Just a public service announcement.

You can CQC swipe the feet of your enemies while prone, using either your arms or your legs.

Have fun with that.

This has saved my ass a few times. Some guards react to being held up by trying to CQC Boss so a leg swipe gets them off there feet quickly.

Today's my birthday and after completing a mission the guys at Mother Base threw me a big birthday party. Got a cake and blew out the candles and everything.

This guy really got into the singing.

21121168545_a1cb91684c_b.jpg

Only four candles!

I set up the Birthday to be 3 days after release, to hopefully see something, and this is what I got

Sure, let me blow out this cake while covered in my own? blood.

Even funnier since I just picked up Huey, with a torture cutscene and a recommendation to not let anyone else know he's at MB. Sure, Huey, you can wish me a happy birthday!

So it seems I accidentally stumbled into a mission that I'm not quite supposed to be in.
Mission 11
Quiet
. Anyone have any tips for this?
I don't have a tranq. sniper rifle, and running up to her and shooting 1 dart into her face time after time is not working out
.

My main gripe is that I wish the game was more story-driven like the past games. Not really a fan of the mission structure so far.

Same

so far, I like the game, I'm not loving it. It's obviously pretty good (to me) if I can enjoy it as it is 20 hours in, but overall uh, mgs5 isn't as "wow you need to play this" as the others?
I miss Kojima craziness on a story level more than I missed it on a gameplay level :/

You're supposed to be there, airdrop a tranq gun if you need it.

Good for you but why not put spoiler tag there? Is it that hard to understand that some people dont want to see this first from your post?
This thread is honestly absolutely terrible in terms of spoilers. I've only checked in here a handful of times, and everytime something has been spoiled. Like the guy on the last page spoiling Mission 6 for me by labeling it "Mission 5".

I'm the opposite. The past games really annoyed me by constantly interrupting the great gameplay with codec calls and cutscenes. In this game, the gameplay is even better and makes you feel like a total bad-ass, so there's even less need to have constant cutscenes.
Phantom Pain is much more of a must-play than the past games imo.

This is the tactic I've frequently been using. If I get spotted in close-enough quarters, I'll dive at them and land just in range to sweep them.

How you fight doesn't matter. A choice cutscene after determines the fate of the character. Listen to Ocelot. Miller's emotional. Mid life crisis and all that.

Experiment ;) Think of all the tools you have and don't...box...yourself into a corner.

Once an enemy camp enters a cautionary state, do they ever leave it?

I was fighting a bear and decided to turn my suppressor off to save it for later use, guys nearby in a camp heard my shots. They never never went back to their normal, more relaxed patrols.

Use any sniper - doesn't have to be the tranq one.

I hope for a mod sooner than later that lets me use D-Horse and D-Dog at the same time. It's annoying switching between them. And I really just like cruising along with dd. He's such a cool companion and pretty smart. Well except for the "stay" command, which never seems to work for me. I love "keep em busy". Keep em busy and then run on up and bionic arm knock outs. It's so cool. Best dog since.....Fable 3?

I did that mission 2 times in a row.

You don't HAVE to tranq her. You can try to kill her with bullets and explosions, the game lets you chose a final fate (spared her).

My battle was straight up sniper vs sniper, but I only had the basic beginner version. Just a game of "reveal myself and duck her shot, pop back up and try to hit her."

I ended up climbing a large stone tower and finishing her off from up there. Felt pretty damn epic to me.

2nd time, I used a known gimmick to win, followed up by not sparing her in that last cutscene. This did not override my first choice.

So I just did mission 7, I wanted to
recruit all the commanders so obviously 2 of them died on my back trying to get them out :(

Also, where's the
brig
on mother base?

Does anyone know how to get rid of the dots next to motherbase staff? It's like it's alerting me of new people, but nothing I do gets rid of it. It's pretty annoying.

I came across "the known gimmick" organically and thought I was sooooo clever. Guess I'm not. I'm curious on other ways to accomplish the battle now. Gonna experiment around more when I get so things unlocked.

Sorry if it's been already asked, but does anyone know what this is exactly? Is it like their life bar or something?

Holy shit how is this not explained anywhere in the game? It's absolutely essential.

I've been getting into the helicopter every time I have to relocate and it's a pain in the ass. Now I have to go back and unlock all those cargo platforms...

The game really leaves a lot to the player to discover...which is admirable that it's not a deluge of tutorials etc...but some hints would be nice :p I guess even witht eh MB system I didn't think they'd share something similar in the locales.

So I'm using the riot gun.

The difficulty of this game plummeted from zero to below zero.

Just wait for weapon customisation you make a tranq sniper hell turn all your guns into Tranq. DD sniffs out enemies while you snipe guards to sleep

I just completed mission 7 in the stupidest way
I got discovered at the beginning, killed 1 of the commanders, another said the meeting was canceled. He and 2 other guys got out of their jeep and started running into the desert, I stole it and ran them over. I went back to the main area, interrogated someone for the location of the 3rd. Got it, he and some soldier were hiding behind a box so I rammed them twice, then drove away.
Edit: and I got an A for it, lol

Anyone else use the helicopter support to serve as a distraction? It's deeply satisfying.

Aw man....

Quiet spoilers (I don't think so but safety)
I love giving her a Silenced Tranquilizer Rifle, getting her to fire at will, then just sneaking/running around mopping up the area while she knocks down anyone who gets in the way. So good but pretty OP.

My favorite is when i steal a new cassette.

I just jacked some soldier's bootleg copy of Europe's The Final Countdown.

Too fuckin' funny.

You sonuva....How dare you deprive a soldier the pleasure of the best thing to come out of Europe. It's all they have left to look forward too.

Everytime I hear it I think of Gob.

How do you disarm with mouse and keyboard?

Of course it's a pointless move but it seems like it would be fun to try. I remember doing it in Ground Zeroes once on accident and never figuring out how.

I think that is if you get a ticket from an outpost yu then can use it with a box to travel to that outpost. I'm sure it takes a while and is convoluted as fuck though, so I don't try it.
The "catch" to the box fast travel is that the outpost can't be on alert, so you have to sneak in to use them or murder/tranq everyone.
And there's also the matter of unlocking the delivery points of course.

But it sure as hell beats driving from one side of the map to the other, or wasting GMP by redeploying.

I've read from you guys theres a cut scene at motherbase I dont want to miss?
I've just done episode 5, so if at all possible, could you tell me when I need to make sure I see it without spoiling?

Do whatever the CQC punch is, and hold the aiming button (Right Mouse) while you are doing it.

I don't have it on PC, but that should work. Is CQC the left mouse button?

Punch once and then hold aim.

I wish I could use the mouse wheel to control sneak speed. It bugs me so much.
