That cut scene where Snake falls to his knees in Africa? I've figured it out. It's still there. It's us talking about the game post release. Meta commentary strikes again

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It feel the opposite, I was quickly bored by the intro that constantly robbed me of my power and control, but I can have fun for hours just doing side missions. Getting familiar with the terrain and having to rethink my approaches constantly due the reaction system and different situations in known areas.I am sure a part of the missing missions were "ller"-missions like some of the ones we have in the game. That kinda drives the story forth, but only in tiny steps, however the other part are important. There were clearly chunks of story and development missing.

I agree that the intro was a bad example. It was very on rails and was pretty long. And yeah the gameplay is really great and feels very robust and polished but I it starts to feel very repetitive when every mission is "Get the guy from the village". That's a good point about how the missions drive the story forward in tiny steps. It feels like the whole story was taken in baby steps and all the parts (except for a few) that were supposed to be big, emotional story moments were just on cassette tapes that feel very lifeless and anti-climatic.

.

Being guided does not mean doing it like intro.
It means missions such as mission 30, or the honey bee or Huey's mission where the game funnels you into a location from one direction and you have to make your way through. The most fun missions from the game as there is a sense of discovery (like woah suddenly this big cool ruin is in front of me, I now have to figure out my way in, or wooo they are all ready for me and I need to sneak in) and progression because of things ramping up at every corner.

This sounds a lot like what I was trying to say. When I first walked into that valley with the ruins and cave entrance in the wall it felt so mysterious. I felt like I was watching an Indiana Jones movie or something. There are so many missions in this game where I know exactly what to expect. There's not a lot of feeling like you don't know what's about to happen next. I felt it when trying to take quiet through the sandstorm. I just had this huge power trip while blowing up tanks and a helicopter with a rocket launcher while quiet sniped off soldiers before they could get to me. And then every thing got really quiet (no pun). I had no weapons or items and I was defenseless while carrying quiet. I had to check my iDroid to make sure I was avoiding the enemies. I had no idea where I was going and I didn't know what was going to happen next.

Perfect. I believe you're a child.

It'd be nice to get Big Boss DLC in this where he hooks up with G. Fox and rescues young Sniper Wolf.

Those are the sort of scenes I thought we might get. But nope. We didn't even get resolution to Liquid's story or Mantis's story (since they're in Mission 51, which we will never fucking get). WTF.

Terrible? More like terribly AWESOME!

I fuckinng loved skullfaces VO. It was the most metal geary sounding voice yet. So over the top and hammy. Whooooooooo?!

Yeah, loved Skull Face. I was glad Snake didn't respond to him in the Jeep ride so I could just listen to him talk... Until the end of his speech and then he didn't respond even at that point.

Okay. I believe you're unable to handle people criticizing video games you like without insulting them.

Mine seems much more believable.

I actually thought everything was good. Not perfect due to cut content and the mission structure being wonky compared to Peace Walker....honestly If MGSV had its mission structure better I think a lot less people would be pissed off by the plot or underwhelmed. Everything else besides that was fine and well done imo.

Oh, I agree that some aspects could've beend handled better, even outside the story. Since we had mandatory side-ops anyways, some of the main missions could've been just those. I think there should've been an better disc one villain. The first part was entirely driven by the "mystery" of Skullface that everybody already knew. They should've made the first part about the ex-MSF soldier that wanted revenge and was conducting an operation that Snake had to stop in the first main missions or something. Or make Skullface a proper Disc One villain and have him interact with Snake during the missions. Other than being super "mysterious" in Where Do Bees Sleep.

VS didn't give a single fuck. He was there just to put a bullet in his ass, shame about Miller being all like "lets listen what he has to say first!"

I really love Skull Face's design, and I love all the flamboyant touches they add to his movements. He reminds me a lot of Volgin, who I always felt was the best villain.

It's a shame he's so criminally under serviced here.

I can't remember, does either BB or VS say "Kept you waiting, huh?"

I know BB says it in GZ, but what about TPP?

When you rescue Miller he keeps saying how he waited for 9 years to hear those words again "Kept you waiting, huh?" then he says please say it again but VS clearly doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

BB says it at the very beginning of GZ haha.

You know, when you compare his silence to the limb shooting he does later, it can be interpreted as him being too pissed off to talk to him. Silent rage.

His response was to maim him and leave him for dead. No words needed.

I'm not trying to be an apologist for that incredibly awkward silence, but there's something to it if you want to look for it

Despite all the crazy and ending - the game is still the most fun game to play this year. So not entirely a dissapointment.

Its just a shame that the story has some neat ideas but told in a very dry fashion and has terrible pacing.
I guess, I've had more fun with other games. Especially Bloodborne. This game does nothing new or interesting , the story is far from the "standard" I expect from MGS, and it just feels like something is missing. Big time.

It has its moments but overall in incredibly disappointed with how this all turned out.

VS will say it with a button prompt, actually. I think it's an easter egg, more than anything.

"Yeah he took my arm and leg, but hey, let's listen to everything he has to say. Maybe a nice romantic Jeep through the mountains will be good for you both"

I was really hoping he'd remove the mask at some point and just have this dramatic reveal to Snake in the Jeep. "You see Snake, it's actually me, Skull Face from Camp Omega". That would have shocked Snake into silence for the rest of the Jeep for some wonderful context of his silence.

I think it's one of the active decoy phrases too. At least I saw it in a video, I only used once for " you're pretty good"
