I don't know about gray fox, but the reddit poster does say you recruit him and you go on a special mission with him involving the Naomi hunter backstory

Jesus Christ. Feels like there's more questions than ever.

And after the French reviews we legit thought it was going to be simple.

If this all turns out to be a ruse within a ruse, as in there's actually no ruse at all, Kojima's got us right where he wants us.

This game seems like it will do what mgs4 did.., but with gameplay instead of cut scenes
By answering a lot of unanswered questions.

I always wondered why this horn looked so out of place and why he had no scars.

IMO, Kojima literally copy and pasted the horn on there, just for the trailer to convince everyone he's Venom Snake. This is actually the real Big Boss. This scene is at the end of the game, and he doesn't have the horn there. Instead of "Diamond Dogs, our new home", Kiefer would say "Outer Heaven, our new home."

LOOK, this is the leaked achievement, "the man who sold the world"

WHERE'S THE HORN???

Shiiiiit. This it. The man who sold the world...

Bit boss was never in a coma, he just came up with some crazy body double shit over 9 years to beat zero, I bet.

From the reddit poster: it took 9 years as a metaphor for birth. With the HELP of Zero, Kaz aided in the LET project, where Venom Snake was born. ZERO helped because both parties want Skull Face dead.

He was in at least one coma. He was in a coma when they cloned him during LET.

Unless they retcon that or come up with a contrived way to say that didn't happen that way because XYZ.

I love how Skull Face wanted CIPHER and Big Boss to end each other but instead his two enemies join forces to kill him. HA!

So did Kaz love and respect Big Boss SO MUCH, that he went ahead with a loony cloning project? I assume he had no real say in the matter,

So if this Venom Snake guy was in the 1972 LET project, then he just might be Solidus. He ages much faster than Liquid and Solid who are still kids.

Nope because he's not a DNA match for Eli

Right. Nevermind.

Please explain to someone who has never been able to make any sense of this series story. So this time around, you're playing yet another Big Boss clone?

So...Big Boss goes into hiding, forms Outer Heaven, has Kaz fake an alliance with Zero in order to bring him out of hiding....has his most loyal soldier, Frank Jaeger, take his place in order to make Zero believe he's Big Boss etc...and when Zero perhaps still refuses unless BB comes back to work for him...he's forced to rejoin FOXHOUND but bide his time until Metal Gear 1/2?

i dunno. KOJIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Edit: Wasn't Solidus born after Liquid + Solid? What if it was for this purpose in particular...unless people have already mentioned it....

It really depends on HOW you play. You can beat 3 in about 90 minutes, same as the other MGS titles and end up having quite a lopsided gameplay:cutscene ratio.

MGSV seems like a departure from this, at least allegedly so far. Even if you play fast, the cutscenes are not seemingly so numerous.
This baffles me because unless you are a speed runner you won't be beating the game in 90 minutes. Even if you could, the other games are the same. The difference here is in how the cut scenes are paced throughout the game and they are most definitely paced differently than in mgs1, 2 or 4. Most of the cut scenes in 3 are at the beginning and then end. This is not affected in the slightest by how you play, it's just how they are distributed. I really think your missing my point but let's just agree to disagree please.

You are absolutely correct to say that MGS3 is paced a bit differently than the others.

But it's still not the pace that appears to be here in MGSV which is fairly slow and seemingly sparse in story.

Sorry if I'm splitting hairs. Not trying to be annoying lol

Maybe? There's conflicting info here. There's a Reddit post saying that that seems to match up with some legit info, but also might be mostly bullshit with a few lucky guesses, and then there's an Italian guidebook that apparently hints that it's not the real Big Boss based on incongruities in cutscenes not matching up with the whole "Big Boss loses his arm and gets shrapnel in his head at the end of GZ" story but does not confirm it.

It might be a clone, it might be some other soldier who was "transformed" into Big Boss via plastic surgery and Metal Gear neuroscience fuckery, maybe it really is Big Boss and this whole thing is a misunderstanding until more concrete info comes out.

Heh. I guess in the end you come face to face with the man who sold the world. I thought it would be Zero but BB could work.

Although I wasnt there, he said I was his friend
Which came as some surprise I spoke into his eyes
I thought you died alone, a long long time ago.

Right. Nevermind.
It's not Solidus, although he is mentioned. Kaz tells Big Boss about LET, Big Boss freaks out and attempts to kills Venom Snake (Venom is still in a coma at this point). big Boss has a change of heart and realizes this is a good way of getting the upper hand against Skull Face.
Everything I say are not of my own experiences with the game, they are a reddit poster's account, but I believe him.

One thing about Ishmael being Big Boss that hasn't sold me. The whole time we see Ishmael his right eye isn't gone, unlike Big Boss...

Edit: Wasn't Solidus born after Liquid + Solid? What if it was for this purpose in particular...unless people have already mentioned it....

Solidus was created later when Big Boss left the Patriots due to the Les Enfants Terrible project in 1972. They needed a figure to match the iconic Big Boss.

Here's my one beef from the reddit poster's story...
So Quiet is instructed by Zero to break into the hospital and attack Venom Snake in order to elevate him to Big Boss status through a traumatic experience. She is told, however to kill the doctor because he knows too much. The nurse is set on fire by Mantis, falls out the window. This is where Ishmael/Big Boss says, "We gave her a light, she took the short way down".
If you freeze the phantom trailer reveal, you do see the Nurse on fire, but she is wearing black military attire. This isn't explained, unless she works for Skull Face.

Also, hold on a second. Venom Snake not being a DNA match to Eli doesn't necessarily mean that VS isn't Big Boss. Its mentioned many times that Solid and Liquid weren't genetically identical to BB. Maybe we've jumped the gun with some of these. I'm not sure I buy everything the guide mentions.

One thing about Ishmael being Big Boss that hasn't sold me. The whole time we see Ishmael his right eye isn't gone, unlike Big Boss...
I don't think we can see clearly because of the bandages providing shadows over the eyes. Just to play Devils advocate, if a horn was shoehorned onto a bike ridding Big Boss, an eye could be added as well.

But then why is Venom working with Skullface in the trailers? Why in the trailers does Kaz want revenge against Cipher? If they already knew about Skullface then he can't be tricking them. Is Kojima trying to fool us?

HUGE SPOILER "Big Boss" has to kill everyone on Mother Base near the ending because of a vocal cord parasite

from the guy with the guide on REDDIT, PumaWarrior.

Yeah. I forgot about the reasoning. Wouldn't be surprised at a mini retcon if it pans out but eh. Roll on Sept1 1st...

1980s Nanomachines, son.

Good point though...I'm assuming there could be some "reasonable" explanation, but being a Kojima game I don't expect any of the pieces to really click until we can have context.

So GZ was literally the tanker and its mgs2 all over again.

not sure how i feel.

Not necessarily. Allegedly (from Reddit hearsay) the GZ we played is the "false memory" of Venom Snake or something so technically we've never played as Big Boss yet.

HUGE SPOILER "Big Boss" has to kill everyone on Mother Base near the ending because of a vocal cord parasite

from the guy with the guide on REDDIT.

What the hell? A vocal cord parasite? What does that even mean? Is this gonna be related to all that LANGUAGE jargon? Oh lawd...

What about the image of Ishmael from the guide where you can clearly see his right eye?

I'm not gonna link it cuz its a scan, but if you haven't seen it I'm sure you can find it if you look hard enough, or I can PM you.

Truth be told, the big boss on the bike always came off as different from the ones we were shown in the trailer... More confidence... More sure of himself.

Christ, he totally SOUNDS different too.

He actually does sound more like Kiefer's Ishmael, and not Kiefer's Venom Snake.

Unless I'm missing a trailer, think that's Miller's voice.

Water messes with Quiet's power apparently. So wouldn't being drenched in blood like in that poster not be such a good thing?

Not necessarily. Allegedly (from Reddit hearsay) the GZ we played is the "false memory" of Venom Snake or something so technically we've never played as Big Boss yet.

So what about Paz and Chico then? How does Paz die? Where is Chico?
This means that Paz died way back in Peace Walker when she fell into the OCEAANN!
What about Chico? Put on a bus like Amanda & the rest?

But we do get to play the real ground zeroes mission as Big Boss in tpp

So I paid $10 for fairy dust? OH FFS KOJIMA!
Is the TRUE Ground Zeroes only accessible if you have a GZ save? Hence the return to Camp Omega?
This means CAMP OMEGA was indeed infiltrated by Big Boss but there was no crash and some other stuff happened differently

Thanks mate but I remember seeing it in a reddit post, I'll search for it again. If so, it's an excellent point, problem is... Kojima games are never what they seem. Red Herring galore.

Ok. Here's a thought- what if big boss, at the end of ground zeroes, goes into hiding for 9 years as some sort of master manipulator. Basically doing some fucked up experiments to frank Yeager for 9 years. Rebuilding him into Venom Snake, big boss's body double that doesn't even know he's a body double.

An ending revealing that the real Big Boss was there assisting, and controlling as "ishmael" with a covered face in the beginning when venom snake would be at his most vulnerable. As soon as venom snake can stand on his own two feet again, big boss fades into the background to manipulate as a "phantom."

While venom snake (frank yeager) isn't the real big boss, he's a "phantom" as well.
