Operation Intrude N313 will only unlocked after day one patch. I have read it on many place and even saw someone post that KOnami's CM decided not to comment on a secret ending.

Remember the Gamestop leak. Russia and United States as two locations.
I think at this points the Russia and U.S. "Leak" was just a mix up between Russian occupied Afghanistan and U.S. Is Camp Omega? I hope it's not but it's certainly looking that way.

So are we really all thinking that we will get to play a MG1 remake through a day 1 patch? That's not gonna happen, if anything it makes you wonder why Kojima and KojiPro are staying until December.

Operation Intrude N313 as paid DLC perhaps?

Hi, so I just finished Ground Zeroes and i have a question. Please I'd like no major spoilers if thats possible.

I just need to know if you figh
t Skull Face
as a boss. I really want to kill him after what he does to
Paz and Chico
in Ground zeroes.

Did some edits to get some facts right. Thanks to GAF user Bad.

Afghanistan was indeed occupied by the Soviet. But the Gamestop leak mentioned Cold War Russia and MGS3 did took place during the cold war. Before 1984, the cold war had ended. Russia, according to Project Itoh is where Big Boss established Outer Heaven. The author states that Groznyj Grad in MGS3 and Outer Heaven are one and the same place.

Secondly, United States - Big Boss returns to USA to take care of Fox Hound.

That was no goof up or mistake or mix by Gamestop. It was a genuine leak.

The final ending is going to happen. Post launch.

Russia never occupied Afghanistan.

I was sure that Soviet Union troops occupied Afghanistan. I believe I read it yesterday.... And, of course, THERE ARE RUSSIAN TROOPS IN AFGHANISTAN IN THE GAME.
But, I believe the leak.

I need a missle for the next two missions and I can't find one. My R and D is not even close to being ranked up enough to make one. What am I missing?

Should have said Soviet occupied Afghanistan, which it is in TPP. Soviet, Russia, can you where they could make a mistake.

Also what? Outer Heaven has been retconned to be in Russia?
"In the late 1980s, Big Boss used the funds he amassed during his mercenary career to expand his force and establish a fully independent nation, "Outer Heaven," 200 kilometers north of Galzburg, South Africa".
If GameStop leaked Russia and U.S. As places we visit, it would have been taken down. It still hasn't been changed.

Edit: Going to Russia wouldn't even make sense in TPP. Kojima would have to make a brand new story up just so it'd make sense. Nothing happened that was big in Russia in the 1980's.

Literally the only thing we have as evidence to say operation intrude will happen is the fact TPP takes place over a few years.
Oh and the tape called Operation Intrude N313. This means the game probably ends in 1994-1995 and Outer Heaven has already been built.

It isn't a leak, Konami would have jumped on that and had it changed. It hasn't been so please don't get your hopes up.

No.

At least not directly. You do get to fight "his" Metal Gear (Sahelanthropus) after it goes a bit haywire. Its destruction causes rubble to crash down on Skull Face, trapping him and almost killing him. I won't spoil who finishes him or how he meets his demise exactly.

I wish the day one patch was true, but I just don't think it will be. I would love for the game to actually end with Hayter going, "This is snake, Commencing operation intrude n313," but I don't anything like that will happen.

What if it were a codec with no voices, would you still "rike" it?

I'm asking again:

1- What is it with the scene with the two Elis we saw in the trailer?
2- Is there any other cases of those weird orange bars? I know the torture scene (forget if it's Quiet or Huey) and the battle against Salhentropopoulos has some.

edit: What if the MG1 remake is actually... playing MG1 on a virtual MSX in TPP? That would be cheap enough to make. They just fix the storyline/dialogue, done. That would be "Volume 2", as in, the second part of TPP.

But at the end of the day, can anyone really explain why this character was given so much importance? Of all the eccentric, fleshed out named characters with their own special histories available in the Metal Gear franchise, why this random background non-character would possibly be given the crown and scepter and proclaimed the end-all-be-all most important in the kingdom? It would be a bit like if an unnamed inn-keeper Arya bumps into early in Game of Thrones/ASOIAF was revealed to be an amnesiac dragon whisperer from ancient legend and the key to ending the entire series. From a purely story/narrative-driven perspective, it's weird at best and atrocious at worst.
How is a character who dies during the events of Metal Gear 1 the most important person in the "kingdom?" He isn't relevant to any of the games outside of this one, really. There's barely any quality characters that exist in the story at this point to be the protagonist, either. Ocelot, maybe, but Kojima seems to have written him as an entirely different character in this game so probably not. Kojima probably just wrote backwards from the body double plot twist anyway, and having Venom Snake turn out to actually be Ocelot/Miller would be even more stupid.

Also it's a problem of Game of Thrones that so many characters from the books were condensed into one in the show. I think perhaps you're misguided to think that a story is better if the same small group of people are behind every single thing that happens. It's a pretty major problem with this series, really, that everything is related in some dumb way.

If am not mistaken, it means Volume 2.

I believe that is why thabtoUK believes there to be one other part. If there is a volume 2, it's possible there is a volume 1.

Indeed. And the two tapes make exactly the same sound, it's unmistakable.

Here's my post again.

In the first ending of The Phantom Pain, Venom Snake puts a tape marked "Operation Intrude N313" into an MSX2 data recording deck. The tape then emits a high-pitched squeling sound and boots up an MSX2 connected to the deck:

http://youtu.be/fU40NlqBAiE?t=2m53s

In Ground Zeroes, you collect a tape called "Classified Intel Data" which, when data-mined, makes exactly the same high-pichted squealing noise:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa2crz9XWAM

This is apparently the same noise an MSX2 used to make when loading saved data from a cassette tape.

Look man. I did not trusted your leaks. I thought you posted fake stuff. Sorry about that.

But do you understand that you are playing with my heart here? I really want Solid Snake in this game. And that tape is a MASSIVE hint.

Please dig in more, check in with your sources. Get me the good news and make this 18 year old MGS veteran feel happy :)

So I'm sure that's what it is: an MG1, and maybe MG2 remake, that you can play in TPP/GZ using the MSX itself in the game. They'll just have updated the dialogue/plot.

Makes sense when Kojima would say it has never been done and can only be done in a video game, and that they don't have the resources to remake them while making TPP. They would have the resources to just change some lines and pixels in the original games.

So we'll probably play as Solid Snake alright, lol.

Alright thanx. Would have preffered a 1 on 1 like Liquid though.

Sorry, just speculation on my part at the minute, none of this should be taken as actual proof.

However, there is this as well:

http://www.reddit.com/r/metalgearso..._hayter_didnt_run_into_any_of_the_metal_gear/

David Hayter was definitely in the same recording studio when The Phantom Pain recording sessions were happening. And at the same time.

Again, not saying this proves anything, just seems very, very odd.

So the best part is that this twist has indirectly screwed over Solid Snake, again.

In MG2, Snake was traumatized and had nightmares over Big Boss betraying him. In MGS1, that trauma is worsened by the knowledge that he's killed his own father.

Then in MGSV we find out that Snake wasn't really fighting Big Boss in Outer Heaven at all, and in MGS4 it turns out that Big Boss got over that little case of death pretty quickly.

Like for 15-20 years Snake's most meaningful moments of his life are total lies and he has no idea. Heck, he never found out about the phantom thing, because Big Boss had to spend 10 minutes yammering about 0s and 1s and never got around to explaining that part. What a pecker!

Maybe the MSX games will have voice-overs, so when you play as Solid Snake in the MG1 MSX game in TPP, he will speak using Hayter's voice, while BB will still be voice by Keith.

Yay I'm the first to come up with the idea that you will play an MSX MG1 in TPP, and I am almost certain I'm right now lol.

But do you understand that you are playing with my heart here? I really want Solid Snake in this game.

This right here is the problem with most fans, and the reason why there was a gigantic initial backlash to Sons of Liberty and, now, this game (if you replace Solid Snake with Big Boss). Most fans say they care about the story, but in the end what they most care about is being able to fulfill a power fantasy through their favorite hero. When that gets taken away from them in order to impressively subvert earlier established plot points or player agency, everyone loses their shit and calls Kojima a hack. Which I think is super unfair, as I think it's hypocritical to judge Kojima on his writing if you secretly (and possibly even unconsciously) just want him to, essentially, just make new versions of MGS1 or 3.

(I'm not hating on you btw, snake_eater_raiden; I'm just using your post to express a "problem" which, I think, is very prevalent in MG fandom and is also eschewing players from enjoying Kojima's messages. And I say "problem" with parenthesis because it's not a real problem, of course, just something I personally regret. I also want to point out that I don't think it's "wrong" to (merely and) primarely want to play as Solid Snake; everyone should enjoy the game in the way they see fit, of course.)

My final, final theory is this.

TPP isn't the "true" metal gear game. This was the one made by the "b" team as a ruse.

The real MGS V as worked on by Kojima is actually
No Man's Sky. The center of the galaxy is where MGS V takes place.

Think long and hard about it. It makes sense.

I do not believe I have ever seen a person call Kojima a hack because Solid Snake hasn't made an appearance in every game.

I do not believe I have ever seen a person call Kojima a hack because Solid Snake hasn't made an appearance in every game.

I have.

But my post wasn't necessarily about Solid Snake; he was just one of many examples. The essence of my post was that most fans have that one element (or more) that they expect, want or need to see in a new Metal Gear game. And when Kojima doesn't deliver on that expectation, they often emotionally lash out at the game. It's that emotion (disappointment) that often stands in the way of them being able to properly look at the narrative, underlying messages or mechanics that Kojima did deliver on. (This is also the reason why I know quite a few MGS fans who hated Sons of Liberty when it came out, but subsequently started appreciating it for the post-modern, Ulysses-like masterpiece it is years later, after their initial emotional response had faded away and they were suddenly able to play it without undermining expectations.)

Whether that element is being able to play as Solid Snake or Big Boss, or wanting the narrative to be grounded in either reality or the supernatural, or wanting a certain character to get more screen time, doesn't matter.

You can argue that TPP might still be badly written in your opinion, and that's fine; it's a matter of opinion that we can discuss but, in the end, should always respect. But you can't argue that a very large part of the fandom has the problem that I just described. In fact, it's what I hate about fandom in general, whether it's being a fan of a game series, film series or a band. When someone becomes part of a fandom, they feel somehow entitled to see a sequel that pleases them emotionally. Which is understandable but in the end a bit self-defeating when it comes to wanting to be impressed by an author. Critics often don't have this problem, as they can see separate products or pieces of art for what they're supposed to be more easily than consumers.

This also has to do with being a fan for escapism reasons or for a game's artistic value; two very different things. Often the fans of the former criticize the latter, which I think isn't always fair. (It's possible to be fan of both elements, of course.)

Did some searching and found it:

http://www.msx.org/forum/msx-talk/general-discussion/metal-gear-solid-5-cassette-tape?page=1

When datamined and decoded, the tape in Ground Zeroes gives an MSX2 save state titled "VOL2", which seems to suggest at least one other part ;-)
Thanks Thabto! Your seriously becoming one of my favourite gaffers.
Thank you for curbing my "hopes"
It's ok, I obviously could be wrong but I'm not believing the GameStop leak because we have no proof.

Thank you EmCee, this is what I was saying a few pages back, it has ruined Solid as a character.

I don't see how it ruins Solid. He still did what he did, saw what he saw, and felt what he felt. MG1 big boss not being real doesn't change any of that.

It does for me though, one of the reasons he's my greatest character ever was the fact his backstory was awsome. Kojima changing that moment when Big Boss told him he was his father is now ruined.

The fact that he was so determined to stop Liquid, Solidus and Ocelot all stems from the fact he was betrayed in MG1 by his own father/clone.

At this point I can't help but wonder what kind of person Kojima-san is in his real life.....this man has one of most twisted minds......A business negotiation with him must a nightmare....those fiddled Konami executives...
