As I said in another thread, this game had the perfect setup to find an orphaned girl in Afghanistan that interacts with Quiet and DD. It can't be more cheesy than having adorable cutscenes with the sniper and the wolf buddy that turn tge girl into the direction of her future.
No. Only one of them is the real Big Boss, which is the man we met in MG2:SS and the ending of MGS4. The other is "the phantom".
Exactly. This game is just one huge missing opportunity after another.
MGSV-2
Real Big Boss sends young Sniper Wolf on a mission to kill Quiet...
Ha, I always wondered why it wasn't a dog, like, what's the reasoning? A dog could be as aggressive, so why a wolf? But now I see it.
The "real" BB says that together, they are Big Boss, not one or the other. He doesn't mention how V is building up his reputation for nothing. They are both Big Boss together.
To me that would feel like a kick in the balls, to be honest. I don't want the phantom to interfere any further with the canon. It's bad enough that we are fighting a fake at the end of the original game, I would like to stop it there.
I don't know, they kind of made me want to put my fist through a wall.._.
Fine, it blew me away seeing the flashbacks.
No, the one speaking in the tape is the real one. The one listening is known as the phantom. He's a body double made to look like Big Boss.
I guess I'm coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't really give a shit about Big Boss. I mean, MGS3 was great, but Solid Snake is the hero of the Metal Gear series.
Geez are you in denial? BB says that he and V TOGETHER are now Big Boss.
Stop.

Snake is a puppet. Solidus is the hero of the Metal Gear series.

Which again, reinforces the fact that "Big Boss" is an idea, a legend that anyone can strive for.
Who gives a shit about cannon? The creator doesn't, and the proper way to enjoy MG cannon is not to care about cannon.
Chapter 1 has to do with Skull Face who having lost his own sense of culture and 'fatherland', decides to lash out against the world and deprive Zero of the same. He feels that you can't really make the world one in Zero's approach.
Chapter 2 is how Big Boss is in some ways similar to Zero in how both Kaz and him are forcing their own ideals and values onto these children who ultimately reject it. Eli wants to be free to make his own decisions and values and if so, die with them. That's partially why Episode 51 was so vital as it shows how both chapters are about the same thing, loss of cultural identity and forcing that on locals.
Exactly. This game is just one huge missing opportunity after another.
You should have let the scene go on for abit more because BB also said.
"Under certain conditions, someone can be made to play a specific role...Act like someone else."
Solidus wanted to nuke New York
Yep, so whoever goes by the name Big Boss and leads Foxhound later on, could be anyone. Could just be someone given the title.
Snake is a puppet. Solidus is the hero of the Metal Gear series.
Completely wrong.
And by the way. THIS is Big Boss.

Considering that a large part of Solid Snake's backstory is that he was betrayed by the man who taught him and was his own "father" that he had to kill. leading up to meeting that guy decades later to apologize for the actions he personally made, that would be quite the feat if it was just some guy who happened to have "Big Boss: 1964-1975" loaded into his brain Matrix style.
Completely wrong.
And by the way. THIS is Big Boss.

Solidus wanted to nuke New York
Ocelot made the ultimate sacrifice, he is the hero of the Metal Gear series.
Completely wrong.
And by the way. THIS is Big Boss.
btw what was that thread about "Big Boss literally jacked into the matrix"?
I didn't go into it cause I thought the thread title was actually a spoiler
Which part?
It was Big Boss. Now Big Boss is a we.
Agreed. There's too much wrong with the "Truth" to see it as an accurate portrayal of facts. Ishmael with a functioning eye, no beard, ocelot talking to BB at like 6am at dawn when you escape on horse nearer to 4am. There was a picture thing about this but I forget where.
No. Big Boss is one man. There's another that goes by that title, but he's just a body double.

Big Boss is a lie, he never existed. Only Kerotan exists, the true hero of MGS.
Solidus had high and mighty ideals for someone who raised child soldiers.
Solidus didn't want to nuke New York. For starters, the nuke was gonna be detonated in the atmosphere just to disable Manhattan and turn it offline. Secondly, that plan was false anyway. That is what Ames THOUGHT Solidus was gonna do but his plan was simply to get access to GW to find a list of names of the Patriots.
Ocelot wanted to plunge the world into a straight up dark age. Unlike Sunny + Naomi, his plan for destroying the Patriots did not involve keeping the infrastructure of society intact. He wanted a wild west.
Your idea of what Chapter 2 represents might be true. Huey's sub plot certainly fits with forcing your will on children.
Snake is a puppet. Solidus is the hero of the Metal Gear series.
As far as the world is concerned, why does it matter?
Big Boss is a title, it's an abstraction by definition. I thought having the Zero tape where he calls him "Jack" was, in that way, a nice touch.

Continuing from the OT thread, why the hell would Kojima make Quiet permanently gone? Any chance of patching her back in? lol
No. Big Boss is two men. One of them is the original Naked Snake and the other is double Venom Snake, both sharing the glory, the title and the legend.
