Jeez, you really are a demon.

Wait so what's the GAF opinion on this game so far? Like everyone and my friends list is playing it (and this includes some people who NEVER buy ANYTHING at release).

So I just finished mission 7 and have every section of my base upgraded at least once, but why can't I find anything? Unless I'm just blind I can't find the places where people and animals go on mb. Can't find the puppy anywhere either.

WTF just happened with my Steam download. Earlier I was already at 39% now it's back to 16%! My download speed isn't that great so it frustrates me that it's taking longer for me to play this game.

I've never seen Steam actually roll back a download. Most likely, it was reading 16% of a smaller total size.

Like, it may have gone from 39% of 20 GB to 16% of 12 GB. This can happen if Steam is restarted during a download. Check your Downloads section to see the total size of the download.

Two sessions with this game and I'm smitten with it, and I don't feel that way about the MGS series really. The gameplay systems are numerous and allow for cool emergent moments on the battlefield. The Mother Base building aspect is scratching that itch for RPG like customization and diving into pages of upgrade trees and soldier stats. Both aspects feed into each other the more time you spend with them and effectively create that "one more turn" feeling I usually get with turn based strategy titles instead of open world action games.

The game looks great and controls smoothly, thank KojiPro for 60fps on consoles. Load times are mercifully quick, especially coming off of The Witcher 3. Enemy AI is impressive, equally challenging and fun to mess around with so far. Collectibles and side missions feel meaningful - hearing the dulcet tones of
Maneater
and dropping everything mid mission to search for its source was a memorable moment. Presentation is uniquely stylish, the tone straddles the line between surreal, bleak, tense and silly and the storytelling is intriguing but restrained, with plenty of room to grow into the madness lying underneath.

I've barely scratched the surface and already there's so much to like about this game. Really hope that feeling holds up. Only thing I'm iffy on is the sound design, some questionable generic effects and voice acting direction/talent that I'm not entirely sure works for me yet, even if the performances are mostly fine.

The credits are such a bad element in such a great game. Not only are they immersion breaking, they also spoil stuff. It's also irritating to see the same thing over and over again.

Hoping someone creates a mod to take them out.
But then you could see kojimas name like 90 times! I thought that was the point?

S Rank basically boils down to "gotta go fast" from what I've seen. Or at least, speed seems to have a good chunk of the weight.

I'm having fun with it. Only had time to clear three missions, though. Got DD and the translator basically as soon as I started my second mission, so that was nice.

The gameplay is pretty much everything I wanted. It definitely deserves those high scores.

The story is not everything I wanted but it's not criminally bad either. I like the historical aspects of it but the (lack of) characters themselves suck. So does the plot kinda. That being said, it's an interquel. It was never meant to be some grand conclusion, but instead a bridge in a story gap.

Hey so I wonder if anyone can help me, I am notoriously stingy with resources in most games but I imagine in this game you spend money to make money?

Are the mother base upgrades that start to generate revenue/ resources? I imagine having them early will be good?

in the middle of a side ops prison infiltration I hit y to swing off a rail and snake vaults the rail and falls to his death.

thanks snake

Interesting to see that they aren't trying to fetishize Quiet -- I mean, on the surface it's the most sexualized looking character I've seen in a good while. But her behaviour, animations -- especially in that shower scene (I know how that sounds, but trust me on this one), she seem's incredibly alien, it's quite uncomfortable. I haven't gotten to the end yet, I'm not too far in, but so far it's all very intriguing, especially her strange adoration and respect of Big Boss. I'm really digging what they're doing with her character, I wouldn't feel unsatisfied if I didn't learn the intricacies of her origin (although I bet we learn about it, probably in tapes).

Nope. It's still the same total size as before. This is the first that has happened to me with Steam. Tried restarting Steam, still the same. This is frustrating.

look for staff with the troublemakers skill.
either fire them or put 2 troublemakers in the same unit so they cancel out.
i also think that if you have enough diplomats it won't trigger fights.
I was wondering what's the purpose of troublemaker skill, lol. They're so fired next time I got to play.

One of my few gripes with TPP are the mission spoilers when you're flying in, the whole "guest starring" thing. Just did one that said "Guess starring:
Skullface, The Man on Fire"
, kinda killed any surprise when it happened.

The Base Development strut produces Materials regularly.

You want to expand the other struts so can hold more people. Maybe you're really early but there will be some missions where you extract 10+ soldiers or more. It will get crowded fast.

If you don't want to decide what weapons to invest in and have not found your style yet, then just focus on the basics: upgrade your Fulton so you can double your capacity and start fultoning cargo and equipment. There are also certain common sense upgrades, like upgrading the speed on your chopper.

only thing I dislike is having to hold the RB for binoculars...I can't comfortably hold that button without strain. Rolling your finger over the button doesn't work for me.

Instead of watching 90% of the game, you are now playing 90% of the game with cutscenes being very minimal and spaced apart. I prefer it but its leagues away from the old MGS format.

Luckily the gameplay/stealth aspect is amazing.

Yeeeaaahh the XBO RB button is almost making me wish I got a 360 controller for my PC. Almost.

I'm confused about shutting down communications for enemy camps. I've come across "communications" camps before, and Kaz said something about destroying them to cut off enemy radio communications.

The most I've managed to do is turn off some generator looking thing next to the building with the satellite on top, but it seemed like enemies were still calling in reinforcements over the radio afterward.

Any way to speed up time in the game? Hard to see stuff during nighttime. Then again I'm at the first village in chapter 1 :/

Phantom Cigar.

Getting a little tired of the horde of D rank volunteers I'm getting after each mission, go out of my way to only Fulton A rank or higher soldiers, finish a mission, 5 D rank, 3 C rank volunteers.
