I was lurking outside of a base, spying from a nearby hilltop, looking for a way in. Two dudes in a jeep drive up. They get out of the jeep. One gets back in and starts to drive. He hits and kills the other guy with the jeep. Then he jumps out, starts shouting, radios in that they've been attacked and there's a man down, and the base goes into an alert phase.

LOL Next gen

This game does the stealth stuff best out of any MGS game so far. It's a shame it doesn't really feel like a Metal Gear game to me though. It just feels really dry.

My friend pointed out that it comes off as so story heavy during the prologue and once you get in the "real" gameplay the pace completely bottoms out. Extremely minor spoiler, but I've played for at least 6 hours and
Have not seen Skullface in any capacity. He was mentioned once......in a random cassette tape......
.

I really like the game and will play the hell out of it, but as of now my big criticism would be that when you break it down, it feels like I'm playing RDR and stopping off to play Ground Zeroes every once in awhile.

This was also in Ground Zeroes. lmao

i got unbelievable lucky with the mission. I tranq'd a roaming patrol and the car stopped to check them out. Popped a few smoke grenades and just casually walked up and got in the drivers seat and took off. Took about 5 mins. It was awesome.

yeah i failed it

called in a chopper who killed everyone, i couldnt find any prisoners haha

i heard guards talking about Quiet though

Clever method to get away with running someone over tbf :P

Lmao

It can be kind of annoying how I can just be doing a mission and listening to tapes when Kaz interrupts with stuff like "HE'S COMING TOO? ALRIGHT" all the time.

I do like having people on the radio chime in, but I just wish it either kept the tape volume louder than them or at the very least kept showing the tape subtitles.

I know that's an oversight...but it's hilarious. If it's not an oversight, Kojima genius strikes again. AI cover their own asses on mistakes!

This happened to me but it did not trigger an Alert.

I had this happen but the guy just gets out of the jeep, walks over to his dead comrade, says "Damn...", gets back in the jeep and drives away. No alert phase or anything.

later you find a tape that the one guy was sleeping with the other guy's gal

I accidentally found Quiet's mission while going for a side-op, didn't even realize it was a mission until I was spotted and couldn't find the person who spotted me, lol

Finally logged into the servers and uploaded my GZ save file, but I didn't get any staff members. All I got was a gold bionic arm and something else.

Anyone know why?

I know I've rescued everyone in GZ.

How do I upgrade my teams levels? I'm not entirely sure on what's causing it to level up.
I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade my support unit so I can get bigger fultons.

My big thing is when you travel 2000m to your location and you just happen to be on the wrong side of the base for what you want to do. If there's no mountains you're forced to trek another 1000m to go around the other side or try anyways with less than desirable circumstances.

I'm kind of at odds with the day/night cycle too. Most missions there's just no way in hell I'm trying them during the day. Why would I? In other words what's the point.

I have played almost all missions during the day. I like being able to see clearly and I like colors, so I feel like I am missing out on the look of the areas if I play at night.

Lmao, I had a tank the other day that ran over a sheep, drove on two wheels for a few seconds and drove off like nothing happened.

Also last night I had spent a few minutes on the binos to do a perfect stealth run in the mission on the airfield in Africa. All was good until an enemy chopper randomly crash into the Airfield tower, which took out two Walker Gears and 3 men all while I was fultoning the target, yep the base went on alert and I got an A Rank. :(

Mission 18
was really fucking good. I went lethal towards the end with Quiet dropping them like flies. Felt absolutely heroic.

Seeing the cutscene with the kids, these trailers were so misleading.

Yeah this was the best mission yet imo.

I went to town with everything I got including support bombardment and still got an A (probably not an S because of time and missing 2 side objectives). The final part was pretty good, and I was glad I had Quiet with me.

You just put more people on that team. The higher ranks you add to your support team the quicker it'll level up

This save system is absolute garbage.

Went through the tutorial, expored mother base, fell off some stairs and died, had to do the totorial again.

In a mission, about 20 minutes of flawless stealth, on the way out jammed between some architecture and died, start from the beginning.

Garbage. Any word on a patch?

Patch? It's not broken. It works as intended.

After 20 minutes of stealth you didn't accomplish anything so why would it checkpoint?

That's awesome. Maybe I need to work up the courage lol. That one base early on that's cut into the hillside with the 3 satellite dishes, I can't tackle it during the day or at least I need to REALLY figure out how.

This was an unexpected place to find out that the guy from Ultravox has really good solo material.

I did though. I got to the mission objective (blow up some stuff) and on the way out got glitched into some random shit in the landscape. A checkpoint upon completing the objective, especially when it sends the base after you, would make perfect sense.

I've shared this tip not too long ago, but just to refresh for some people:

You can go into options after completing a side op or mission and select "go back to ACC", you'll return to your chopper menu for free. You lose no GMP by having to call in your chopper and you don't have to wait for it to arrive.

What else was he gonna say, "I got drunk and accidentally ran over my buddy"?
Nah, he had to make it believable.

I wish I knew this earlier :/

I found playing it like it was a Splinter Cell game (super serious stealth) increased my enjoyment. It's about as different from past MGS games as any stealth game could be from any other.

Nice, Thanks for this man.

I'm about 7 missions in, and while the game is obviously fantastic from a gameplay pov, I can't help feeling like this is going to be this gens MGS4, meaning the fanbase's opinion on the game will likely shift after the hype dies down. As mentioned before, the "open world" being empty and kind of a drag to navigate is a huge issue, and it's definitely more PW than classic MGS. The lack of story or real context for your missions also makes the entire game feel completely disjointed, which is also not helped by the weird choice to constantly have credits rolling.

Still, I'm having a damn good time playing. I'm just glad I came to terms with the fact that classic MGS died after 4, since I probably would have been really disappointed if I was expecting that from MGSV like I know some people were.

How can you check stats of the guys before you fulton them? I probably missed the explanation.
You have to upgrade the Fulton so it analyses the enemy your looking at.

Edit: Reposting for Dwg and others.

To sell weapons etc.

Go to the MB tab on the Idroid and select Resources, navigate to the guns and select the amount you want to sell.
You can also sell vehicles, metal, fuel etc.

"Sans lingua franca" sounds so awkward when inserted between English dialogue spoken in the tone that skull face uses (Not a spoiler it was in the trailer).

Also Donna Burke has an amazing vocal range even get snake eater song was amazing.
