hahahahaha

There's something about this that strikes me as "that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be." Not in terms of what's said but in terms of the overall effect.

Like totally the plug needs to be pulled on his career, that's what happens when you're a celeb and do this sort of thing. But there's something about admitting to being racist and then going on an offensive but ultimately unimportant rage fueled tirade that doesn't seem that bad. I think it's much worse to say "I'm not a racist" and then proceed to subtly undermine minorities with secret associations, politics and FUD, consciously or unconsciously than just hoisting your inner confederate flag.

What? Not a chance. WWE doesn't see racism as a huge issue and Vince loves bringing old stars back. Hogan will be back in their good graces in a couple of years at most. Mark my words.

They don't care about racism, they care about bad PR (especially as they are a more pg/family friendly company than they were 15-20 years ago). You can bring up dirt sheet stories about Michael Hayes or ric flair but those weren't recordings that were blowing up on social media. Hogan's name is toxic and wwe will disassociate themselves from him as long as that remains the case. Depending on how bad the tapes are and what the media reaction is to them (think Donald Sterling is ever getting back in anyone's good graces?) that might be a very very long time. You are severely underestimating this.

there are more important things to worry about. every damn one of us would hang our heads in shame if the masses knew of all the shit we talked in private. and yet we put on these public witch hunts.

I dunno.. racism is different for me. I do agree that certain public witch hunts are more disgusting than what was being "witch hunted," but babbling on about "Fucking niggers"?

I do not find that remotely acceptable, have never done it myself, and would seriously consider not being friends with anyone if I found out they did.

It's the sort of behavior that needs to change; people talk like that in private and then consciously or subconsciously take those attitudes with them in different contexts.

Per IGN, Hogan's statement:

"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

when i was young, i though macho man was black lol! which is why he is my favorite wrestler.

but no, he is just a Very very tanned Italian.
lol.

Honestly, i'm not even bothered by this Hogan development since it doesn't surprise me. All I could do was laugh at his wild imagination of basketball playin' 8 foot tall nigger billionaires.

#Ifuckedup #Imsorry #Allblacklivesmatter #alllivesmatter #Ifuckedup

Hogan is still a piece of shit

I'm more bothered by WWE trying to paint themselves as the good guy in this whole situation.

Del Rio not a year ago was fired because he attacked a WWE employee who made racist comments towards about him.

Everything WWE has done to repair their image recently is just trying to cover up the fact that they flaunted that stuff for decades.

Should have started it with "Well you know something, Mean Gene..."

Well in terms of an immediate apology you could probably do a lot worse than this. Doesn't make it less shitty but then again I'm not sure what else he could possibly say.

He said what he needed to say and now it's off to an underground bunker with mel gibson and cosby.

edit: Actually I don't think Cosby has apologized.

It doesn't make them better to ignore it. It does nothing to call them out over this, which is the correct step.

Yeah I don't think he did either. I just recall some bullshit about him not going to attempt defending himself since people would have made up their minds already.

Corporations don't have morals. The wwe isn't trying to paint themselves as good guys as much as they are trying to cover their own ass and limit any damage or association from this. At their core they are still run by the same guy who allegedly tried to help Jimmy Snuka cover up a murder. I wouldn't exactly expect them to take the high ground.

If Cosby apologized he'd probably be instantly sued into bankruptcy, not to mention give more weight to the various criminal investigations that are happening.

He should, but he's probably surrounded by people telling him not to say anything remotely close to an apology.

If it reaches national headline news levels, sure.

Otherwise it'll be swept under the rug just like Ultimate Warrior's extreme bigotry (which there is video of).

Ho Kogan sure has a way with words. :/

I wonder if they're still going to show that episode of Walker, Texas Ranger where Hogan plays a reformed criminal who runs a community center for inner city kids.
