Just finished chapter 1 and i'm confused:

- how did Kaz lose his sight? Especially in the cutscene where he talks to the staff of mother base?

It's weird how Eli played everyone like a fiddle:
- mentally piloting the metal gear thru Psycho Mantis
- the child soldiers and the chorine scene (what was eli doing?)

I still don't understand Kaz's sight thing. It seems like he lost one eye, and he doesn't seem convincingly blind at any point in the story.

What was the title of Chapter 1? Just beat Mission 31 and it said the title of Chapter 2 is RACE.

Revenge.

I think I am going to do the Eli Mission at night to get a cheap S-Rank.

Edit: I don't think there will be any story DLC for MGS V. They will earn the money through more microtransactions in MGO.

It'll be outsourced to...

*end of game phone call*

Moby Dick Studios.

I hate how wasted the Moby Dick references were. Kojima just grabbed a few names from the book, shoved in a giant flying fire whale and that was it. Like, you'd expect him to play more off the themes of the book than he did seeing all that stuff with Moby Dick Studios and Ahab and Ishmael and Pequod and how they take a whaling ship to get away from the opening.

Portable Ops promised this, Peace Walker promised us this, I knew I was fooling myself thinking that this game wouldn't be just another proto-Outer Heaven story.

At this point though we understand why he wanted to build Outer Heaven. The only other thing we could get is the actual building of it but then another made up conflict would be needed to have a story for a game. I think the only real missing story at this point is what Ocelot and Liquid were doing between V and MGS1.

I'd take a Fox Engine remake of MG1, MG2 or MGS1 at this point though. And if like mission 51 as a single mission DLC or a ground zeroes esque thing.

Yeah, he's even able to point out the kids necklace on the ground, no problem. There is absolutely no way his vision is messed up.

The prologue feels like it was conceived of seperately to the rest of the game.

I can't wait until MGS6 or some DLC is announced. There's going to be some mad theories around Kojima still working on it and I can't wait to read them.
Depending on the DLC I really wouldn't care.

Heck i'd take Konami reusing assets if they tossed Rex and Ray in as Extra Op fights, and pay good money for that as well.
Liquid's Hind D, same as PS1 besides model i'd even be okay with.

Totally, but Konami will make more no matter the quality and some people will believe it's all a ruse. I'm sure Hayters voice will be in that one somewhere too.

I'm unashamed to admit that using Hayter could lure me back. He is Snake and Big Boss in my mind.

I think Konami has a 50/50 shot of making a better metal gear game than V. That would be such a strange reality if they did.

Wow nothing but straight hate for the ending. I didn't think it was that bad. Then again I'm not really a hardcore fan. I thought it was a cool twist.

Although I was assuming the story would at least catch up with Eli and his gang of little shits.

Anyone know what Snake says when you fire the Hand of Jehuty? Also, why do I have an IV in my arm all of a sudden?

Not the case if you're making a distinction between actual plot points versus execution. It doesn't take much to be disappointed by what was very explicitly on the cutting room floor.

Unless they keep the gameplay the same, I don't think they can for me. As long as that core team stays with Konami and most of this amazing game is kept, they could be onto a winner. The rest of the game around it might actually improve and make it even better in that situation.

Step one: hire a GOOD writer.

One theme in Moby Dick is loss of identity. Think of how through the game the character "medic" suffers loss of identity, which is one theme in Moby Dick as Ishmael. As the book continues Ishmael's identity fades as he becomes one with the crew.

Just the same as his half-assed Lord of the Flies references.

Yeah, I'm more pissed that the real ending in mission 51 was cut. It seems like it could have been a great location and I loved the first Metal Gear S fight. Plus as is it leaves Eli's story hanging.

If Konami decide to make a Metal Gear Solid game they'll probably want to have it come out within 5 years. And I doubt they'd scrap the gameplay improvements MGSV made.

I'd expect a MGSV.5 sooner rather than later. I don't see Konami trying to revolutionize MGS, but Assassin Creed it.

So what is this I keep hearing about a cut final boss that was supposed to be an awesome boss fight?

Any details?

Didn't they start hiring for a new Metal Gear game ? I think we could see the next Metal Gear in 2017, early 2018.

They did. And if they fired Kojima just to take 5 years to make the next MGS I'd be surprised.

They have the engine. They have the formula. Now all they have to do is made a B-Team MGSV, like Assassin's Creed has every other year.

Yes. Ride it to hell.

I just find them unremarkable story wise. I love their games and playing in that sandbox, but I've finished GTA V twice over different formats and I couldn't tell you what happened, bar Trevor kidnapping some mobsters bird because that was pretty funny.

Yeah, I'm guessing the same. I hope we do because I'd love to see if it was Kojima with the gameplay attention to detail that add in the more ridiculous things like the water pistol on the electronics and horse shit or if someone else had their eye on that stuff. Hope it's the latter.

Revenge.

Not only that, during the one scene where Quiet is recruited into Diamond Dogs. How was Miller able to get his hands on a rifle if he was blind. Another example, would be when he disarms the child soldiers.

I just think they're nailing the writing itself, not always the story. Just like Naughty Dog, story is good, but the dialogues are phenomenal.

OK, that I agree with. In the moment of playing the game, I do enjoy the characters, just the overarching plot is just kind of there.

I can agree with you there. Kinda like the Last of Us, where is story is pretty simple but the writing was top notch. I would be happy with a simple Big Boss story with fantastic writing and great gameplay.

When Skullface says that the third English strain is "close to you" is he actually referring to Quiet, or is he referring to Mantis/Eli?

Because it seems like there were actually 4 english strains, and Skullface doesn't seem too concerned that one of them is missing.

The twist wasn't bad it was just poorly executed and the fact that certain plot points weren't resolved. Eli vanishes with the MG..okay? Quiet disappears just cause? At least sacrifice her saving the boss.. Also she had the english strain and she spoke so how come venom wasn't infected? I mean Jesus. I feel like kojima has the right ideas but someone needs to organize them and have the balls to say "No" to him.

Also chapter 2 had nothing do with "race" and I was waiting to see the taboo elements which I found nothing shocking in the game. Honestly the game was rushed and things were cut, on one hand I understand konami point of view.. On the other hand I see Kojima's as well but you had years to prep this up but I guess the engine took most of the time.

Edit: Miller isn't blind his eyes are just colored weird.

Assassins Creed has an A team?

lol

Perhaps I should say 'Original' and 'Not Original' teams. I think they even have a third team, too. 'Ubisoft Montreal' being that original team, then they have Québec, Bucharest, Sofia. Tons of teams just to keep the Assassin's Creed factory running smoothly.

So when does Venom Snake find out he's the fantom? Because the final mission has you looking at the postcard from the real Big Boss, something he meant for you to read as soon as you woke up.

Oh, I've seen the Mission 51 Phantom footage - I have the CE.

I thought it was something else judging by the way it was described.

So what all was cut from this game? It seems like the story missions such as "A Quiet Exit" and all the others that were relegated to the Side Ops Category and renamed were initially Main Ops and would have fit into the 61 main ops/5 chapter format of the leaked list.

Why the change and the moving around of the main story missions?

Why cut Mission 51? It wasn't offensive in any way - just like the cut scene of the soldier training the kids - it is now a real-time scene when you do one of the Total Stealth end-game missions. You can see 5 or so children being instructed on how to use their guns by a soldier.

I wonder if any of this cut content will be DLC or Game Of The Year Edition additions?

No there's only 3, mantis just saves one of 2 venom was about to destroy.

Prevailing theory seems to be he doesn't find out until Solid Snake is knocking on the door to Outer Heaven.

I like the idea I saw posted somewhere, I think it was the Giant Bomb forums, that the Big Boss that's helping you in MG1 is the actual Big Boss, but the Big Boss that calls you from a different frequency later in the game trying to mess with you is Venom being angry that he found out he was the phony.

Edit: ^ okay that makes more sense. I guess I didn't watch that scene close enough.

So noone knows for sure now, the leaked list of missions was allegedly made up, but it matches up weirdly.

The PC game files have a splash screen for Chapter 3 in there.
