Why the fuck does Miller say:

"You going to extract him?"

After I've fultoned the damn person, lol

He doesnt even say it in a shocked way, it sounds like something he should be saying BEFORE I fulton the soldier.

Big Boss is too quiet in this game. In situations where he'd normally be talking his butt off he's just staring like a fucking idiot. Pretty jarring tbh.

And definitely not liking the lack of codec calls. I just realized how much I truly enjoyed the occasional back n' forth between Snake and his buddies from previous games.

Yeah that always confuses me as well.

This was my impression as well. After the insanity of the prologue he says 1 word which is just repeating what was just said to him and he remains silent nearly through the entire first mission... Like how do you have nothing to say? And then you get a robot arm! Nothing? No comment? Not even a hey whats going on?

I guess after a 9 year coma, he's probably just not really feeling like himself.

Yeah, it's the same quotes he used when you extracted random soldiers in GZ instead of Paz and Chico. Really weird that Kojima didn't think newer, different things should be said for fultons.

The FOX engine is so beautiful. Everything combined it looks so lush in motion and pictures. Especially when you zoom in from a cliff and scan entire horizons just taking in all the little details.

I loved still being impressed by games both visually and in terms of scale. MGSV achieves both.
I think it loses some points on how sparse the surroundings are (only in the first map area so far), but it's still very, very impressive. The whole opening scene, particularly a moment near the end, had my eyes open in pleasure.

Mother Base looks really good too. It feels like an extension of the best parts of MGS2, with everything running at a high framerate and that sharp, metallic look.

Yeah, it's a good looking game.

Did anyone else overhear soldiers talking about a naked woman near the power plant? Does that have any significance?

Yes, but it's not the power plant! It's the ruins south of the power plant! Just make sure you have a sniper rifle that does exactly what you want it to do before you go exploring in that area.

Seriously, you've been in a coma for 9 years, you really don't have any questions? They pretty much just drag him along, "Hey come on man, you've been out for 9 years and that's great and all but let's rebuild Mother Base."

Big Boss: "Ok"

So, I started playing the game yesterday, and I'm loving it! I have my doubts about the plot development/cutscenes, though. I played like 7 or 8 main missions and there were too few cutscenes. In terms of story, not much has been exposed either. Is it going to pick up at some moment?

Also, Where Do The Bees Sleep was awesome. Like, really awesome.

Edit: also, about Quiet. Is she in a specific mission or I'll find her randomly like DD?

I'm confused though, is this the same as the second disc that comes in the collectors edition?

not its not the same. Legacy is just like a thought of previous games.

The CE has spoilers and is all about TPP.

Sorry for the late reply :D

someone already saw this ? When its the best time to watch it? until i finish the game ?

Legacy is fine to play any time. Its like people from the industry and from the games talking about MGS overall. what it has done, what it has been like, and how much they appreciate it.

quick question for those who pre purchased the game on steam, how do u unlock the pre purchase bonus? like venom emblem etc? i restarted the prologue. does that mean i lost the bonuses forever? how does it work?

Big Boss: "Ok"
He does basically comment/imply early on that he's not even sure if what he remembers is true or anything.
Honestly he seems more like a lost individual.

Prologue Spoilers:

He doesn't even acknowledge Ocelot, just silently jumps on the horse.

I have to wonder if it's because of switching to Keifer. They just couldn't get the conversations going between characters for scheduling reasons and made him mute.

Listen to the tapes. They're essentially the same thing as the longer optional codec calls you could place in previous games, but now you can play while listening to them. Big Boss also talks a lot more in them.

Big boss would also be starring like an idiot and talking for other spoiler related reasons.....

So his behavior would seem normal considering end game story content.

Yeah. That's how I read his silence too. The cutscene in the helicopter with Kaz sold me. He was just listening to Kaz rant and rave, without saying anything... When he does, it's a soft, sad, and weary. "..Kaz, what do I do?"

Dude seems like losing Mother Base, the Coma, and the traumatic events at the hospital have left him somewhat of a broken man.

Honestly, after that prologue and the way he's acting/they're treating him, I don't feel like I'm actually playing as Big Boss/Snake. Never really took those wild theories seriously before, but after starting the game I kinda hope they're true.

I get the feeling this would be an absolutely gigantic unmarked spoiler if I could understand what in the world you were writing here..

I would just adore someone who has beaten the game to create a list of mission intros which spoil the game. I still haven't done mission 4, and would love to know ahead of time.
This is a great idea. Definitely avoid looking at mission 6's credits.

Do credits show over the iDroid? Because the initial fly-in/drop is a good time to plan your route of attack or just mess with Mother Base stuff.

Yeah I will try it.

Few more questions:
- Does pup DD hang out somewhere on MB?Ocelot greeted me at MB with him for a second time when returning and told me to visit DD some time but I dunno where he is.
- How do you get to the diamonds on the top levels of the default Command Platform? Do I need to upgrade it first?

Re: BB being quiet,
Pretty early on they mention that the shrapnel has affected his language centers. It also goes along with the theme of language/mother tongues/Quiet and the higher-level plot later on. He wants to talk, but can't. Dude is a warrior, words are not his way

When something comes up during a mission or a peculiar object pops up in BB's view, instead of him asking about it or at least commenting on it, he just gets immediate input from Kaz or Ocelot without input of his own.

So much shit going on around him and he barely has anything to say about it during gameplay and cutscenes when said shit is actually taking place. Listening to tapes after the fact is definitely not the same.

The game is fantastic so far, but that's one thing which felt weird and out of place for me.

The first few audio tapes you get
are him talking to Ocelot about what's been happening for the pas 9 years, the current state of Afghanistan, what Cipher has been doing, the bionic arm, and the man on fire at the hospital.

Listen to the tapes people!

Completed mission 3
1... you son of a bitch Kojima, I honestly thought the game was finished. If it did end there it would have been the worst MGS to date

The music during mission 12(?), when you
rescue Huey
, was the only piece of music that stood out to me. I don't have as many favourite pieces from this soundtrack as I did with prior games.

Wait, really? I totally missed that. How early on?

What start time do you chose for any mission? Why?

I have done 18:00 every time so far.

I've done a solid split between 6:00 and 18:00 it really depends on how far I have to go from the drop zone to the mission objective.

If it's a long trek i start at 6:00 so I can explore, do recon and be there by sundown, but otherwise if it's close by I just start at 18:00.

I keep telling myself "there has to be an ulterior reason for this. This has to be significant. There's got to be a swerve/twist coming and it will all make total sense."

And if the swerve never comes, then oh well. I mentioned in another thread that I've largely made my peace with MGS5 as being Kojima's take on Just Cause and that the "Metal Gear" stuff is window dressing. With that in mind my enjoyment of the game has increased drastically.

Listened to all the tapes so far, I know its there, just saying a few lines in reaction to others would go a long way to making these cutscenes feel less awkward.

But
that falls to pieces when you play cassettes and find Snake talking normally. It's a completely divorced reality from the rest of the game.
Makes no sense at all, but I guess I'm still pretty early on so maybe it becomes better later on.

Yeah that always confuses me as well.

It got me quite a few times before I realized that it's just a straight up miss on the voice acting in this bit. It's supposed to be like "You're going to extract him?!" but it just doesn't come out that way. He doesn't emphasize the "Him" strongly enough, so it just comes out confusing.

Dude seems like losing Mother Base, the Coma, and the traumatic events at the hospital have left him somewhat of a broken man.

Listening to Ishmael in the opening, and listening to Snake in the game, I actually feel like the voice direction in V is much better than people realize, it comes off kind of dry but I really do feel like this is what they've been going for.
I would go into it more but that's spoiler territory.

But to be fair, Kojima's hints were really heavy handed and in your face,
the trailer with the song "Not your kind of people" told us everything we needed to know.
