According to Steam I have played TPP for 13 hrs and only with 5% completion. This game is consuming my life. I completed up to mission 6 and whatever side ops is offered

Just got mission 16, and read the description for it. It mentions extracting
a transport truck. Do I need to have the fulton capable of lifting trucks, or can I extract it via other means
?

Where can I find the picture saying all of the requirements for the codename emblems? I just got the Fox one and want to know what I did to get it. Same with the bear.

the tapes can sometimes be good but often they're a bit monotonous, plus like others said it really doesn't help when ocelot and kaz sound almost exactly the same.

i never accuse MGS series of this but these are just poor choices of voice actors, almost no distinction at all (and no emotion either) and i can rarely tell who is talking when i'm being briefed on tape. keifer phoned these lines in for sure, i didn't mind the announcement of a different actor playing boss since i think it's neat to have big boss and solid snake with different voices but if it was gonna be this lazy should have just gotten hayter back again.

They should have kept David Hayter and Patrick Zimmerman.

What the hell is going on here?
I'm playing offline, but during the mission Kaz called me and told me that the mother base is under attack and they are holding hostages. I went back to mother base and there was nothing!! I didn't even complete the mission :/

If there's a fight against Quiet (as they have said in interviews), then I expect it to play similarly to Sniper Wolf, with Quiet moving from building to building, and both of you sniping it out. I haven't seen the fight anyway, so I don't know.

So mission 8 question...

Is this pretty much impossible without a missile launcher? I couldn't take down even one of the tanks with about 6 shots from a gernade launcher, let alone 3 tanks. Kinda sucks that I bossed the stealth stuff in the first half of the mission and now I'm just screwed.

So why is that completed Side-Ops are sometimes playable again, despite being ticked? Just to give you something to do once you've finished everything?

Hmm.. For such a massively anticipated game, it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near as much attention as I would have thought? In terms of threads, news stories, articles, and so forth. Is it because everyone is busy playing it?

Has anyone heard how big the game is, by the way?

gameplay is tighter than the series has ever been though, keeps me coming back to the game.

I agree. Slightly disappointed at the voice acting.

I ended up qutting at the start of episode 2 cause I realized the game never prompted me to import my GZ save. I go to the main menu and there is the option... but I can't do it cause the servers are down. I'm gonna wait for that before I play more.

Man, I am reeeeaaaaaallly nervous about this game. I love strong narrative in games, which all the MGS's had... but then Peace Walker happened which I couldn't get into and now this game is going to be the same way I fear...

I really don't know why Kojima turned the series into this, but all I can do is accept it and hope I end up enjoying it. Most open-world games bore me because of their lack of narrative structure. To explain what I mean by this; I like Batman: Arkham Asylum way more than the sequels because it is more tightly directed.

MGS1-4 were great, I miss that.

Does the game delivery a good narrative or is it very little in the grand scheme of things?

Interrogate someone; they should reveal the location of an anti tank vehicle on the route the tanks take. You can use that and destroy the tanks from behind.

I put 2 C4s on one of them while there was a sandstorm. That barely put a dent in them but they did smoke up a bit. But yea I needed a launcher to finish them off. So for me it took 2 C4s + 3 missiles to take out one. You could probably do it with C4 but it will take like 4-8 lol

Playing artists tracks like Rebel Yell whilst on a mission is a serious trip.

Can you find BB on the base outside of cutscenes and the scripted stuff? Someone just said I should visit so he doesn't get lonely.

Can you reply rhe earlier missions?

Yeah, in fact it's encouraged. You can aim for better ratings (the hallowed 'S' rank) and more resources for your base I presume, and replaying the missions opens up extra objectives which were hidden the first time round.

Yup. Arkham City bored me to the point where I didn't get Origins or Knight. Asylum was superior ten fucking fold for this reason. I don't love open world stuff unless it's a sprawling fantasy, but I don't have a problem with this yet thankfully. As long as it keeps being fun and the story is there, I'm good.

That being said I'm definitely a bigger fan of the tightly paced narrative of say the original, but gameplay wise I feel this is a natural evolution. Just wish the story could have been more prominent but it's a minor quibble that could either go away or get worse as it goes along.

Anyone got any tips for the shooting gallery on the R&D platform? There seems to be some sort of flow to the targets winding down, but then it starts leading you inwards where all the stairs & pipes are and I just get lost.

I'm missing the MGS4 cinematics (my first MGS game). I find the ending of each mission bizare, it's a break from the norm and l shrug my shoulders and think well yeah the mission was good but why do l need to know who directed it.

So a couple days back people were saying you can find something early if you snoop around mother base.

I've been to every nook but I can't find it. What am I looking for?

Well shit, I just aborted it. I only interrogated 1 person and they revealed where the documents were. Oh well, good to know there's always a way. One of my favorite parts about Metal Gear. I was worried that it was a level uo your base or shut up kind of thing.

Completed Mission 3 and 5 Side-Ops missions. Mission 3 didn't take me an hour, but man it was a mess. So many hits taken and my Heroism took a hit as well. Ended up with a C Rank D:

As for the Side-Ops, I actually liked them. Plenty to explore (collecting/gathering materials and soldiers/animals), and gives me plenty of time to come up with an effective method to infiltrate a base without being detected. Having the weather play a role is also a great bonus. A sandstorm really came in handy when I was trying to escape a base while extracting a prisoner. Multiple soldiers everywhere, low on ammo for my tranquilizer gun (with the suppressor close to going out as well). That sandstorm really saved my ass and the prisoner's too.

And I even managed to get DD during my playthrough. Still a pup but I can't wait to take on him on missions with me. I'll probably get to the main missions so I can expand Mother Base and open up new units.

Any idea on how equip the phantom cigar?

I've completed the first 11 missions and most the side ops so far.

1) what does fultoning sheep do, besides a funny noise? I've fultoned many, but I'm not sure what they contribute.

2) I noticed recently I'm now able to
play as other characters when I deploy besides just Boss. What effect does this have on the game, and what effect does it have on doing main missions? BTW, I noticed as I leave the chopper as whatever other NPC instead of Boss, the pilot still calls me "Boss".

That Konami Online stuff is such pain. Doesn't seem to add anything relevant nor interesting into the game [outside of GZ import] while increases games start time noticeably, iDroid gets a lot slower and missions load slower. More downsides to logging in than upsides.
