SHENMUE 3 kickstarter (PC/PS4) - FINAL DAY - NEW KS RECORD GO GO GO!

Uhhh ill prob do it through paypal but not really a fan of this model. Most games end up pretty crummy through it for some reason. Except Shovel Knight.

Divinity: Original Sin, FTL and Shadowrun Returns are some other solid games to have gone through Kickstarter. I think they're solid anyway.

Guys, guys, the real news of the day - some loser backed the Bait & Tackle tier. Somebody out there in the big wide world is paying $1,800 to name a virtual fishing rod.

I really hope he isn't a gaffer.

It's probably a Saudi prince or something. A lot of F2P games basically survive off these people. More power to em... they probably don't think about $1800 in the same way as you or I.

I'm hoping that there's opportunity to back the game later. Want the 80$ tier but won't be able to afford it for a week!

Just in case a physical copy don't get release I believe KS gives Pledgers seven days to pay for their pledge if there are payment issues at the end of the kickstarter.

Ha.

You know, If I had the money, I'd have went for it. Don't know why, just like the idea of naming that rod more than some of the other rewards. Seems more permanent or something, not to mention quite funny.

I hope Sony do surprise and put 4-5 million towards development budget. If they can fund a pos like the order with 10s of millions then funding a quality game with peanuts should be easy.

500k in 15 hours isn't happening. :(

Shut yo lip, woman!

I'll see if I can pour some additional dollars in tonight, I am really rooting for this to break the record!

That would mean so much for titles like these and should give some oppertunities for extra fundings/higher chances for a sequel/a SI+II remaster.

I've waited three years for Broken Age from backing the KS to the release of the final game.

Time to wait three more years for Shenmue 3.

15hrs to go then. I think we'll just hit that $6M stretch goal before it ends, at least I hope so.

Not far off from becoming the #1 most funded video game on KS too!

Debating whether or not to donate. I'm considering $60 for the physical PS4 version...but I've never played either of the other two games.

I am relatively confident the success of the KS campaign will get Sega to release Shenmue 1+2 HD. So I don't see any harm contributing and ensuring you get a physical release.

At the very least you'll get a recap video detailing the events of the previous games. Between now and Shenmue III actually coming out though, we may even get the remasters. Go for it.

man those busts are a steal. not surprised they all went. 106k raised today already? 500k away from 6 million? 15 and a half hours left? we might have a real shot at the big 6.

Yeah, those busts were in a tier much cheaper then they should have been. Shenmue history right there.

Not a fan of how many $500+ rewards there are. I get that some of them are unique things, but those prices are out of reach for many. I'd like more <$250 rewards

What would be the difference in buying the $60 KS tier or going out and buying the physical copy when it release in 2017?

Like the poster you quoted I never played anything Shenmue yet, but I pledged $60 for the physical PS4 version anyway. Do you think I'd appreciate the $80 content (flashbacks via phone calls) as an "outsider"?

Thanks man. That's... not too bad. I did expect more to be made on the Kickstarter's penultimate day however. I think this isn't going to get the huge surge of pledges I initially thought it would.

Honestly? Probably not, since those phone calls are very pandering to a fanbase who know those characters well based on their playtime with the original games. For a newcomer, you're not going to know who they are, and all the little nudges and winks in the conversations aren't going to mean a lot to you as a result. But like I said, we may well get the remasters at some point in the foreseeable future (although I wouldn't hold your breath), so you could potentially end up playing I+II before III comes out.

The busts and name a vendor tiers should have been the other way around.
Not surprised at all they all went out so fast.

If they really want to get a lot of money, they should have a saturn alpha of Shenmue at 100K.
That's somewhat of a holy grail.

I understand why they didn't go too high with the busts. They probably figured there wasn't enough time to sell them all at a huge price.

I'll up to $80 just to be "safe" then.

Edit: it includes the $60 reward, but there are two of those. I better still get the physical PS4 version in an "exclusive, backer-only case"!
