Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

I'm sure this has been asked before..

I only played vanilla, though I did purchase the digital deluxe edition.

I got burnt out even though I hardly touched the grind.

Is it worth my while to buy taken king?
How much of the vanilla game is revamped?

Man....the dreadnaught has so many little secrets...

sitting in that worm pit and then getting that scent on you, just to have to book it in under a minute across the room, and then jump and scan those invisible planks, to get to the chest guarded by the blind thrall........cool....became a lot more easier when other people in the area decided to help and each stand on a plank for me so i could see it better

It's not like they rewrote the story. It's the same basic experience with new voice work. If you were burned out on it last time, it probably won't do much for you this time. The expansion storylines were both decent to OK if you haven't played them.

So I got Destiny at launch and never made it through the campaign. I have TTK and would like to start playing more. At this point do I level up playing through the campaign (keep in mind the campaign is boring as crap to me) or do I do something else? How do I "get current" these days?

You can skip the old campaign if you don't want to finish it. I never banged it out in vanilla either despite being level 31. In fact I never unlocked mars so I only patrolled there with other people.

TTK will unlock all previously unbeaten content.

After the first TTK mission on Mars, I get two options : Go to the cosmodrome for Cayde, or continue on Mars for a second mission.

I'm playing with my girlfriend, and for some reason the second mission on Mars is locked for her. We did the first mission together, and she can play Cayde's mission just fine.

Any idea why that is ?

She's probably a different class. The mars mission might be the one to unlock your third subclass.

If she was leading the party she might have her own second mission.

Oh right, I totally forgot about the new subclasses. Thanks.

I wish the game was a bit more clear about the new stuff available. Or just clear, period. Practically nothing is explained.

Some of these post-Regicide missionss are just utter shit. The one in the Vault of Glass and the one in the Citadel were patently awful. Fuck off with this "We're going to spawn endless enemies all around you until you have to hide in a cave or some magical cover spot" nonsense.

Still looking for people who want to do these kill taken on Earth quests.

No one is ever in the rocket yard and o can't quite solo it fast enough

So does the Nightfall not give rewards anymore?

I just got two blue drops and 10 strange coins. No Legendary Marks even!

It does, it's just RNG for instance in my fireteam last night my friend and I got strange coins. our third friend in the fireteam got an exotic autorifle.

That's freakin ridiculous

Do I get nightfall rewards only once a week per account? Or can I do it two more times in hopes of getting something?

So what is the point in the nightfall strike now?

I used to get 500 faction rep and a 20% increase to all rep earned throughout the week.

I didn't get any rep (from what I saw) and I don't think I'm getting increased rep from bounties and such.

And I used to be able to do it three times a week to get a chance at "Nigthfall" level rewards.
*** never got 10 strange coins from one before. Today was the first ***

As to your last point, consider yourself lucky my friend.

I've gotten 6 before.

Once I just got ass shards. Ass shards.

Yeah I've gotten coins before as well. Was trying to be sarcastically happy that I got 10 and not 9.
The strike is much more challenging than a weekly strike that would give us 9 coins.

A year playing Destiny on and off, and i still get lost in the Cosmodrome...

I really wish i could pull up a map at any time... even the mission select one... something to give me a hint how to find the areas i need for these quests...

I did the daily with my friend... I went to the tower and I apparently I didn't pick up an engram... It was legendary but it wasn't called legendary. Rather it was called Sublime Engram. And then I got a Year 2 Exotic Helm. Yay baby. :D

So I beat the main story for the Taken King and I'm level 40 with a 205 light level. I have a friend who wants run Vault of Glass before he gets into the later stuff. What kind of gear can I expect to be dropping from that? Would it just scale stuff to my level and help me level up my light level?

Also, does it take long to run?

How much should I explore while fighting the Darkness areas? I mean I don't want to miss anything. But I can always come back later to get chests and dead ghosts right? I waste so much time exploring every nook and cranny for no reason.

It'll just drop year 1 gear that will be way below what you have on. It takes about 60-90 minutes with an inexperienced group.

Sorry if this is a dumb question about PS4:

Suppose I want to purchase on a PSN account from other region (EU) where I have the money on wallet. My USA account is where I play/sign in/earn trophies on, but it has no money.

Will I be able to play Destiny on my US account and earn trophies on it, etc, even if Destiny belongs to the EU account? Thanks.

Whelp, I gave in and bought The Taken King Digital CE. Really hoping the game is now as good as they say, since vanilla was pretty boring after I beat it.

Looks like it's going to take a few days to download this 17GB patch thanks to PSN's shitty servers.

Change your DNS settings, this almost doubled my download speeds.

There's pretty much nowhere you can't return to later. All 5 major areas have Patrols (free roaming) that let you traverse them at your own pace. And for areas not reachable in the patrol, you can just re-run the mission that they take place in to access them once more. I've been exploring the new ship and there's tons of little secrets all over the place.

You can, just remember for future DLC you are locked to that region.

If I buy this on disc, will I still have to download any patches or will they install from the disc? I'm currently on a monthly data-capped Internet (don't ask why) so it's a relevant question.

You will need to download an additional 17-18gb, the disc is only the vanilla game.

Guys...the taken king story missions are a lot of fun! Nathan Fillion goes such a long way. Top notch voice acting, music and presentation throughout. The new warlock subclass feels so bad ass! I already said it but I feel like I need to say it again, this soundtrack is incredible. Grab the headphones and enjoy.

Gina Torres, Nathan Fillion and Lance Reddick all together <3

It's definitely fun to see :)

Ok, thanks. This is from Destiny description on PS Store:

"One-time license fee for play on account’s designated primary PS4™ system and other PS4™ systems when signed in with that account."

So I simply keep my EU account as primary on the PS4, buy/download the game, then log out of it, login on the USA account and play online/get trophies. Correct?

How long is TTK's campaign on average? I ONLY have vanilla Destiny, which I played back at launch, and I'm wondering if this is worth getting TTK + expansions.

Jaguars what guy dot gif

That was the best mission in Destiny IMO.

It is long if you do all of the missions after the "end". If you just play to the credits it is maybe 3.5 hours. Destiny is not the type of game that you judge based on how long it takes to play through the missions once.
