This is also a good example of weight in the punches

That's another problem directors still haven't figured how to give us a flying fist fight using wires that looks like the actors are properly planted when throwing punches. The worst offender is Thor in AoU during the Gazebo scene it looks like he's dangling from wires flailing wildly
When they're on the ground this problem doesn't exist because they can plant their feet and use proper form

this gif does no favors for the film either. it's like a next (next) gen MK vs DC game clip or something.
stiff CG puppets hitting each other. that stop superman does when he gets hit in the neck lol. zod vs supe fight sucked. it displayed superman's power convincingly but it still turned into a cartoon at it's expense.
fuck it, go back to the basics brehs:

that power...that impact...
Well, can't tell who's serious or trolling anymore
and Im baffled when people talk shit about it
Man of Steel is the only movie that feels like it truly captures what a fight between human sized indestructible gods would look like, the weight behing every punch is incredible.
it displayed superman's power convincingly but it still turned into a cartoon
That's not really a bad thing.
Now the Superman/Captain Marvel fight from JLU, that was a goddamn super being fight.

Both gifs look stupid. I dont know why WB can't get better special effects for these super hero films

Which is funny you mention it, because it pulls a lot of the same shit that this movie does. Worse, in some cases. At one point, Superman uppercuts Cap, which somehow causes him to fall down, which can't be mere gravity because it completely destroys the building he lands on. If that happened here, people would be giving it shit.
It's better to say that you find the same 'fake' choreography more 'real' in a cartoon, whereas it happening in a live action sequence, it's fakeness stands out. If that's what you mean, okay, but you can't really claim that the Supes/Cap fight is somehow fundamentally different, because if anything, several pieces of the Zod fight seem straight up lifted from the cartoon. It's fundamentally the same thing, just set in a medium where fakery is more accepted.
Where are these special aerial battle effects that you speak of that WB doesn't have access to?

Probably is more acceptable due to the medium, I just like the way it looks better. It lingers on each punch more, it's creative with it's environment, it just comes off as more visceral.
In contrast the live action fight has goofy shit like Zod's gorilla climb up a building. Maybe it isn't fair because they're different, but the way it's shot in the live action stuff seems off putting and lacks any oomph.
Can we stop acting like CGI is the problem ?
It's not. Poor CGI and what Snyder seems content with, is the problem.
I'm gonna remind you guys this is 3 years old, from an amateur, ONE MAN, production.

Name a movie with better CG for real people.

I can defend this level of CGI. But movie isn't finished, really hope they spend a lot of time on that.![]()

Faora had impact.

2- The stupid punch-waves make it look like a game.
That looks ridiculously fake.
I would never call that an exemple of "good"........ Sure it might look less pathetic than the uppercut, but it's not good either.

Why is Kal El smiling while getting punched like that? Shouldn't he show some sign of pain or something?

people trying to analyze shit frame by frame of course you're gonna see some weird faces, you don't notice that shit when you're in the middle of watching it the 1st time.
and those punches probably don't hurt him that much, their durability outstrips their strength.
Yup. MoS took Kryptonian invulnerability to its logical conclusion.
Kal got a hit by a goddamn train and didn't have a fucking scratch on them.
I thought Clark vs. Faora and Nam was probably the best superpowered fight among recent comic book movies. Fuck me I guess.
Weirdest shot for me was this:

remember the terrible CG False God Statue?

Wrong. most of the Statue is Practical

Yup. Even if Fury Road's action scenes were only half as good as they turned out to be, the close ups on Charlize Theron's face would still sell those sequences 100% of the time.
Damn, Fury Road is so good you guys. I should see it again.
I agree that animation is a better resource for the Superhero genre as a whole, and criminally underutilized as a storytelling tool by hollywood by relegating it to the kids audience.
Wait a second.... Nam? That big guy had a name? How did you find this out because they sure as hell couldn't be bothered to give it to us in the movie as far as I know. He was just "big kryptonian guy."
Also, the Smallville fight was my favorite too even over the Zod fight. Even if Supes was destroying half of the town he grew up in. "Sorry about the gas station! I'm sure your family will survive somehow even with all that lost income."
Weirdest shot for me was this:

I have it over Hunger Games for sure and thought it would be a close one with Civil War in terms of opening weekends. However I'm leaning towards BvS based on that trailer and reaction.
Still really early.
How is Batman going to go against that with a metal suit. He's going to get wrecked.
