Folks that own both a PS4 and X1, are you able to justify both purchases thus far?

Bonus points if you have a gaming PC too.

I own a PS4 and Wii U. The latter is for those sweet Nintendo games, and the former is my go-to for third party fare for this generation, along with Sony exclusives.

Anyway, a close buddy of mine offered to sell me his Xbox One for the relatively dirt cheap price of 200 bucks. I was initially ready to jump at the deal but after mulling it over some more, I found it very tough to justify the purchase, low price and all. I already have the PlayStation for third parties, and the Xbox just didn't offer enough exclusives to make it worthwhile. I'm positive I would've felt the same way if I had an Xbox One and someone offered to sell me their PS4. I'm certainly still getting one, but after titles like Scalebound and Quantum Break and such are in the wild.

Everyone has a different way, and some don't even care, but when I buy a new platform, I check to see if there's at least six games out right now that I want for it. Six is my magic number. It's an imperfect method but it has worked for me.

So with these two platforms having such a massive overlap in terms of software, I ask owners of both systems - have they been worth it thus far?

Not really. Thought about selling my XB1 a couple of times but I'll wait it out. Don't want to miss out on QB.

Yup.

I mostly play XB1 with my friends for online games and such but the PS4 has had Killzone, Infamous, The Order, Rocket League and some other stuff that has been worth it.

My Xbox gathers dust right now, but it's not it's fault I just prefer to get multi-platform games on PS4. Tomb Raider should alleviate the issue.

Yes and no.

ALL systems have some great exclusives games.

My PS4:
The Last of Us Remastered
Infamous: Second Son
Bloodborne
Until Dawn

My Xbox One:
Sunset Overdrive
RARE Replay
Ori and the Blind Forest
Halo: Master Chief Collection

My Wii U is nothing BUT exclusive great games.

The main problem with Xbox One is that it doesn't have that many games I can't play on my PC as well. Only a few games are "truly" Xbox One exclusive.

I don't own an XB1 yet, but I know my purchase will be justified because there is enough games available now that I want. Also I got to complete my collection, it's the last piece of this current generation of consoles and handhelds.

I have a PC as well and wasn't able to justify having all 3, I ended up selling my XBONE because I have no interest in Halo and don't mind waiting on Tomb Raider.

I enjoyed having both consoles but one was always getting neglected and not played and more often it was the XBONE once I had played through the exclusive games I wanted to begin with.

XBONE is probably a better all in one unit for under the TV as a whole, but some of the UI decisions are truly baffling and infuriating, not that the PS4 is much better.

I find plenty to play on both consoles. I have a core group of friends that have both consoles and we will jump back and forth. We played Rocket League for a few weeks but when Halo 5 comes out, I'm sure all of us will be on that for months. I also have a gaming PC, but generally use it solely for exclusives like Wasteland 2 and Civilization. $200 ain't shit really when games cost $60. Gamefly makes it a lot easier to support every console.

Well I have an X1, PS4, WiiU and a gaming PC. The only console I don't use that much is my WiiU and I kinda regret my purchase. Everything else gets pretty much equal attention. I wouldn't want to miss any PlayStation nor Xbox exclusives anyways.

No. I regret buying the PS4 immensely. All my gaming is done on the XB1. I bought Bloodbourne and LBP on PS4 and barely touched either. PS4 is just not for me, hell I have used my Wii-U more then my PS4.

Yes, of course. I bought both consoles to play games and I have been happy with both Microsoft and Sony games. I have also chosen not to restrict myself to playing multiplats on only one console so I get whichever version works best for me.

The only games I've finished on my Xbox One are Ryse and Sunset Overdrive. And I've owned it since January 2014. Being a PC gamer, I can't justify my Xbox purchase even though I did enjoy those two games quite a bit. My PS4 purchase is definitely more justifiable at this point due to the exclusives. But I guess that's about to change with Halo 5, Tomb Raider, and a bunch of new Xbox games coming next year.

Yup. My Xbox One is mostly for exclusives. Have Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Sunset Overdrive, Halo MCC, about to get Forza 6 and Halo 5. Easily worth it.

Also play my PS4 for everything else since most of my friends play on it (it has its fair share of great exclusives too). Destiny, Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, Bloodborne, Infamous, The Order (yes I enjoyed it), about to get Until Dawn soon, Fallout 4 and Battlefront for it.

Both have been worth it.

*I don't own a gaming PC*

Funny you mention 6 games op lol, Mine is at least 5 heavy hitter exclusives. So far scalebound and sea of thieves has my attention. Three more and I'll begood to go

Not really. My PS4 gets booted up anytime a worthwhile exclusive comes out. The rest of the time I'm on XB1 since that's where my gamer friends are.

I think in one year the climate will change drastically.

Xbox:
Halo 5
Quantum Break
Scalebound

Playstation:
Uncharted
The Last Guardian
Horizon: Zero Dawn

(this is of course if none are delayed past 2016)

PS4: Yup, definitely, 100%.

XB1: Nope. I'd consider getting rid of it but I don't really sell my consoles. Hopefully some exclusive games actually worth playing will come out in the next year, because it makes no sense to get multiplats on XB1.

Never even plugged the Xbone in lol. But I didn't really buy it, I just took it as payment for some work I did for a friend.

I also have a WiiU and PC I use often.

My personal metric is three games released that I want, and three games coming soon that I want, and both have crossed that metric for me a few times over.

Happy with all my consoles at the mo'.

Not really, no. My ps4 barely gets used, and Sony has yet to put out an exclusive that I care about. I'm eagerly awaiting Uncharted 4 and Street Fighter V, though.

I play my X1 and Wii U WAAAAAAAAY more than the PS4.

My PS4 purchase was easily justified. It was 114 USD new and I needed an Uncharted 4 player for when the game comes out. I have 4 games on it, not a single one truly exclusive, and while I don't regret the purchase, I really am blown away with how baked so much of the system is, and how it clashes with the way I usually do things. As of Vita hack day, it's in the closet. Why have it out if it's gonna collect dust until Uncharted 4 or so, right? It has been replaced with a current gen PlayStation that I can honestly say I like a lot, Vita TV.

I was okay with buying this machine for 200 in my mind before, but after owning one, I would have regretted paying that price for it. To me, with the console at this state, it is not worth me paying more than 100 USD for. I would have so felt like I made a mistake if I paid more than I did for it.

My Xbox One? Worth more than what I paid, easily. Rare Replay has been killer.

My main console is PS4, but I prefer shooters on X1 because of the controller, and I'm still willing to check out Halo games.

So yes, I don't regret owning both. I also play my Wii U (sooo many exclusives) and PC of course. I also have both Vita and 3DS, no regrets there, either. And an iPad...yeah I'm broke.

After Dead Rising 3 PC got announced and looking at the forthcoming releases on XB1, I couldn't justify keeping that, so I sold it. Bought a PS4 and since Bloodborne came out and looking at the forthcoming schedule... much easier to justify the purchase tbh.

Once I get a PS4 in a couple of weeks I'll have everything but a Vita. I'm only getting a PS4 now because there are enough exclusives on it that I want to play ergo justifiable purchase.

Absolutely.

XB1:Dead Rising 3, TitanFall, Forza Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Killer Instinct, Ori, MCC, Gears of War Ultimate and EA Access

PS4:Resogun, Bloodborne, Infamous:SS, Driveclub, Until Dawn, TLoU Remastered, tearaway Unfolded, Soma and PS+ for tons of Indies I would not have normally played (like Grow Home)

use PS4 for most 3rd party games currently

I have a X1 since day one but I bought a PS4 on april because of Bloodborne, which is an amazing game and I don't regret it even if it is colecting dust since then. However, I'm still happy with my PS4. I'm going to buy the new Saint Seiya game because it will have mexican dub which is awesome.
The only thing that justify my WiiU purchase in january is that my brother uses it.

Sort of. The PS4 is more of single player game deal for me, whereas the Xbox One is becoming my online machine; it's what most of my friends have.

Xbox has some exclusives I enjoy, and so does the PS4. If I only had one right now, I'd rather have the Xbox One. There isn't much on the PS4 lineup I'm excited about.

Bonus points if you have a gaming PC too.
The funny thing is that, for me, my gaming PC is the one I can justify the least. I used to be a big PC gamer, but anymore, I just want to sit on my couch and game instead. Spending all day in front of a PC for work makes the idea of coming home and doing the same less appealing as well. My previous PC desperately needed to be replaced, but I didn't need to get something as beefy as what I have now.

I play exclusives on the Xbox One and Wii U, and I pick up multiplatform releases (and exclusives too, obviously) on the PS4.

I've definitely gotten my money's worth. If I were doing it all over again, I might've waited for a price drop on the Wii U first rather than buying in on day one. I don't regret a day one XB1 purchase since I would've skipped the Kinect otherwise, and that would've deprived my wife of a Disney Fantasia obsession she didn't even know she'd have.

PS4: Yes.

XBone: No. I hardly play it and Below isn't even out yet so I have quite a ways to go.

I just got the XBO and I rarely use it. I have H5 ordered from Newegg. I like the Rare games and I feel like going back every now and then, but overall I haven't played a single Triple A title on there yet. I do have KI, but I need to get season 1 because I only bought season 2.

It's been a slower gen, but I've always loved Sony. I also have always enjoyed MS too. I just have had a lot of great times with my PS4 since launch.

I got the Xbox and 360 on launch and this time I waited for the XBO, but I'm pretty good at buying launch consoles though- DC, PS1/2, GC, etc.

I just waited on the Wii U for Bayonetta 2 and now the XBO.

Edit: it hasn't really been slow, but the exclusives have meant more for me with Sony. XBO is slowly getting theirs. Scalebound looks good.

Nope.
Xbox One has been gathering dust. The handful of games I've gotten for it has been nice but it was absolutely not worth the purchase since I already had a PS4. On the bright side next year is looking good for the bone so i'm looking forward to that

No, not really. the xbox and ps4 only have a couple of good exclusives so far granted bloodborne is a pretty damn good exclusive.

As always, yes. But I don't think that the PS4 will really start to reach it's potential for me until next year with the likes of Uncharted 4, No Man's Sky and Horizon.

I have to say no.I have the XBone,Ps4,Wii u and a powerful gaming pc.If im completely honest i use my PC daily,Ps4 next then Wii u.The only game ive spent time with on Xbone is Sunsent Overdrive which i love.In the future this may change with games like Scalebound. But at the moment i cant justify my Xbone.

Nope, hadnt touch my ps4 since bloodborne, and it looks like it wont change this year, i keep it for the 2016 games.. i guess...

I got into Halo just about a year ago so the MCC justifies the purchase. Scalebound and ReCore also look good. It certainly helped that I only paid €250 for the machine, BC will also help. The PS4 is my main gaming machine at the moment I mostly play My future wishlist is packed:

Sentinels: Aegis Rim
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance
Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy XV
Gravity Rush
Gravity Rush 2
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue
Kingdom Hearts III
The Last Guardian
Ni-Oh
NieR 2
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir
Persona 5
Ratchet & Clank
Rime
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Hardware wise I have no complains. Both controllers are better than last gen, both OSes are fast enough and soon the XB1 will even look pleasing.

Not really.

My Xbone is pretty much a media player and Rare Replay machine. Not interested in any of the exclusives announced so far, and I get all my multiplats on PS4 anyway. Not interested in Tomb Raider either, not after how mediocre the first one was. I just keep the Xbox around because of the media player, and because I got it pretty cheap in the first place. Plus, I can always just try some of the exclusives further down the line when they're cheaper.

XB1 for exclusives and everything else for PS4. I had mp games for xb1 but there have been times where I've run into the same people(bit concerning when it happened on halo mcc and gears ue)so now multiplayer on ps4.
