Any tips on salanthropous. I keep dying. Ive gotten him down to a tiny bit of health but keep failing. Anything to know to make this fight easier
I really dont know how i feel about the twist. I dont want to say it ruined the game for me, because i was loving it up to this point, but i think it might have.
Skull Face wanted Big Boss dead because he hated him, since Zero used to order him to keep an eye on Snake, protect him and ensure that he would always succeed in his missions.
A fucking terrible excuse to hate a man. But hey, that's Kojima for you.
Sometimes I wonder what it's like inside the mind of Kojima. When he thinks of a pirouetting vampire or an enemy whose powers is BEE CONTROL, is there any part of his mind that says, "hold on, this is really stupid"?
Doubly so when I read about the big "twist" in this game.

Kojima should've been a bro and hidden PT inside the game.Imagine if Konami used MGSV as a vector to delete P.T. from your PS4.
Again, a crossover from the greatest soldier thread, the game essentially ruins any notion that Big Boss was a good guy right? Like he was just creating his country and military force for shits and giggles right? He was still buds with Zero, big misunderstanding. Hell the patriots all wanted the same thing, war economy. Am I missing something?
Twists like the end of this game, however... Like a kick in the balls.

Exactly. I love the gameplay too. But who gives a shit about this boss? Its not even like the man playing him is interesting. If you told me Grey Fox was V id be fine with it, ut this no name create a character is just nothing.I still think the game was phenomenal. For about 61 of the 64 hours I spent with it, I think MGSV is my GOTY and a once in a generation level quality experience. If there are 5 games on PS4/XB1 I enjoy more than MGSV when all is said and done in a few years time then I think we'll have had a great generation.
(3 hours deducted accounts for Episode 16, Metallic Archaea and the final hour or so)
So I won't say ruined. But.. I think the final throws of MGSV are damaging. I think the twist is fucking dumb and restrospectivley im having a really hard time reconciling that what I just played for 64 hours was V and not Big Boss. I'm just really struggling to take that seriously. Like suddenly I don't give two shits about going back to do Side Ops and expand Mother Base knowing that it's all bullshit while the REAL Big Boss is off doing REAL Outer Heaven stuff someplace else off screen.
I don't mind that actually. Ridiculous stuff like that is the reason I became a fan in the first place. I love the superpowered characters, supernatural and science-based.

Is Paz ever really fully explained? Was she a ghost/phantom? If that was true why could Ocelot and Miller see her? on top of that was the retelling of the events of ground zeroes regarding her even true?
or his Kojima just insane and through it in for shits and giggles?

Absolutely, there are enough completely serious stories in the world already, stuff like MGS insanity is great
I clearly have a higher tolerance to silly stuff than you though, since the twist definitely didn't ruin the game for me.

So after 60 years of constant cycles, Solid Snake truly fulfills The Boss' will? You could make a really good story out of the mess.Pretty much.
Big Boss wanted a nation of soldiers, and he wanted perpetual war. The Patriots mutated to a sort of twisted future of Outer Heaven personified.
I just feel bad for Ocelot tbh. All he wanted to do was wash Big Boss down and Quiet got in the way.
#JusticeForOcelot #LetHimWash
Since the real boss created the "real" Outer Heaven and Solid Snake killed the Phantom in Outer Heaven, then we have no idea what accomplishments the real BB did and which were his phantom's.

Not a fan of the plot twist.
Rather than it making the whole story better in retrospect, all it does it make Big Boss seem shitter in comparison to his phantom. While Big Boss is out there smoking cigars and riding on a motorcycle, his phantom is killing Metal Gears and zombie plant people.

Just had the shower scene...jesus christ that was fucking creepy and gross.
:/

Which is entirely the point...

The whole point of 3 was he was just a soldier. It was a set up, hell this game even explicitly tells you that Skullface was watching making sure Naked Snake couldn't fail. Big Boss was a sham.Well, what about all the things he did in MGS3,Peace Walker & GZ?
You find girls creepy and gross?
I'm surprised there's so little outrage over the butchering of Ocelot's character in the game. The Venom/BB discussion is all the rage.
Ocelot fires a total of ONE bullet in the game (as far as i can remember) and that is in a post-main-story cutscene. He literally does NOTHING in the game besides talking. No CQC, no revolver action, not even any fancy shooting of any kind whatsoever.
It's almost as if Kojima just wanted Troy Baker in his game because he's already in every other franchise, his role could have been filled by literally any other character with little to no modifications to the dialogue.
Did you actually watch it?
Its like being in strip club with a group of dudes making creepy remarks like "you're a naughty girl."
I know Kojima has a history of sexualizing female characters but this was taken to a whole other level.

I know this is ridiculous before I ask it, but why the fuck does Skull Face wear that fucking mask?
Is he just a fan of the Lone Ranger?

Just noticed you can play as your custom character after the truth mission.

He doesn't even get off to reloading a gun.
Gray Fox would have worked better in that boring, second-in-command role. Ocelot has a personality that is non-existent in MGSV.
Gotta say I'm surprised Quiet isn't Chico. I bought into it. But with Paz "explained" and Chico completely mission, seems weird.

I think Chico was infected by Skull Face too. Perhaps as a fail safe if the bomb wouldn't succeed. Its not explained at all though. But it is stated that the Helicopter was no place for Chico to die. So he's dead.
Zero was the complete opposite to him, Zero wanted to unify the world under one leadership and with men becoming essentially faceless without any hint of an own identity. Pretty much what he underwent in his youth. So him rebelling against Zero made sense.
As for BB, its a dumb plot device. There was no reason for Skull face to assassinate BB as BB wasn't on Zero's side either.
So why did Skull face attack Mother Base? Maybe because he thought they were a potential threat against his Cipher in the future. Or maybe he was put into this situation as he had captured one of BB's men and Paz whom he needed to obtain Zero's location.
But Skull face's ghost seems to pay respect to BB somehow.
