So I have some side ops that won't grey out after completion. Do I need to redo them?

Some side ops are repeatable missions. So sometimes you can rescue another prisoner or kidnap another guard in the exact same location, with the exact same patrol set-up as before, it can get slightly tedious.

Deploying ASAP to get the full time variation. Very fun to play this way, day missions are so much harder it seems, but I feel damn good when I do well on them.

Who knows how I'll feel about this game after a bunch of missions, but I personally just love being able to scope out a base and tag enemies before infiltrating. Something about that is really satisfying.

Does the FOB randomly pull people to man it during invasions? Or can I just fill it with a bunch of E tier grunts?

I'm assuming it's guarded by people in your Combat unit, which I'm hesitant and worried about, if any of my A rank fighters could potentially get killed/taken :/ Hope we can choose who's out there. Plenty of C's and D's to send out there.

Is there a way to stop the game from logging into Konami's servers everytime on startup on PC? Takes longer to login than it does to load the damn game.

As someone who've only played through GZ, read up on the peace walker story and a synopsis on the series. Is there any specific characters I should update myself on? Like characters in the opening as I'm a bit lost there. Or are they explained in the game?

Security Team I believe, not Combat.

Once you unlock FOBs it also unlocks Security Teams, haven't been able to make mine yet as I keep failing to connect to server so I assume they get pulled from that team.

Not in a bad way at all. Up until this point, all MGS games have felt like an evolution of the original MGS, but with V it feels like has completely changed for the better. Stealth, combat, and the game world have massively improved. That said, deep down it still has the essential MGS feel.

*nods head in approval*

Man, reading this thread is torture. I bought the game yesterday all excited and ready to jump in, but life has kept me from doing anything more than the prologue....=(

Listen to the tapes you get. Everything gets very roughy refreshed. Enough to understand who these characters are. Lahtough probably not indeph enough for the bigger picture I think.

I have gotten several S ranks on mission I was close to being a psycho murderer.

Just don't get spotted and finish the mission on time.

As a matter of fact in one mission (I think it was Mission 10)
The one where you have to rescue a bunch of prisoners on Kabul.

I killed everybody on that fort, they even spotted me once or twice and I ran over some dude that spotted me on the way to the helicopter.

Boom S Rank codename Doberman

EDIT: also used the checkpoint system more than once on that mission

The most important information about characters are explained in the game, mostly the broad strokes explained in Ground Zeroes is enough, if you haven't played Peace Walker.

When FOB's are unlocked you are granted an extra team called the security team, these are the guys who will defend your FOB. I definitely don't recommend filling it with E Rank grunts either lol. Those guys will be up against REAL players.

Edit: As well, the guns, equipment and armour that are marked in green on the development page, Can be equipped by security team members, so I recommend developing the green battle dress and some rocket launchers, shotguns etc.

Edit: the security team doesn't get auto filled when you press R3, you have to manually assign the staff.

Started up the game last night, made it (I think?) halfway through the prologue. Completely overwhelming and amazing.

So I keep getting the Octopus codename..I'm assuming it's because I'm tranqing everything that moves, so reaching out all over the place and strangling them?

My biggest problem with this game is how it's making me realize just how shitty MGSIV really was. You could fit all of IV's gameplay into 1 or 2 missions of TPP.

Is there a reason to do this other than stocking up on resources/ staff?

I'm inclined to forgo repeating missions

I thought the prologue was good, but not as amazing as others think. I guess horror doesn't do it for me in general though.

I kind of dread doing side-ops as I want to progress the story, but they end up being fun most of the time. No instant fast travel is a pain though apparently you can travel by being a stowaway box?

I love how much detail is put into the world just for the sake of it. Last night I stumbled onto some ruins and found a tower I could climb with the climbing cracks. I got to the top and nothing was up there, then I turned around and the vista was just stunning. Took some pictures but at work so can't post. Anyway, I really just love that there's all this to take in without "grab chest #32" being the reward. The exploration and sense of immersion is incredible. Reminds me of SotC kinda.

Same here.
In Afghanistan, I was just... running and exploring on D-Horse last night and it made me remember SotC, except for the fact that D-Horse controls like shit
(it's not awful, but coming from RDR and SotC it was not pleasant experience).

At most locations there are little orange areas with invoices attached to them, tear off the invoice and I think it lets you travel to other ones you've been to.

Coming from Witcher 3, D-Horse is a godsend.

Thankfully my DS4 just went dead, 1:30am, need to be up in 5hours.

Mission 18 was really something else. I used everything there, from support fire to heli's. And took down both the APC and Heli. I also killed many, but still got an A.

This confirms to me that you can really go all out. For S you probably only need a decent time and all side objectives.

Hmm, really? I think D-Horse controls great, then again I'm coming from Dragon Age: Inquisition where it felt like driving a tank. And shooting on D-Horse is WAY better than shooting on Agro.

I keep getting it as well lol.
FWIW, You get assigned a new codename when you consistently perform to the required criteria.
For example: The Foxhound codename is awarded to those that consistently complete missions with pefect stealth and no kills.

Is there an upper limit for soldiers on MB? I am on collecting spree and it's just so convenient to just fulton people out instead of having to hide them.

Those 3 commanders, I couldn't find a way to get them stealthily, so called in a bombardment, they're all dead :(

Did I miss out on high skilled workers for MB?

It's recommended you shoot out lights. Try to make sure nobody is around, but even if a guard or two is nearby they still might not notice it.

Warning: If lights are on a utility pole then shooting out the lights has a chance of making the wires go crazy for a little bit. That can attract attention.

Also you know there are electrical generators around the levels. You can turn those off.

thanks guys

i have spent way too any cycles trying to find the commander in this mission for the extras before rescuing Miller, where is he at that base I infiltrate at night and can't locate him at all? Please someone explain how I lure this turd out.

Thank you.

Does anyone have any advice for the Traitor's Caravan mission?

Where you have to
Extract a truck but are attacked by Skulls.
I'm having a terrible time and just getting wrecked everytime.

It's possible (probable?) that this ruin will have a mission/op in later on (I'm only on Mission 3 and have done ~4-5 side ops), but even so I still like that I could find it in free roam just by running around. Also randomly found D-Dog on the way to a side op.

A lot of people are enjoying the open world too. Just wish it resonated with me the same way.

+1

I don't think I've ever had this much of a love/hate relationship with an open world.

Pretty much. I really can't fucking stand Afghanistan at times. Like total "this is unbelievably boring" burnout. Then I'll get sucked into a great mission and fall back in love.
