Lara Croft GO is clearly the product of a love for what the Tomb Raider series used to mean. Your pistols are more of a tool than a weapon, and you certainly won't be killing an island's worth of men. A lovely visual style and a zen-inspiring score provide backdrops to my favorite Croft adventure in some time. I'm now grateful for the delineation between the action-filled Tomb Raider and puzzle-focused Lara Croft games. Even though I enjoyed 2013's hectic reboot, sometimes you just want to stop and breath it all in, tomb dust and all.

With sharp design, plenty of content, and elegant presentation, Lara Croft GO is one of the best puzzle games of the year
The Sixth Axis - 9/10
Lara Croft GO is more than just an experiment, going way beyond its developer’s vision to distill yet another iconic license into something smaller. Instead, it stands on its own as one of the year’s best games for mobile and tablet, thanks to simple yet intuitive gameplay that strikes a perfect balance between being fun and challenging. Tomb Raider fan or not, Lara Croft GO is a must-have and will hopefully continue to expand in the months to come.
Gamezebo - 4.5/5
Lara Croft GO has more of everything, both style and substance, than Hitman GO, and is even cleverer about adapting an existing franchise in a brand new way. You wouldn’t want every Tomb Raider game to be like this, but you should be able to appreciate just how well this one turned out.

A very well designed, beautiful-looking puzzle game that, while occasionally fiendishly tricky, is thoroughly enjoyable to play. It hits just the right balance of being tough, but not so difficult that you'll want to throw down your iOS device in frustration: the solution is always staring at you in the face.
IGN - 8.5/10
All the heart and spirit of classic Tomb Raider in a miniature puzzle game package.
Pocket Tactics - 4/5
Where Lara Croft GO surprised me was in improving on the Hitman GO formula I loved in a few crucial ways, without losing anything I liked about it other than the tabletop-style presentation and the Ave Maria. Sadly, it’s dreadfully short. Given the expansion pattern of the earlier game, I have hope that we’ll see a lot more of Lara Croft solving puzzles very enjoyable content.

Lara Croft GO distills the core aspects of the franchise - the exotic locations and ruins, the dangerous traps and creatures lurking within, environmental puzzles and agile climbing - into a mobile-friendly experience that's simple to control but still challenging and engaging.

I'll posting be my review on my blog tomorrow, so I can't say too many details. but I'll say that this impressed me in the same way that Hitman GO did: a faithful distillation of the franchise's core aspects into a touch-friendly experience

Loved Hitman GO but it was so short that achieving 100% in the in game achievements + 3 stars in each level was really easy.

Can't imagine Lara Croft GO is any shorter. At least a level creator?

Well Hitman and LC feel pretty different. The former was a straight up puzzle game while Lara Croft Go is more of an action-puzzle adventure. I'd say my playthrough was about 5 hours, spread out over a few days, getting stuck on some puzzles and coming back later

Ahh! that's good to know. I thought it was a puzzle game as well. That will keep my expectation in check. No replay value I assume once you beat a level?

Well it's still a puzzle game, but it feels like an adventure rather than Hitman's board game style.

Not the biggest mobile fan, but I bought Hitman GO on sale for like .75 cents and it's decent fun. $4.99 seems steep for what these games are though, but I'll wait for impressions.

I'm stoked to play this. I really loved Hitman GO. I hope they keep giving their franchises this look and feel. It's a perfect example of great adaptation for mobile.

YES! Two hours until I can get this game, looks really amazing! (Ski Safari 2 will keep me well occupied until then)

Really glad square/Eidos is still keeping the classicy Tomb raider world alive. Kinda hoping they go all in and make a classic TR game, doesnt even need to be big budget.

I'm actually hoping GO is considered a franchise at this point.

Like, Thief GO is a no-brainer and they could probably get really creative with Deus Ex GO. It's basically a line of digital board game adaptations. Why stop now?

5 hours? Great! I heard a reviewer finished it in less than two hours and were a little worried. Awesome, and hour and 40 minutes left :D

Wow, really, less than two hours? That's like a Monument Valley or Kiwanuka, and this definitely was longer than those. He must have been rushing

To be fair, I take my time, and enjoy the art and music, so I'd say 4.5 to 5 hours IMO. Also depends of course how fast you complete puzzles, if you get stumped for a bit, etc.

Probably rushed through it to make his review in time for launch. I, like you, like to savor my games, enjoy them at the right pace uncovering all the secrets.. Pretty much what I will be doing here in an hour and a half :D Cant wait!

Does this go live on the windows store at the same time as the others? Definitely picking this up as soon as it does. Excited to play Lara again where it's more about puzzles than killing :D

I think I overestimated my inital playtime, that's what I get for playing across five days.

Replayed the game now and rushing as fast I as could, dying as few times possible, knowing off the puzzle solutions took 1 hour 20 minutes, so I'd say a first time playthrough would probably take about 3+ hours.

Lara Croft GO is out now on the United Kingdom (Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Great Britain), and Canary Islands! And 4 more hours until it hits the west coast :D

I participated on the Twitter contest for "Pick a press release title" but I cant wait (my intent was and still is to buy it as soon as I can), so if I won, give it to another person. Now to enjoy this :D

Crazy to think I'm excited about the launch of a smartphone game, but here I am.
Will pick this up when it hits the Play Store.
