Star Wars KOTOR 2 Gets Big Update + out on Mac & Linux

Why does my game show PSX buttons? Also Nvidia DSR isn't working for me...

For DSR to work you have to set your desktop resolution to the resolution you want to use in the game, then start the game. You'll be able to select that resolution in the game options now.

It's annoying, because then your desktop gets super tiny (especially if you're on a TV) but it's fine in game.

I mean you click on the game in your library and the Restored content is immediately visible on the screen, taking two clicks to install. It's going to get a lot more people to use it, great addition.

I also can only get 1366x768 to show up though. My monitor is only 1080p, but I'd like that.

Time to update TSLRCM and get playing again.

Yeah, I'm going to have to get this again. Have never tried the Restored Content Mod.

Of course, playing this through to the end again will just make me pissed off that we'll never get a proper KOTOR 3 with Revan and the Exile and we're stuck with the MMO rubbish they did to those characters.

This is rad. I love how companies are finding it financially worthwhile to update games for the modern area on steam. I hope this trend continues, because it just helps preserve the games, and lets us play them in better conditions. My only wish would be for Devs/publishers to work with their community a bit more, and possibly integrate mods right into the game, but I suppose Steam already has a pretty nice interface for that.

I couldn't get 1080p either at first. I ended up fixing it by going to the swkotor2.exe (c:/ > Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > common > Knights of the Old Republic II), right clicking it and then checking 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' under the Compatibility tab.

Hope this helps!

Impressions!! C'mon, people. Give us some feedback here on the controller gameplay. (I'm at work.)

Do button prompts appear? Does it handle well, or feel like a half-arsed effort?

I already have all the mods installed before the patch and I was wondering if this patch would brake my installation?

Should I do a clean reinstall?

Weird, I'm getting decimated on Korriban.

Button prompts in the menus yes.
It feels fine. The assigned buttons feel a bit silly, but utlimately grand.

Button prompts do appear (both in Xbox and PS variants), its more like an overlay on the native PC UI though. It still doesn't feel like this version of the game was naturally designed to be used with a controller. But its definitely usable.

The layout is also different from the original Xbox layout so that has to be relearned.

EDIT: To those wondering, the game does have native Dualshock 4 support, although in my experience, it was a bit wonky. I prefer using the DS4 Tool and tricking the game into thinking its a 360 controller.

I played this game last year for the first time with the cut content mod.

If you are a fan of the first Kotor, you really should check this game out, like New Vegas it expands on the RPG mechanics and offers higher quality writing.

Did they fix the buggy race mini-game? When I played recently my racer kept flying high in the air and I couldn't hit any of the boost pads.

Anyone managed to get this to run on Intel Integrated graphics?
Trying to run it on my tablet but it's repeatedly telling me to go screw myself.

It takes a second to get the hang of, but it works pretty well after a few seconds of tinkering time.

I had a previous version installed (both base mod and robot planet) and got the workshop version, no problems so far, but I'm still just on Peragus, might have issues when I get to mod bits.

I'm using the X1's controller and it seems to be golden so far.

Damn, I still have my save from Telos IV on Steam but I want to restart the game due to achievements. It's a shame Peragus is so slow compared to KOTOR's opening, but I suppose I can struggle through it.

This was an excellent series. It takes a drop in quality after the Conclave saga though. Still, great read for KOTOR fans.

Yep, I still have a bunch of the singles from back in the day somewhere. It's a shame the TOR comics were so awful, Tales of the Jedi and KOTOR proved this time period makes for great comics.

This is cool and all, and makes me wanna play my PC version more than ever, but one of the reasons I also never played this game is I keep hearing that it doesn't feel finished, so I'm still hesitant...

I guess it's time for 4th playthrough then!

Amazing game.

A little warning for people who is installing that unofficial update with the addition of some cut off areas. One of these areas introduce a really strong end boss that proved for me impossible to beat, basically making it impossible for me to continue playing the game.

I'm serious. I couldn't continue in any way. You're left to fight this boss with only one character and he is very strong.

Damn you LucasArts. It took more than a decade. To say this is overdue.

Lucasarts doesn't exist anymore.

Can you skip the optional content?
