It's kinda amazing nobody noticed that scene in the trailers where Big Boss goes into his coma blatantly didn't have any head shrapmetal, both in the trailer in 2014 and in the most recent 2015 trailer at E3.

Honestly as we look into everything, this has some decent Fight Club esq revelations about play on words and blatant foreshadowing that nobody really picked up on till we knew the twist.

People noticed, but generally thought he'd get it at some point afterwards, or that it was obscured due to the shaky camera work.

More like if you complete mission 41 and have completed the completely unknown pre-requisites, in which case she disappears and you've got no chance of getting her back even without doing her final mission.

People were guessing you were playing as a doppleganger as far as when Ground Zeroes was released. The ending cut-scene going to GREAT lengths to obscure the medic's face was a big hint. People noticed that his voice was an altered version of Kiefer's, too.

People noticed this. It might not have been a point consistently brought up, but I remember people pointing it out.

One thing that's funny to think about in retrospect is that Big Boss' phantom smokes a phantom cigar. Though, again, I believe that's something people pointed out as odd a long time ago, that you have Big Boss with his love of real cigars but now this Venom Snake guy is smoking phantom cigars.

I didn't say people didn't guess the twist, I said I'm surprised it wasn't blown wide open with the fact we can literally see Big Boss without shrapmetal in his head in the last E3 trailer.

I dono't remember people pointing it out, but I would have thought that once people noticed it, the gates would have been open and it would be an open secret about the twist.

Anyone know how to get the Fox codename/emblem? I've got the Foxhound codename but not Fox. From what can tell you get Foxhound for perfect stealth but Fox for not getting detected... which to me seem to be the same thing? Would I get Fox if I just kill a guy every mission while being undetected? I just want it for my base emblem.

Also, anyone know if you can get the Outer Heaven logo?

People noticed that too.

The Big Boss' with different eyepatches smoked different cigars (the three-strap The Phantom Pain Big Boss with the phantom cigar). In Peace Walker Big Boss talked about how he would only smoke real ones, leading to people assuming that the dude in The Phantom Pain wasn't Big Boss.

Can someone explain to me Skull Face's plan? Like on a simple day-to-day basis?

So first he raids the hospital to kill Big Boss. But then he just kind of teases him when Metal Gear holds him helpless. Then he has a gun pointed at BB's head but tells Volgin to just burn him instead. So like, does he want him dead or what?

And speaking of, why? Seems like his beef is with Zero. He should really be allies with Big Boss. Or at least an enemy of my enemy type deal. Maybe withhold the whole "I'm going to kill all English speakers" thing and play up the "man Zero really is a dick" angle. Instead I'm getting whiplash trying to figure out if he wants Big Boss dead, as a buddy, or just to kind of hang out and chill for a quick jeep ride.

And what was this deal with Metal Gear? There's some implication that he built the new MG to hold the world hostage. But ten years earlier, America had already successfully built Peace Walker. Even if we accept that the new MG is more advanced, and it really is, we know for certain that at least one super power also has this kind of tech. We can assume the Soviets have something similar, unless they really did just give up after Shagohod. And this is all just a ruse right, since the parasite is the real end game? Again, why?

Guys did big boss or phantom say a single word to skull face throughout ground zero / TPP?

Holy shit what the fuck
They only meet 3 times too.

1) After getting the honey bee.

Venom doesn't say a thing to Skull Face.

2) On their car ride to see Sahelanthropus.

Venom doesn't say a thing to Skull Face.

3) After beating Sahelanthropus.

Venom says

"There were three, Where's the other?"

That's the only thing our main protagonist says to our main villain, only once in the 3 times they meet in this 60+ hours game.

That iDroid-powered lighter is the stupidest fucking thing in the game.

Yeah, I edited my post before I read your reply but good call on the eye patch. Lots of subtle clues in the trailers for those who watched closely.

I guess people thought it was a red herring, who knows. I agree that it's strange it wasn't pointed out more.

I'm not sure, but here's how I understand it.

Skull Face wanted Big Boss dead, so he invaded the hospital. Simultaneously Volgin and Mantis are headed to kill Big Boss, so XOF end up fighting Volgin, leading to Big Boss' escape.

Somehow Skull Face is able to contain and manipulate Mantis and Volgin for his objective.

When Big Boss is captured it's typical villain 'drop him into a pool of sharks instead of kill him' stupidity. Big Boss manages to survive. He doesn't hate Big Boss, but he doesn't want Big Boss interfering with his plans, so he'll try to kill him, but isn't too bothered, or something.

Sahaelanthropus wasn't operational, that's why Huey is so surprised to see it working. Skull Face took a lot of short-cuts, like making its armour from depleted uranium (I think) instead of titanium to cut costs. It's cockpit is too small to house an adult, because it was first designed for AI, but Skull Face decided against that. Really it's just a marketing tool, something to look cool, so that people think Skull Face is the real deal and buy his nukes. It's impressive looking and not much else. It isn't operational unless Mantis is piloting it.

His real play was to get rid of the English language. Without its 'lingua franca', it's primary language, a new order would have to be brought about, and Skull Face and his nukes would do it. Selling nukes at a super low price would saturate the market so that every small militia would own one, creating a sort of global nuclear deterrence. These nukes would be satellite activated (secretly), so Skull Face had ultimate control over how they were used.

So Metal Gear to sell nukes -> remove English to reset the world power balance -> saturate the world with nukes so that no one entity (like Cipher) can control it, with Skull Face himself having the final say as to how the nukes are used, and thus ultimate power.

His plan failed because he relied on Mantis, whom he seems to have forgotten mercilessly killed his soldiers on weeks before.

The silence killed him.

Venom Snake sucks.
It's not like he didn't have a grudge with Skullface too, he got blown up.

Right, make it 4 times, and yes Venom doesn't say damn thing either then.

That mission was crazy, I remember my reaction when I first saw the hallway all covered with blood I was all like "Woah, when did this turn into Resident Evil?"

Was with DD at the time, immedatly fultoned him, things were bound to get ugly.

Yo Quiet almost gets rape, I thought I never enjoy seeing someone stab in the dick

Reminded me of Battle Royale.

My first thought was the Gray Fox hallway in MGS.

Yes, complete "Truth"
Though it doesn't say Outer Heaven. Its just the skull and wings.

Outer Haven logo comes with it

Fulton D Dog is inconsistent. Sometimes he won't fulton anyone, and sometimes he fultons everyone on the battlefield.

I think I'm finally coming to terms with losing Quiet guys

I hope

It helps that you she isn't really useful for S ranks on a lot of missions, mostly just the combat ones. She's great in side ops but you can use stuff like Stealth Camo so she isn't necessary there either.

She's better off, someone might randomly decide to torture her for no reason before doing something really crazy like trying to communicate without talking. Pretty sure sign language existed in 1984.

God damn it. Volgin caused that lightning strike to destroy the stone bridge when Ocelot and Phantom Boss were escaping on their horse.

I keep getting revelations as the twists and turns of this game settle in my mind.

He sure as hell doesn't use that power again.

>Quiet saves BB's life by sacrificing hers

You suck, V

I feel that MGS fans have had this theory for every game since MGS2. A broken clock is right two times a day.

One thing that irks me with Quiet gone is, now that Paz is also gone in my playthrough, MB just got a lot more boring than it already is.

At least her cell was dishing out random tunes, especially ones not in my IDROID yet.

He's a sucker for kids. Not the real Biggy tho

I dunno who got it worse -- the guy who gets stabbed 22 times in the dick (tho he had Quiet sitting on his face
9I1LV7e.gif
), or the dude whom Quiet axe kicked in the balls so hard his groin exploded in blood.

I feel so silly writing this, much less thinking it, but reading the spoiler stopped my progress dead in its tracks. I had an inkling that you might be a body double during the hospital scene, but reading it being confirmed and all the nonsense that comes with it killed my buzz for this game. Now I know MGS4 went off the rails constantly, had nanomachines as the answer to everything, and ended with the wedding of two garbage characters and Big Boss's double fakeout, but I just cant. I cant even think of a reason why I cant, I just went full on basic bitch and cant even describe a reason why I cant describe a reason. I've become the Exo Stranger. Fun game though.

game is pretty fun tho

Maybe I am being dumb, but...

wasn't the Battle Gear supposed to be deployable on combat missions? What does the Battle Gear do? Is that COMPLETELY cut content or is there something you can do with it?

I don't know what that he did.

He sure as hell doesn't use that power again.

True, but I can't think of another explanation. The chances of a lightning bolt striking are unlikely.

There are two cutscenes seen in trailers that I can't place in the actual game. The primary one is the destroyed African village at the beginning of the Nuclear trailer, where Snake falls on his knees and screams. Don't recall seeing that. Did anyone else? The second is at the end of the Not Your Kind of People trailer, where Phantom Boss is getting on a Triumph motorcycle, which obviously never happened, so I guess that's a bit of deception on Kojima's part.

You'll come back cuz the game is fun as hell.

But yeaaaa.

The twist would've been better if it had anything to do with what transpires during the game. It's awfully executed and placed. Completely disconnected from the plot of the game.

you can send it on Combat Operations, pretty sure it was cut because it made things too unbalanced or something

...aaaand all that GMP spent on her

You can deploy it on "deployments" but it seems you can't actually use it. One of the many "fuck you's" this game has.

No, people picked up on it. If anything, Kojima spoiled the SHIT out of it in the trailers. People called it from at least the first major trailer for the game as MGS V. Especially with Ishmael having Kiefer's voice. If that wasn't enough, the create your avatar stuff at the beginning was also a dead giveaway. I will give the game something, it lulled me into a sense of scurity of maybe I was wrong and this really WAS BB. I still love the final scene in Outer Heaven though.
