Well I'm off to bed - it's 3:30am in Melbourne! When I wake up in a few hours before the end of the kick-starter I fully expect us to be in the 6 million range. Good night guys. : )

It'd be pretty hard to compete with the incredible talent that Yu has assembled.
Your other option would be becoming a big private investor I guess. A few million dollars should do it! Also don't sell yourself short I'm sure they need people to ACTUALLY make the game besides the marquee devs!

Do they sponsor Visas? :)
No idea, you can visit their site. I'd also assume you'd need to be fluent in Japanese!

I would so love to be animating for them. haha
!

I'm sure everyone in the industry read these quotes or followed the DFA kickstarter - some of those are magnificently prescient:

Somebody did! DFA kickstarter was in Feb 2012, sparsely 3 years and a bit ago

We have Yooka Laylee (Banjo spritial successor) and Shenmue 3, are the rest coming?

We got both the Shenmue sequel and the IGA game (Bloodstained)!

What a great time to be alive

But I suck at reading kanji. Guess I'll continue being a stupid American :(

Guys at Funhaus posted Shenmue gameplay. I shouldn't have watched it but I did, and I regret it. Do not read comments.

Yeah those comments are bad. A lot of people in the new Game Informer LP are like that too... this game is BORING, nothing happens... blah de fucking blah.

Haha. Maybe by the time Shenmue 4 rolls around.

I'm thinking about upgrading my $60 PS4 Physical Edition to the $80 S3World Telecom Edition but I can't work out whether that comes with the Physical PS4 version or just the PC version? Can anybody confirm if it's a choice of either?

Don't want to mess it up by doing the wrong thing. :(

Every tier above 60 dollars gets their choice of version.

I only just started to play Shenmue, but I've been fascinated by it since the Dreamcast days, unfortunately I couldn't afford a Dreamcast as a 12-year old boy.

So...as I hate unfinished stories I just pledged 250$ for the Kickstarter Collector's Edition on PC and 60$ for the PS4 physical copy.

Thanks, that was the way I understood it.

I know it's not going to make much of a difference if I go from $60 to $100 and I'm not even a fan of the first two games but I've been enchanted by how much passion Yu Suzuki has for this project and the support there has been from people over the years for this series.

I would have absolutely loved the project to have reached +$11 million so that he could make his game, his way. I do really hope that the major investors outside of Kickstarter decide to give a bit more money than they were going to originally.

Whoa nice work.

Please create a new thread and share your experiences. I'm sure there's many a new gamer that would like to hear from someone playing Shenmue for the first time.

I'm interested to hear your take on it.

7 hours to go, 5.7 mil. $. C'mon backers! Almost 6 million. I remember Amplitude situation. It looked like a lost cause a 2 day before end of a campaign. But suddenly sum began to grow.

If everyone who's donated so far threw in an extra $40 we'd have another 2.5 million. Every new pledge and upgrade to an existing one adds up.

Possibly my last update for the night (I still gotta sleep! I have classes tomorrow, so I won't be there exactly when the KS closes, but I'll wake up early to check up on the KS!)

While we're not earning $1k/minute anymore... we're still earning $40k+/hour... which is still crazy. The hype is there, and I imagine it's going to be more intense in the next hours.

I'm not sure if anyone is going to continue looking on the trends, but I just find it a curious thing... like when exactly in the last day does the hype come at a peak.

keep up this till hour into it?

i like these stats. thanks for sharing.

18:00 (BST): $5,732,784
19:00 (BST): $5,779,016

Total added last hour: $46,232

Average needed per hour to reach $6 million: ~$27k (will comfortably make it)
Average needed per hour to reach $6.5 million: $90k (unlikely without a huge boost)

Omg, I just bumped for the third time.
From $80 for the calling cards (never even played the originals) to $175 (185) for the credits, soundtrack, and art book.

You guys, make it stop...

time for those in "rich oil countries " to show some Shenmue love?

are they going to continue collecting donations through paypal during development?
If so, is it possible the game's scope will be expanded to include the higher stretch goals?

6000 names in the game's credits for backing the $100 tier.

200 names in the Shenmue III website for backing the $39 tier.

Look who's special now.
