When I was still playing the game, I heard rumours about you guys in the spoiler thread discussing something crazy. Like, something that could only be done in videogames and it was the same thing that could get Kojima out of the industry or whatever.

What was that all about?

Possibly the angle that even though the ruse was sorta cheap, it did mean that the player themselves became Snake. They weren't playing a character, they were a clean slate.

It's a stretch but it adds weight to tge idea that the final mirror acene is Kojima talking to the fans.

"You and me are both the boss... Thank you, friend" etc.

The Infamous: Second Son Skulls unit use swords. The ones you fight after the helicopter rusts and crashes.

Hmm right, maybe that's what it was.

I think the chapter being titled Race would make sense if it was supposed to spawn more wars in Africa. Eli, Solids, Big Boss, Gray Fox, Jack, they're all white people involved in wars in Africa, some as child soldiers. If Eli makes a "Kingdom" in Africa, the whole race thing could probably become a big deal in this part of the story.

edit: Why did Huey say that Salenthropolous couldn't be controlled by a human?

edit2: Eli with the sharp metal thing, maybe that was the sword, lol. Makes me think of young Gray Fox, all agile and such.

Just to clarify some things
-The scene with Big Boss on the motorcycle was edited for the trailer
-Eli's first boss fight ends with the chair scene if you CQC his bitch ass
-The child soldiers being trained occurs during gameplay now
-Burning village, the location is still in the game but the scene's been cut
-Camp Omega scene is missing
-Kids on tank scene is missing
-The soldier fight scene is still in the game

How sweet would it have been if we could drive on of these or upgrade D-walker to include it as a function?!

Did he say human? The whole idea was the cockpit being far too small, and the machine itself being barely functional. So Mantis had to puppet it, basically.

Maybe the cutscenes are there, but you have to trigger them under certain circumstances? I got the two soldiers fighting in the rain cutscene.

Yes he said human, which I thought was weird. Mantis didn't control it, Liquid did through Mantis. That's the only explanation I think of for using those words. Not sure I get why it could be piloted manually by a child if it wasn't meant to be controlled by a human. Maybe a monkey? Drebin's monkey?!?

It's been brutal following you on twitter...knowing the disappointment that was coming.

It's so evident when you see the differences in tones between OT and here. Backlash is a comin' yo'

I've seen people say this is the best MGS game to date, though. It will be interesting to see the final opinion when more people finish the game.

The Motorbike scene has changed, I'm not talking about the horn.
The chair scene is contextual then? I CQC'd his ass and didn't get it :(
Whereabouts? Because the burning village, Kaz said its already been burnt down. But I'm thinking a the screaming at the sky scene is in if you are an evil player and have a large horn.
The child soldiers in the cage? They're the ones being trained? They are locked away lmao.
The soldier fight scene is definitely in, I've seen it. It's triggered by having GMP in the red.

Wasn't it supposed to be AI controlled but he couldn't get it working right (because he killed Strangelove, the best AI person in history)?

I have no idea though. It does have a cockpit for children. Maybe he built it specifically for Hal? Maybe Hal isn't a human but a robot/nanomachine/parasite/cyborg ninja? Like in one of my Japanese anime?

How did the Motorbike scene change? Link the original?
Chair scene happens at the end of Eli's fight if you CQC him.

Not sure about the rest.

Well, yeah, presumably it's supposed to be AI controlled. But maybe the child-cockpit thing was a fail-safe thing, if the AI wouldn't control it, his "son" would, and that would put Huey in control of Salehtropolous indirectly, I guess. How did Skull Face expect to control it? Through Mantis? Kind of a weird idea to make it not usable by humans if Skull Face is the one in charge of the whole thing.

edit: So now we have a parallel between Liquid and Jack. Both are blue-eyed blond-haired white kids who led child soldiers in Africa. White Mamba, White Devil. And of course, Gray Fox.

There's so much material to have a game where you have Liquid, Raiden, Gray Fox, Solidus, Big Boss/V, all together in some way. If you're going to make an MGS game that involves child soldiers, there's no better opportunity.

If it wasn't for scumbag Huey, Strangelove would have been alive and the AI that Patriots had wouldn't have been so shit.

Huey was the real demon.

It's a 5 minute M. Night twist that invalidates a lot of the poignancy of the story. A story is connected to the context in which its told, and Big Boss Master Miller's revenge story accompanied by Big Boss Phantom Ganon are events that are only compelling in the fact that they are a chapter in the downfall of a hero and the twist invalidates that.

[...]
That made me laugh a little more than expected lol

Then I went back to feeling empty because of this games story/ending..

..And then back to being incredibly sad because of the hole that Quiet left.. ;_;

Apparently the village can be found in one of the mine disposal side ops.

This scene.

It seems that it isn't an actual cutscene anymore.

It seems that it isn't an actual cutscene anymore.

Event he colour grading of the lighting looks different now and more brown/yellow rather than what you have there or the very first gameplay video.

But in any case, cutscenes make it or don't make it...not really something new in game development.

But seriously guys, real Big Boss is wearing a Diamond Dogs jacket.

If you look closely after he punches the mirror, it shows the reflection of an Outer Heaven emblem on the locker or wall I think where before he does that it was DD.

Wow, some people can't accept that the story just might be pretty bad.

Eh, it's pretty good compared to so many other video games however compared to other MGS games? It's fine, certainly much better than the singing A.I's in Peace Walker and the grind you had to do to unlock the final chapter.

Kaz will call and say it's not enough water.

The weapon is upgradable so who knows.

So did Kaz knew all along about Venom, or was he told at the end ?

The recording makes it seem like Ocelot only told him after all the Skull Face stuff was done, so he wouldn't get angry during the main ops and possibly defect.

Also, what the fuck at the cut mission 51. The end of Eli's story is so fucking abrupt in the game as it is right now.

Really pissed that I've lost Quiet, totally don't feel like getting the platinum anymore. How in the world would I have known to equip the Butterfly emblem to not lose her?

In the guide, it has a picture of that scene in it next to Venoms "demon points" chart. So I'm guessing max demon points unlocks that scene.

Well, to be fair, he was at one point. :P

But yeah, the AI latched onto that face like one of them AI which only see the ghost of the character and think he is there when actually, he is somewhere else.

Hypnotherapy was clearly not programmed into the Patriot AI's database...hell, even acting in any way different must not be programmed in! :P

I wonder if they see movies like Lincoln and go "Daniel Day Lewis has been possessed by Lincoln!"

The patriot AI was developed in the late 70's early 80's of course it's limited. AI technology has only recently began reaching high peaks. Not to mention that Zero doesn't have Strangelove or Huey with him which are two of the best AI developers in the world. (at least as far as MGS goes, which is why they were recruited by Coldman.) The thing that separates the two of them and shows how much Strangelove and Huey parallel... Huey developed the Reptile Pod - Sociopath are often compared to reptiles in mannerisms, and emotional cues. Strangelove developed the Mammal Pod - because she's a really a compassionate, good hearted human being. Foreshadowing that I never actually caught on to, but I do think that Kojima just writes this game as he goes.

Anyways, it's an ancient program that Zero had developed without the help of the two best AI researchers on the planet. It was a rogue AI, and it went Rogue in the most hilarious way. Anyways, enough trying to find solid ground for MGS logic...

Yeah most of the truth records clarify that Ocelot was the one keeping tabs on everything that was really going on, letting Kaz in on the Venom deal specifically in that final conversation.
