4k is asking a little much for a PSP game... even a remaster of a PSP game. I am going to replay through it either way, but I was never really expecting this to be the next Crisis.

I am more curious to see what breaks when someone invariably figures out how to unlock the frame rate.

Not really. Dynamic resolution is a thing on PC since... well, forever.

Edit: Beaten.

No 1444p support?

Pfft. Amazing how it took a step back from their previous PC port.

Someone else who has a higher res native monitor or TV can check to verify, but for me I don't even get higher options when using DSR to set a higher desktop resolution, which is a workaround for some other games.

There's additional options for Anti-Aliasing (None, Normal, High, Highest), as far as textures the option is Normal and Low Res, Shadows are Off/Normal/Detailed

If it's not too much of a pain can you check what DX version this is and what the difference between each AA settings is like in both looks and performance cost please? Sorry to be a pain but cheers in advance.

They couldn't even add controller prompts...
There are no controller prompts even when using a 360/one/whatever controller? Square Enix pls

Edit: I have a 4K tv and 1080P is the maximum resolution that shows up. How Square? Resolution was even one of the new features mentioned!

resolution options are an ancient feature in the realm of PC gaming.

This isn't news to me, man. The lead platform was a PSP. It wasn't built as a PC game. No different on how console games would look if the industry decided that the Wii should be the lead development platform.

Yeah, it's not letting me set 4K, even though I have that set in DSR. And the default keyboard option look completely stupid.

Seriously, how do they keep fucking up basic things like rebindable keys and arbitrary resolution support? These clowns are being showed up by Idea Factory, a company a fraction of their size whose first PC game was released seven months ago. I was going to let the 30 FPS lock slide if the rest of it was good, but it just isn't. Ugh.

ZombiU was recently ported to the PC and by some miracle I just finished playing the game for an hour at 4K, 60 FPS. The Wii U version was 720P, 25ish fps. Darkest of magics!

I did a quick check, but performance cost I can't verify anything off since it remains 30fps locked for me no matter which anti-aliasing option I pick, at least in the very beginning.

Here's a quick screen cap with the highest setting, though. I'm not the best person to judge differences as far as looks go, since I'm playing off a TV and sitting a few feet from it.

Xseed seems to not have any issues release PSP games on PC so i don't understand why Square Enix would

Xseed reprograms those games to add modern options, like resolution and controller support. they take ancient games and get it right on PC.

SE can't even get controller or resolution support right on ports of current gen games outside of the eidos stuff

Well I hope the eventual port of XV isn't this bad...

Given their track record of still not listening to even the most basic requests of pc options... would not count on it lol. Seriously would think there would be some progress after this many substandard ports but nope.

What the fuck Square do they ever learn? They should just stop having an internal port team and just let Nixxes handle the PC stuff in the future

I just played for a few minutes...The game is locked at 20 FPS on my computer, and frequently drops below that in the starting area. I have a 670 and 3570k. Gross. This is on max settings, which my PC should EASILY be able to handle.

Square really outdid themselves again, lol. Can they not just hire Nixxes or QLOC to do all of their ports from now on, this is just pathetic at this point.

Get those refunds running people. Send a message.

Up until about a year ago, I never thought I would ever get to play this game in any fashion, so I have no problem admitting I am probably being easier on them than I should. The pre-patch Final Fantasy 13 stuff really did piss me off, though.

The Last Remnant was fine, and I think FFXIV was too (technically speaking).

FF14 was built from the ground up to work on PC. Every Final Fantasy game they've ported to PC has had zero to minimal effort poured into it (DS/iOS games with 15fps framelocks...), and I've no idea why people excepted differently for Type 0.

Steam Refunds are a wonderful thing, are they not? Fuck Square.

Great, the launcher is broken in Spanish (and I assume it's probably the same in all non-EN versions?) the top submenu is completely absent, so you can't change to the rest of the tabs to adjust graphics and so on.

The only workaround is to TAB until you see the blue arrow in the black area on top, and the just scroll through it with the left and right arrow keys. Gosh...

Well 14 is an mmo. It has to work on pc.

LR comes from a time where SE saw potential in the PC market with their Japanese games, and it's weird they went back on that because the PC market is more lucrative than ever

XIV is generally fine but has odd quirks here and there (UI doesn't scale past 1080 and the application can't change audio output device on the fly).

Was about to pull the trigger on this but just popped in to check the GAF reports, glad I did. *clicks remove from basket*

Close call!

This port is pretty shit so far. Ugh. It was a gift from a friend who bought it from GMG, so I can't even get him to refund it.

At first it was a locked 30fps, but soon as you get to the first fight in the beginning the FPS just randomly flicks from 15fps to 30fps. Everytime that happens everything freezes for about half a second, and this happens about every 4-5 seconds.

Is anyone else having their GPU roaring to keep up with this? My 970 is constantly at maximum usage, and the framerate even dropped a bit during the intro scene where you're fighting that black cloud.

EDIT: Apparently high levels of AA cause the framerate to tank.
