I think its safe to say bungie has redeemed itself with this expansion. I knew destiny could become something special and it has. So much content its almost overwhelming. Between the chests on the dreadnaught having multiple objectives to the "taken war" quest chain that mixes in bounties and some story, this is the best destiny they have put out.
Also getting a sword is fucking cool as hell. That is my "oh shit" weapon when i get hit with 2-3 majors at a time. Sword destroys them all. I also use it to revive people in strikes as you can defend yourself while you res. VERY handy. Also its just badass to whip the sword out and clear a room. Cant wait to upgrade it to exotic!
The Echo Chamber strike is awful.

Whaaaaaaat!?
I love the boss fight. Makes the entire thing worth it.
Jesus, is it supposed to take this long?!Well, my friend finally called it quits on the raid. I can't blame him though since its been almost 12 hours since he started. He's disappointed he didn't finish but he beat the second boss at least, which he claims took about 5 hours.
Jesus, is it supposed to take this long?!
No and yes depending on how you look at it. It's early on so people don't have great gear or know the mechanics well. There's also the factor of new subclasses and what optimal specs/builds are in a raid comp. In a week or two people will be wrecking that raid.Jesus, is it supposed to take this long?!
Ahh, I see. I only ran one raid one time last year, so I don't really know the whole process of people figuring it out yet. It took us about 2 hours, and that was because I was underlevelled, so I guess once my regular group figures it out we'll do it in around that time.Well, it's a raid, so it's gonna take time for people to learn the fights. In a week or two, people who clear it this week will be clearing the raid in 2-3 hours.
Which one is that? The dark pit? Shield brothers is the best fight. Just pure fun and hilarity. If you're a titan you can just fly up around the diving brother and he's just flailing his arms, totally pissed but unable to do anything while the team wails on him. Pure comedy.
It really is. I expect a patch tomorrow.Got 20 Year 2 exotics, only about 4 of them duplicates. Cost me around 130 strange coins. I would say I came out ahead. Draksis is Loot Cave 2.0!
It's the ones with the moving walls.
Did anyone beat the raid yet?
We gave up onGorgoroth, loving the raid so far.
Saw someone in the comunity thread saying he had joined a group that beat it 3 tries after he joined
Other than that I dunno, but I think we are 2-3 groups at least that reached Oryx and got tries on him
Oh interesting. Doesn't look like I've played that one yet. It's the ones with the moving walls.
And it's awful
ok, so the raid has been beaten. that didnt take long.
And it's awful
It sounds like world first was a group with King Gothalion, Professor Broman, Teawrex, anda couple other guys from their crew. I think it took them around 8-9 hours. Goth has a twitch recording of the whole thing.
It's weird to me that my 170 ATP Icebreaker does more damage to bosses than a brand new 290 ATP exotic sniper rifle that I got today.
Just a regular story boss. 4 shots with Icebreaker killed it. Took 6 with a 290 sniper. It's kinda ridiculous. You'd think a 290 would 1 shot something a 160 needs four shots to kill. Some kind of normalization, I wonder? Or perks?
So considering the three of coins. Can i just use them for strike bosses and get the same drop chances as in the scourge of Winter? Is the cheese just faster or does it result in better droprates?
sounds like a lot of people are burning through content at an alarming rate, I expect an "I'm done with this fucking game" chain gang in about a week's time
Nope. You do not know destiny Gaf. We are addicts.
I beat vanilla Destiny with character A, have the quest markers for Dark Below, House of Wolves, and Taken King. Then I started character B, and can't see seem to get the non TTK quest markers. Anyone know why not? Thanks!

It's a fight where you arbitrarily can't deal damage to the boss for a period of time multiple times throughout the fight because mechanics. There's nothing exciting about it when you compare it to Sunless Cell, Shield Brothers or Fallen S.A.B.E.RIt's poorly designed in that you can skip litterally 95%+ of the enemies if you want.
But the boss itself is pretty good by Destiny standards. The mechanics is much more fun than the bullet sponges from before TTK
Wasn't patched as of 5 minutes ago.Is 3oC scourge of winter method patched?
What's a good way to get coins?
Should you use multiple coins before killing to stack the chance? Or use one coin per boss kill to stack chance?
I can't believe they'd sell absolutely useless gear for 31 strange coins. Fucking hell.
It's not patched and it doesn't sound like they're patching it this weekend. I think doing Strike playlists and deciphering engrams will probably net you the most strange coins and engrams. (since enemies in the strike will drop engrams, the boss drops guaranteed engrams and you have a chance of getting some strange coins as a post-completion reward) Your chances of obtaining Legendary engrams also increase the more successive strikes you do, so you're essentially killing three birds with one stone. (And you'll be earning loads of Cryptarch rep at the same time) If someone knows a better method go ahead and chip in.Is 3oC scourge of winter method patched?

I'm probably also more miffed about it because I play FFXIV as well and one of the end-game dungeons in the expert roulette (that it also biases in favor of the only other one) has the exact same problem except worse by having multiple bosses with mechanics that happen multiple times throughout the fight that render you unable to deal damage to the boss.
I think the expansion is great, and the rest of the strikes are great. In fact, I think everything but the boss fight in this strike is great.
The problem is that it kills the flow of the fight. I outlined exactly why I think it does and it's exactly what I experienced in my first run of the strike. Not the 50th time I ran the strike, anyone would get tired of the same old thing 50+ times. I wasn't helping defend the person doing the mechanics because the amount of adds spawning during the mechanics phase were laughably low and didn't even have any yellows sprinkled in, after we killed the adds we were waiting to go do the thing that let us deal damage to the boss again.Imo, It is the best strike boss battle so far. Really feels like a mini raid boss.
Anyway, people will always complain: when bosses were bullet sponges, ppl wanted mechanics, when there are mechanics its tedius/long/stupid/whatever. To me it seems, some ppl don't really want to play a game, they just want loot and progression handed to them without effort.
This ties nicely into these recent ToC shenanigans. People would rather break the game than play the game. Makes me sad, especially because if I want to stay competitive, I have to do it as well...
Thanks. I hear strike playlists but don't have 240 light yet is the level 20 play list good enough for getting gear? It's not patched and it doesn't sound like they're patching it this weekend. Another thing when deciphering loads of engrams, decipher them one at a time, check the piece you got, if it would raise your light level, equip it, you'll get better stuff out of the rest you decipher. Decipher your rare engrams before your legendary or exotic engrams in case any increase your light level, so that the stats that come out of the legendary and exotics are the best they can be. As I understand it, what comes out is determined when you pick it up but the stats are rolled when you decipher relative to your light level.
For the farm method, pop one three of coins before entering the room with Draksis, get his health low, kill him and yourself with the rocket launcher, respawn, pop coin, kill him and yourself, rinse and repeat. Bring heavy ammo synthesis. I'd say clear out the room of other enemies each time before killing yourself and Draksis, as ammo pickups disappear when you end up back at the checkpoint, and they can drop heavy ammo, this way you don't end up using a heavy ammo synthesis when you didn't need to. I used 25 three of coins today and got 4 exotics, 1 of them being the Warlock gloves Xur was selling this week except higher in all stats, much better use of strange coins than spending it all on the class item he was selling this week and exotic ingrams. The only reason this is a farming method is because of repeatable easy ultra kills. After they inevitably fix it it'll probably still be worth it to buy some three of coins each time Xur visits assuming he sells them everytime and pop them when killing ultras.
