having a 3D version unlike Nolan's trilogy AND imax.

That's just dummies being overly hyperbolic. Myself I'll let a movie sink or swim on its own merits. I'm an obvious Marvel Fan but that doesn't mean I hate DC movies. I was over the moon when I heard that they were gonna make a Green Lantern movie. That ended badly for me.

I forgot about 3D. Yeah it should easily make 1B.

So i'm wondering if Batman has already faced Red Hood at this point. With Bruce talking to Alfred and mentioning 'how many good guys are left, how many stay that way' while you see Robin's costume.

Or it could just be they lost a good guy. I doubt they'd pass the chance for Red Hood to be introduced somewhere instead of having him already exist.

It'll do a bill hopefully, probably not insane numbers. Its aiming at an older demographic here than the usual big hitters (the trailer is dark, lots of fighting/criminals being branded). I could see parents thinking its too scary for younger kids. But if Furious 7 can make it to number 3, anythings possible.

Opening weekend is gonna do big numbers.We'll see how it does afterward.

I know for damn sure it won't beat JW's opening record

Batman is bankable.
Though this is a MoS "sequel" there is a financial reason why WB is folding Batman into this universe. When it comes to profitable comic book movies from the DC universe, Batman has Supes beat.

So you're saying it's 2spoopy4kids?
