Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Coming To PC/Steam - More gfx options, better camera, etc

I just played for a few minutes...The game is locked at 20 FPS on my computer, and frequently drops below that in the starting area. I have a 670 and 3570k. Gross. This is on max settings, which my PC should EASILY be able to handle.

The specs you just listed aren't exactly high end.

Is anyone else having their GPU roaring to keep up with this? My 970 is constantly at maximum usage, and the framerate even dropped a bit during the intro scene where you're fighting that black cloud.

Yeah, same here. It got worse the farther in I went as far as performance goes.

It's a shit port? Didn't they advertise this as a good port with support from MSI? the fuck

shouldn't have bought from GMG. I trusted Square ;_;
Guess they're still the same

XIV is generally fine but has odd quirks here and there (UI doesn't scale past 1080 and the application can't change audio output device on the fly).

You have to manually scale individual UI parts in the HUD editor to scale past 1080p, but it is doable.

I'm not having any performance issues at highest AA settings but I have a 980Ti. Hovering around 65 degrees.

Man maybe I should have stuck with my PS4 version. I sold it so I could downsample from 4K on my 970 ;_;
Worst case scenario at least we have better AA options and increased draw distance. Hopefully the resolution issue gets fixed soon, promised feature and all......

I've got an OC'd 970 and an i7 920 @ 4.1 ghz. It's ridiculous to see the fps dropping so low so frequently for seemingly no reason at all, because I could just be rotating the camera and it'll dip on one spot in one pass, but be perfectly fine on another pass.

pretty bummed this port is crap, but I'm not surprised. Asking for 60 fps isn't too much these days, in fact, that should be standard. We shouldn't even have to worry if a game will be 60 fps or not. fucking 2015.

Does the highest AA settings enable SSAA? (probably with out saying it) The game on console used SMAA 1Tx, which produces great edges but is rather inexpensive. Perhaps that is the "normal option" and anything higher adds ssaa...

I do not have the game to test, but it should be obvious as your GPU utilization would nearly double.

This port is pretty shit so far. Ugh. It was a gift from a friend who bought it from GMG, so I can't even get him to refund it.

At first it was a locked 30fps, but soon as you get to the first fight in the beginning the FPS just randomly flicks from 15fps to 30fps. Everytime that happens everything freezes for about half a second, and this happens about every 4-5 seconds.

Thanks for the feedback. I won't even bother downloading it then. It's quite sad, but to the "trash" it goes. I never thought Ubi's Zombi would be the better port of the two.

Yeah reading the steam forums and elsewhere it appears the High default settings are either bugged or super brutal and very few people are running it well on it.

Using the normal spec I still get the stutter, just not as severe. Watching the FPS indicator it drops to 22fps then jumps right back up, causing the freeze/stutter.

Turn down the anti aliasing to normal... just to check...
Try set it medium and it does run at 30 still have random drop. Turn off AA did make it run smoother though.

Yeah, it is absolutely the setting fault. I mean it doesn't even look that good at highest setting.

Well, let's not elevate another bad port by comparing it to an even worse one.

From what I've heard and read, neither deserve a lot of praise.

The Last Remnant was fine, and I think FFXIV was too (technically speaking).

The Last Remnant comes from a bizarro alternate universe where the console version was garbage and the Steam version runs like a dreamboat.

(Also it's UE3)

Okay, here we go.

Anyone having severe stutter problems like me: Turn off Screen Space Shadows.

Now even when running everything else maxed, I don't get any FPS drops or bad stutters.

Grandia 2 it is then. Never change with ur ports square

Zombi is barebones, but it is a very solid port otherwise, especially considering all of the missing visual effects can be fixed using existing third party tools.

Resolution, optimization, framerate, etc are much more difficult to fix.

The AA solution for this game is awful. It's either nothing or it makes the character models look like a blurry mess. Even on normal it's super blurry.

EDIT: Messed up and thought that Hexadrive was the one that messed up ZOE. Now I'm even more bummed this turned out less than favorable.

Hexadrive saved the ZoE 2 port and made the collection worth buying on PS3. High Voltage was responsible for the original version.

They made this remake/remaster.

The AA solution for this game is awful. It's either nothing or the blurriest crap AA you can think of. Even on normal it's super blurry.

I picked this up for super cheap and thought it'd be fun since I loved Crisis Core but I'm not very impressed with this port. I should have looked at who did the port. If I knew ahead of time that it was Hexadrive, I might have not picked it up after the crap job they did with the ZOE remasters.

Hexadrive fixed the ZOE2 remaster, it was High Voltage Software that did the original shit job.

that was high voltage

hexadrive fixed it

edit: beaten

Dem PSP textures :( However, thee were present in the PS4 version. I wish the developers had more time to update all of the textures and models across the board. It just looks so weird.

I hope some modders can rip out replace all of the low resolution textures. This game needs it real bad.

you know that Hexadrive actually FIXED ZOE2 HD, they never messed it up, right? it was High Voltage that fucked up that remaster

i'd put good money on this being another shoddy DotEmu port

Seems like Hexadrive suffered the same baptism most japanese devs suffered on their first PC job.

(That or this wasn't even Hexadrive)

Glad I got this on PS4.

Yeah Hexadrive is usually pretty rad. Rez HD, Okami are some of the best HD are remasters out there. They also ported MGS3 to 3DS but I hear that does have some FPS issues.

I think High Voltage software did the ZoE port and then Hexadrive fixed ZoE2. High Voltage also recently did the poor Mortal Kombat X PC port initially, and are maybe porting that game to last gen consoles.

edit: Beaten!

I wouldn't have said it was Hexadrive if I did. My mistake. :P

Still, I'm surprised by how bad the AA is. It seems like the worst version of FXAA. This doesn't seem to work with SweetFX either so I may be stuck with no AA at all.

Just downsample it from 4k! It's a PSP game, how hard could it be???

The AA solution looks like ass and does terrible things to performance.
Mouse cursor is always on the screen.
Resolution options are lacking.
Also the thing with decimal is ridiculous.

Otherwise it seems like a stable if barebones port.

The game won't even start on Windows 10 :-/

Starts fine here, but I needed to change the decimal setting as per someone's suggestion.

So, seems like this is HexaDrive's first misstep in their otherwise stellar record. I mean, these guys got a game to run at 4K on the PS3 with a non-fluctuating framerate.

Jesus christ though, there's so many fuckups in this. 1080p maximum, 30FPS cap that should have been fixed back on the PS4 anyway, crappy Mouse/Keyboard controls with the mouse rendering on top of the screen despite being nonfunctional for the most part...

I'm in a real "Ehhhh" position here. I like the game itself so far, but the port is ass. I mean, it's ahead of FF13 in some respects, but there's a lot of steps back from FF13 in others (Seriously, FF13 plays like a charm with MnK controls).

What. The hell. Happened.

Also, yeah, only use minimum AA. When I had my AA maxed out I was averaging 15FPS (Hello, multiplayer on Altis, I missed you! No, no I didn't.), set it down to Normal and managed 30.

MGS3DS is overall a poor port, but one can say also, the game itself was a poor fit for the portable.

The specs you just listed aren't exactly high end.

FFXIV runs about a billion times better than Type-0 on my PC and is way prettier graphically.

It's not my PC that's the problem. It's the game. There is no reason my PC shouldn't be locking this at 30 FPS on max settings.
