I suppose it has been retconned it could be anything. We'll never know unless Kojima releases a full timeline.

If BB was an AI in MG1 I'll be a bit annoyed. I could take that it was BB going against Venom, but I suppose being a patriots pawn in MG makes sense, don't like it. I liked the simple BB was in foxhound who were ordered to take out Outer Heaven so BB sent the soldier he knew and a rookie he thought he could beat.

Never made sense he'd send his own fricking clone. Can't take MSX MG games too literally. Plus, how awkward would it be for Miller and the real BB to be at Foxhound? Miller just said he'll send BB to hell, he told that to Ocelot. That would imply the real BB is never close to Miller again really.

Big Boss personally trained Snake and gave him his codename tho.

Maybe Miller is a Master of Disguise :p Seriously who knows.

Well you would assume one would know the capabilities of ones own clone. BB thought he'd be able to take Snake, but Snake doesn't play by the cycles that plague the MGS world since The Boss' death. Everything until the end of MGS is a non stop cycle but Snake is the one that bucks the trend and stops them. That's how I always took it.

But yeah fuck knows what the canon is now with the MSX games.

Still playing the game, just wanted to ask a question about Paz on the medical platform. I've noticed an increasing amount of stuck white pixels when visiting her and a little while after leaving. Does something interesting come of this?

Did you play mission 45? That goes into some more detail with the english strain plot.
The cut mission 51 as well I think.

Do you use a Butterfly emblem or don't you have max level for Quiet's bond?

Ah! I AM using the butterfly emblem! Good to know. If I change that I am guessing I can get the mission to pop! Thanks!

Why? This game seems like it's got an ultra meta message of anyone (aka the player) becoming Big Boss/Snake. This game is a Big Boss Simulation. Way more so than any other MGS before it. It also makes a statement about how much we are tied to our phones through the iDroid. I realized that after browsing Amazon (Mother Base), then Wikipedia (the encyclopedia), then Uber (helicopter), vaping for a couple of hours (Phantom cigar), then putting on my headphones and taking a guard post to White Horse.

"Meta" does not automatically make it "good". And that twist in particular sucked monkey balls.

Man, I sort of felt sorry for Huey when I learned his eventual fate, but after this game all I can say is that the asshole deserved to get cucked by his own son.

Kinda unrelated to MGSV but i just thought of a plot hole that i never thought before... if FoxDie kills Big Boss at the end of MGS4 then why it doesn't kill Solidus in MGS2?

Because the strain of FOXDIE that was programmed to kill the original members of The Patriots was injected to Solid Snake by Drebin in MGS4.

I saw this:

Play as big boss or some nerd with a ponytail? Choice is already made

I couldn't even finish witcher 3 but I can recommend mgsv

Posted in the Witcher 3 vs MGSV topic. Made me laugh :lol

So I am nowhere near the end so my question may sound dumb, but could VS pretend to be BB and rejoins FOXHOUND, not the actual BB? Rejoins in order to protect Outer Heaven?

Huey is so comically evil in this game, it's so bad. Skullface feels like a shitty Captain Planet villain too.

The writing is just piss poor all-round. Not a single bit of redeeming quality, especially compared to prior games. I'd rank it even lower than MGS4 and Peace Walker.

What's the deal with Huey? Is it clarified whether he actually was tricked with the insepection, which seems ridiculous given he's supposed to be a goddang genius, or is it just more of him being an asshole while hiding behind looking exactly like his lovable animu son?

He claims everything is an accident even when it isn't, so

A little hypnosis and you can make Ocelot believe he's Liquid and fool a bunch of AI too. This series is INCREDIBLY stupid and has been since the first MGS. I still like it though.
.

Not even remotely the same. The level of "bullshit hypnosis" in both instances is very different.

Yes, Ocelot believed he was Liquid, but we are talking about a man who was originally a master of CQC and had a great physical prowess.

The Medic became as good as Big Boss in 10 fucking days.

Remember how the real Big Boss trained with The Boss for 10 years in order to become the soldier he was? Well fuck that. 10 days with Ocelot gets you on the same level!

You can believe that the Liquid Ocelot shenanigans were bad, But you cannot believe the twist in MGSV is remotely the same. It's way, way worse.

He is just a huge asshole. Seriously.

Just seems like a very pointless discussion trying to argue and make this a race to the bottom as to which twist is worse when in the end they're all bad.

I'll just say this: this is a series full of so much BS and unbelievable things, a MSF medic getting Big Boss level skills very fast doesn't bother me at all.

no that's the real Big Boss, that's why he sends Venom the tape with the briefing he just had with Solid Snake about sending him to Outer Heaven.

When your DD fight with one another (if you get that sequence), at the end of the sequence V tells them their CQC is off, he says to meet them and he'll give them a CQC sparring lesson they'll never forget. Neither did V when BB gave him one.

Medic was BB's top soldier. And he's good at CQC. Done.

Much less dumb than stupid hypnotism.

He's an asshole who's blind to how much of an asshole he is.

So the worst brand of it.

The medic transcended his own genes to become a Big Boss equivalent far before Solid Snake done so with his recessive genes.

The medic is the true franchise hero.

It's funny how in MGS2 we felt bad for Hal's dad.

Now that I think about how he died and what Hal did to the him by fucking his wife, I can only sit back in my chair and laugh.

So if the tape Venom gets from BB is regarding Operation Intrude, why does he still look the same age as he did in 1984?

Uhh...

Parasites?

Also I guess it's important to remember that Venom wasn't as old as Big Boss, so he's not going to age all that much. Also I assume that he was probably getting some touch up jobs here and there... and maybe some botox.

How so?

Considering he has lied about everything and openly said he hates all of us, I think it's reasonable to assume that he bailed out of MSF and called in the inspection to topple it and get out scot free.

He probably didn't know it was XOF. But he likely did want to use this inspection to get out of MB. But then since the inspection is a hoax, he ends up with Skull Face who I can imagine is worse than MSF. So he wants to defect.

Skull Face knows MSF won't be gentle to him at this point, so he sort of lets him go.

This game promised so much story wise and delivered so little.

Race? How was this even a theme? Especially in Chapter 2? It's non existent unless by Race he meant language.

"Men become demons"? In what way? I didn't really see any unjustifiable acts. They didn't even kill Huey despite everything they suspected him of.

Even worse is that we comeyely missed out on a large chapter of Big Boss' character development. This game tells us next to nothing about him. The "missing link" will forever be lost.

Liquid - He has so little to say in the game. I was really looking forward to seeing him interact with Big Boss.

Skull Face - He's killed off just as his character is fully introduced.

I can't believe Kojima's pulled the character swap trick again. It wasn't even as clever as he thinks as most of us saw it coming. Why not give the fans what they want and promised instead of a completely unsatisfactory twist?

And hair transplants and dye, of course.

All of those things, but you're so right with the bolded.

Snake did absolutely the moral 'right' thing in every situation he's in. Maybe the only thing would be wounding Skull Face with his gun, but even then he has to be prompted by Kaz. He stops a genocidal maniac, and prevents the world from plummeting into chaos. That's heroic, not 'demon-like'. He kills his own men because they are infected with a disease that can't be allowed to spread. That's a heroic sacrifice, not a 'demonic' move.

He doesn't actively engage in any of the torture. He doesn't kill people in cold blood. His actions aren't getting anyone innocent killed as collateral damage.

I saw Batman become more of a 'demon' in Arkham Knight.

Kojima's too attached to see his precious Biggu Bossu actually do evil shit.

Not Big Boss levels.

If you want to get down to it, you can play as any character and be as effective as Venom.

Looking back, Big Boss in MGS3 wasn't all that amazing. Boss let herself be killed and Kaz is the mastermind behind MSF.

Big Boss simply got lucky he knew Zero and Zero let him in, if it wasn't for that he would be a nobody.

Medic didn't need to be BB level, he just needs to be good enough to fool everyone.

For all we know Venom is still a scrub compared to the real thing.

Snake Eater isn't any less impressive than any of Solid Snake's missions. But Peace Walker was just all-around dumb.
