I'm almost certain it does, I know it affects volunteerism. Since getting my heroism so high most soldiers in the field have at least one stat at A or A+. Had a few multiple A++.

They have got more frequent as I've gained more, you're more than likely right.
edit: Lol just as we were talking I find one.

Wait, the Big Boss in MGS4 is using Solidus' body. How was his mind transferred? And who's mind is it - Naked or Venoms?

Man this introduces so much more into MGS1, 2, and 4.

Then who's the Big Boss at end of MGS4?

dont they say its a combination of solidus and big bosses remains? or something like that naked body you get in act 3 was really solidus's remains and that the patriots had revived BB post MG2 and he had been in a coma or something

I've got 10 soldiers with combat S or above but I still can't get higher than 65% chance on the mission deployment with the battle gear. Luckily, I've got the heroism trophy and even volunteers are getting to be S now.

One thing I have noticed is that you can level up the combat team by using them on an FOB. It's a good risk/reward because if they die, they die.

Then who's the Big Boss at end of MGS4?

BB built using Solidus' body.
Basically the entire reason Venom exists is so that they can have a way to bring BB back in MG2...only to have him burned and then brought back in MGS4 by using Solidus.

Lol

The real BB because the Patriots revived him and concealed his comatose body.

This too.

Dude sure stirs up a lot of shit considering the amount of time he spends in coma over the series.

"A soviet soldier"

Then who's the Big Boss at end of MGS4?

That's BB reconstructed from spare parts from Solidus and Liquid, he was in an artificially induced coma (NANOMACHINES, SON) after being burnt, he didn't die.

When Snake turned off the AI at the end of MGS4, he was released from his 'prison', and found Zero then brought him back with him to Arlington to confront David.

so i guess the LET project worked out in the end after all!

its probably because i replayed through MGS2 th eday before TPP came out but i love how similar the twist in TPP is to MGS2 in terms of the S3 plan. Hell Ocelot even says in that one that anybody can become snake. he knows because hes fucking seen it happen.

By the way, does anyone know where to get an Interpreter Russian and Prator? They are B and C rank and I have left them locked in my Support Unit which is bringing down it's rank.

I just die a little inside everytime someone who's played this game for a few hours praises the story in this game and takes a dump on MGS4. I mean am I imagining things when I say MGS4 had shit story telling but a rather decent plot (for an MGS story afterall) and that was the general consensus ? If so then why do people find it so hard to separate the two?

Did game ever actually justify why Quiet is dressed up like she is, acts in helo like she does? I mean actually managed to justify it and not just go "Parasites!" which is very weak excuse to make character like she is, when it comes to looks and behavior towards Boss.

Edit: Especially when Code Talker has same parasites, but he isn't 90% naked.

I personally loved MGS4. I do not understand the complaints.

Oh shit, listening to the cassette tapes:
Signit = Head of Cipher after Zero = Donald Anderson = Head of DARPA

I can't wait until I start my MGS1 playthrough this week :)

Did I miss the scene where Quiet uses her sniper rifle to light up the cigar of Snake? She is gone now, so I have no idea when that could have happend.

MGS4 has a good plot but a terrible story. Both are terrible in this game.

So what affects the stats of soldiers in the free-roam modes? Is it how far you've progressed in the story or your Heroism stat?

Which boss dies where is something I wish they could wrap up more comprehensively.

Like I feel it fits the series more if its Venom that dies in Zanzibar Land to the flamethrower because:

- Theres the corridor walk trailer where he actually does get set on fire which would seem like an on the nose transition?
- The rumours of Big Boss being a cyborg or Snatcher in 2 could be explained by Venom having his bionic arm out on show.

So maybe the real Big Boss did get exploded at the end of MG1, thats when he got plopped into the Patriot fish tank, and its Venom getting revenge/trying his hand at his own Outer Heaven in MG2?

So did anyone ever find a way to stop Mantis destroying the fulton when you try to use it on the MoF during Mission 20? Seems like a thing you can do.

With the game putting such emphasis on speech, language and audio you'd think they'd address this somewhere.

I was killing dudes left and right and nothing here.

Yeah that was a odd omission. I just told myself when they were making venom listen to all of BBs missions and such. They probably had speeches from BB in there as well. So since he thought that was him, he talked that way when he woke up. It's a stetch, but better than nothing.

What, they don't explain the voice? I figured that would be an important point...

The timeline in the true ending says Solid Snake kills Venom during MG1 (Outer Heaven Uprising), though the Big Boss that was his commander for the mission was the real one.

You get a call from Ocelot after your complete mission 13/14 to visit Quiet in the holding cell. Once you go the the medbay and holding cell, he explains to Snake that there were a couple of guards who got gravely injured by her when they tried to put clothes on her. This is because she breathes through her skin and she also drinks water through her skin. Ocelot even entertains the idea that she obtains energy from the sun, via photosynthesis, just like an old GRU member, eluding to The End from MGS 3.

Does anyone know how to collect parasites? I was getting through those missions asap because I didn't want anyone dying from infection, so I probably missed how to get them

Oh man just finished it. I kinda suspected from the start that it would be like this because you always expect crazy with Kojima but yeah, still nuts. I loved it of course, because why not? It makes me think over the whole series too, never even comprehending that there could be two Big Bosses out there and which one was the one you fought in Metal Gear 1 and 2.

Anyways, if Kojima wasn't fired I guess we could have seen MGS6 with one of the Big Bosses past MGS4 in the timeline, which is crazy.

Even though the story seemed sparse this time I still loved it and I liked the twist. What an absolutely nutso place for Kojima to leave this series.

Edit: Just saw the timeline post credits. Welp. How interesting. I feel happy to see the timeline come full circle at least.

Kinda unrelated to MGSV but i just thought of a plot hole that i never thought before... if FoxDie kills Big Boss at the end of MGS4 then why it doesn't kill Solidus in MGS2?

Tranq the skulls there are three different type from the three different encounters you have. (not including the one where you rescue Kaz, but if you do that makes 4 encounters in total)

I think it was something to do with Naomi's injection in MGS4 which did something and started affecting the Foxhound members once again. Otherwise Ocelot would have died in MGS1 itself. Maybe I am remembering it wrong.

Edit: reading through it again now

Ok so Ocelot had a vaccine, Liquid snake asked for a vaccine from the US government so I can only assume that Solidus had the vaccine too.
Why do they all die in MGS4 then? The mutated foxdie was suppose to affect everyone rather than just Fox members but Drebin injected a new form of virus that took over the old and this new one was suppose to only affect Ocelot, Eva and Big Boss.

We got played like a damn fiddle.

It wasn't even a good twist. Splitting his legend/accomplishments in two. What the shitdick. Last time we ever played as Big Boss was in Ground Zeroes.

Solid Snake didn't come into contact with Solidus too far before he was killed by Raiden. Probably didn't even matter. Hell, the closest he was with Solid was on top of Arsenal. Oh well, even in MGS4 Big Boss got killed by them pretty quick in comparison.

Which is same ability as Code Talker has, but he is fully clothed. No grandpa titties or ass for us to ogle at because apparently he chooses to die instead of doing photosynthesis stuff. That is why "justification" for Quiets appearance flies right out of the fucking window moment we learn more about Code Talker, making her basically just overly sexualized character for player to ogle at and drool over and nothing else. If into that kind thing.

Quiet's situation is slightly different, she doesn't have normal skin because it was burned off. She requires the parasites to be nourished to stay alive. She's different from Code Talker and the Skulls in that respect.

Just to get this straight as my head is kinda fucked right now lol, Eli was Liquid yes?

Yes

Code Talker tells us that he doesn't eat because parasites keep him alive through photosynthesis. Same as Quiet, parasites keep her alive and she doesn't need food etc. Quiet needs to be basically naked so photosynthesis can happen in amounts so she doesn't die. So I'm supposed to think/believe that e.g. skin of Talker amplifies effectiveness of photosynthesis tenfold hence he can actually wear clothes where burned skin of Quiet, repaired by parasites, has lost amplifying effect? Talk about reaching for justification.

Is it safe to assume that the reason Volgin kept hesitating with attacking Ahab is because he was second guessing whether that really was Big Boss?

Yeah, the DNA test didn't work because you're not the real BB that he was cloned from.

Still gutted we didn't get a proper Liquid FATTTHHEEERRRR though.

Well does it says that parasites eventually becomes the skin anyway?
Why else would code talker be able to use photosynthesis and water and do that black tattoo thing around the eye like Quiet?

Man I'm so happy the franchise went out this way. Fucking crazy, exactly how this nonsense anime should end. Better than MGS4 easily.
