Folks that own both a PS4 and X1, are you able to justify both purchases thus far?

I have an X1, 2 PS4s, WiiU and a gaming PC. With Halo coming out this month I can justify the X1. Will pick up F6 at the Christmas discounts. Next year though is looking grim.

No, I've had owned and sold 3 Xbox one's, not because I don't like box one, but because all I play is destiny on PS3, so when I see my Xbox just sitting there I see money I can't touch. When that rare pirates game comes out I'll return to Xbox, I'm assuming next summer or winter
It was much easier to justify last gen,Xbox had the COD exclusive stuff

PS4 yes.
Wii U no (even though I had all exclusives I wanted at the point that I sold the Wii U).
XB1 not yet. I have Forza Horizon 2, Forza 6, but I am glad I have it for Killer Instinct. Even though I haven't put a ton of time into KI, I do love it and even bought a $200 stick for it.

I put the X1 in my son's room but he's at that age where video games are the last thing he's interested in so it don't get used much. I'll probably bring it down stairs when the new Tomb Raider game comes out

I have all 3 plus a Gaming PC, and I'd like to say that my purchases were justified but the truth is that I should probably only have one or 2 platforms. I don't really have the disposable income to support all 4, but I couldn't help it. I felt like I had to get them all for some reason. I don't regret it, but I do realize its not financially responsible. That being said, I really do like being able to switch between Rocket League/The Show ,Halo/Forza, Mario, and Steam with a push of a button.

I love my xbone for multiplats ans exclusives, and i plan on getting a ps4 in the next 3 months for exclusives, i want to play bloodborne sofaking bad and uncharted 4 just looks to good.

Bought an Xbox One recently for Gears Ultimate and now I'm getting a bit of buyers remorse. The UI is horrible and I'm getting tired of network problems in gears. Tempted to sell, but I will wait for Halo 5 and see if that keeps me playing.

No.

I have a gaming PC, WiiU, X1 and PS4.

My PS4 and PC are all I use, the Xbox and Wii collect dust. They're great systems but the library is so similar, especially on X1 compared to PS4/PC that I just can't find time to play them. I'd love to play ROTR on my Xbox but I'll be busy with Fallout on PC. I'd love to finish Capitan Todd but I'm busy with Nathan Drake Collection on my PS4. I bought Sunset Overdrive last Christmas and haven't even booted it up. It's a shame really

It doesn't help that I find the X1 and WiiU UIs slow and clunky, the systems are fine when I'm in a game but doing other stuff is often frustrating. The new X1 updated interface looks amazing and can't come soon enough

PS4 has by and large been my most used system due to third-party performance/content advantages. Exclusives haven't been huge for me, but I do pick up a lot of great indies for cheap or with PS+.
Wii U comes in a close second. Splatoon, great Mario titles, Smash. Great first party across the board. Runbow has been pretty fun when the gang is over.
Xbox One has largely been a dust gatherer. I wasn't enamored with Sunset Overdrive, but I enjoy Horizon 2 and Master Chief Collection from time to time. Halo 5 will get a lot of time but ultimately it will fall out of favor when Fallout 4 arrives. Mostly bought it for a new Fable title but Fable Legends is not what I expected.
PC has been all but ignored when it comes to single player games. I don't have a comfortable layout, to play compared to console. It is probably the most popular when it comes to local multiplayer games like Duck Game, Rivals of Aether, Cobalt, and tons of others.

I can justify my XB1 because I've played a lot of great games on it and I love me some halo and gears. I also take advantage of Xbox fitness and a lot of the media features.

I can kind of justify my WiiU purchase because my kids love it and we all get to play together.

I can justify my PC purchase because I use it for lots of things then just games.

I can't justify my PS4 purchase as the only games I've played on it have are TLOU, bloodbourne, Infamous and even though I really enjoyed bloodbourne none of those games were worth the purchase. Holding out for uncharted

I can't justify my 3DS purchase because if I'm going to play a mobile game I'll do it on my phone

I bought my Xbox One with Kinect in March refurbished from Cowboom because it was cheap and I really wanted to play Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive. I played both for a while but got bored pretty quickly and considered selling it. I let my brother borrow it in April and he kept it until I let a friend borrow it in mid-September so now he has it. I thought about getting Rare Replay but just don't think I'd have the time to play any collectathons. I'll probably end up selling it next time I get it back because I'm not really interested in any of the exclusives because most that I want are coming to PC.

My PS4 is pretty much for Blu-rays, streaming movies and playing Rocket League. I'll probably move to PC for Rocket League eventually. There are definitely a lot of games I want for the PS4 that aren't on PC afaik and if I were playing FFXIV I'm sure I'd use it a lot more but I'm less likely to buy them because price drops don't seem to be as common.

My PC is still my go to.

Xbox: Gears of War UE. That's literally it, and I'm A-Okay with it because I've played it more than any other game this gen and it's totally worth it. Otherwise it'd be collecting dust.

The UI is fucking godawful though.

PS4: Infamous:SS, TLoU (which I never played on the PS3), Resogun, Multiplats, N++, Uncharted coming up.

I was messing around on eBay one day - I didn't expect to win it (£200 new) - but was happy with a bargain. The only game I've played is MCC, and barely touched Horizon.

PS4 I jumped on the hype train. Seems to be serving me well as my main console. Also, have a Wii U which was a gift and enjoy playing that from time to time. Only PC gaming I do is on my laptop to play some indie games.

Sure. I can play what I want to play regardless of what system it's on. Having all the systems also makes list war threads hilarious.

I have Wii U, Xbox One, and PS4 with the XB1 easily getting the most use. I feel the purchase of all three is justified for exclusives, but at the same time the Wii U and the PS4 do see long periods of inactivity.

If I had to give one up it would be the PS4, at least until a sequel to TLOU is made.

I game more on PS4 because pretty much all my friends are on PS4.

But right now, i prefer my XB1 a little more because of Forza 6, Killer Instinct and Gears remaster.

But, i have so little time to play that i may sell at least one of my consoles next year. I'm not sure i'll keep my XB1 after i beat Quantum Break and i will see what Gears 4 has to offer. I don't play my Wii U that much other than the occasional Mario Kart 8 with friends.

My PS4 though gets a lot of use and that will only get bigger. 2016 looks like an incredible year for the PS4, Uncharted 4, Street Fighter 5, Horizon, Last Guardian alone will consume my life !

I always kept my PlayStation consoles because they keep their value so well and the games are truely exclusive on the console. I also like their first party franchises a lot and Sony does support their consoles for a long time.

I had both since launch. However, I only played a few games early on with the PS4, and spent the rest on the XB1. PS4 just sat under the TV collecting dust while I played everything, exclusive or third party, on the XB1. None of the PS exclusives interested me like I thought they would.

About a month ago, after having not turned it on for about a year or so, I sold my PS4. Could not justify having both, and saw nothing on the horizon I personally was interested in that would make me keep it.

tl;dr: No.

I can't really justify my X1 right now. I think I want to get the connect so I can use it more with it.

Does anyone know if I can do a voice command to make it look for a different input? If I want to switch from X1 to PS4 can I say "Xbox, go to input/channel/whatever X"?

But I never had both of the leading consoles before and it feels good knowing that I get to enjoy all consoles game regardless of exclusivity.

I think so - and weirdly enough it's my Xbox One that has been easier to justify. The only real 'wow' game on the PS4 has been Bloodborne - all the other games I own for it are multiplats or remasters.

I'm happy I bought both, though.

If anything, the most (mildly) irritating thing has been the crossover between PS+ and XBL Gold freebies, but complaining about getting tons of shit doesn't make sense.

I have a PS4 and Xbox One. However the PS4 barely gets used so far and I have only been buying PlayStation exclusives for it.

I also have a gaming pc I built in March that I play on sometimes. I use the Xbox more because that's where my friends are and its also the only place I can play Titanfall.

i have all 3 and a decent gaming PC.

i justify them by splitting my time between them

PC - primarily strategy games, i've put 1000's of hours into both Total War games and Football Manager games

PS4 - Primarily single player games, I have some MP but I have alot of the exclusives aswell, spent many a hour in Rocket League for example.... also completed infamous, watchdogs and other games that i'm forgetting

X1 - Primarily multiplayer games (Destiny, loads of hours, BF4 loads of hours), a decent amount of SP games (i get cheapish games through friends so i'll take it if it's cheaper)

Wii U - primarily play it with the missus or for party games if required.... good fun but yeah neglected a bit

No, but maybe I'll change my mind in the future. I just sold my XBONE over the weekend as I never used it and it was simply taking up too much space on my desk. I found the exclusives not too enticing since there weren't many I'd enjoy or can now play on PC. I might look into getting it again next fall since I do really want to play Quantum Break.

I bounce in-between them a lot but currently doing most of my gaming on Xbox One due to the better battery life on the controller.

Also the Covert Forces controller made me incredibly happy with how much better it feels than the launch one.

Most of my friends are on PS4 and currently only play it when it's a game I can't play on Xbox and if it's a game where most of my friends are on PS4.

Might keep doing this for a while. Really satisfied with how MS has been updating their feature set and integration with Windows.

I own all the systems and play them as I want. PC/Wii U/Xbone/PS4/Vita/3ds. Why do I have to justify anything what I do with my own money?

Since day one.

I love both systems. I get each system for their exclusives, and play first person shooters or online heavy games on Xbox One, everything else like RPGs or solo games on PS4. Great balance. Use both equally. Really enjoyed early games like Knack and Infamous, and Ryse and Dead Rising 3. No regrets one bit, got 100 times my money's worth already I think time/cost wise.

Example, got Taken King on XB1, and MGSV on PS4, so I'm constantly switching.

I have all a good gaming pc, xbox one and ps4.

The answer for me is definitely not. The X1 and PC are used rarely and the PS4 gets worked every now and again. However it probably has more Netflix hours than gaming hours on it :(

Just don't have the time like I once had.

I've been using PS4 for exclusives and XB1 for everything else.

I haven't turned on the PS4 in awhile, which I should be since I'm missing the PS+ free games... lol

Picking up a PS4 in a few months for a few exclusives DC, Bloodborne and UC4, but will keep using my XB1 for everything else

Each of them has one game I absolutely love.

For XB1 it's Rare Replay. Yeah that's cheating, but there's no doubt in my mind, even with some of the problems it has, it's the best compilation ever. So much credit to MS for releasing this.

For PS4 it's Bloodborne. What a great game, but anything I'd say has already been said before.

Everything else is secondary and I don't think either has really justified their existence....yet.

I have an XB1, PS4, and a gaming PC so there is a ton of overlap when it comes to 3rd party games. Has it been worth it to me? Yes and No.

My XB gets the majority of my play time mostly because I prefer the controller. And while my PC is pretty decent, sometimes I would rather just play on a console.

My PS4 gets the least amount of play time from me. Most of the exclusives haven't been very strong IMO, and have been really sporadic in releasing. But my biggest issues with the console are it is loud and I'm not huge fan of the controller. My 6 year old however, loves Knack and has played it about 20 times, so at least he is using it.

For me the biggest reason I own both consoles is that I don't buy them for today, I buy them for tomorrow. I know plenty of content that interests me will be on both over the life of the consoles. Plus I am fortunate enough to be able to afford both without having to sacrifice things like food or rent to get them.

Nope. Xbone was a waste of money.
Bought it for Master Chief, that sucked.
I havent played more than 30 minutes of any game I own on there (via Gold or the 2 games I bought)

Justify? No...not really. I shouldn't have moved up from my PS3 tbh. Have a ton of games leftover untouched. Initially I was cool with just my Wii U, but wound up snatching up a Destiny PS4 last year. Now that stupid game has me hooked like an addict which makes it tough to play something else at times. Then Best Buy did the Xbone + 40" TV for $500. Too good to pass up. Barely play the Xbone tho. Let my friend borrow it. I told myself when this gen started I wouldn't succumb to all three systems again....but here I am...

sure

i use my Xbox one for everything and most games that my son and i play we buy on Xbox since we buy digital and have two systems. the way sony treats sub accounts is a reason for much of that. Dual shock 4 while better still sucks also.

had Wii U since launch no regrets i own every console every generation so i can play everything.

PS4 get used for exclusives only and Playstation VUE.

WiiU PS4 and and Xbox 1 all at launch and I still buy all my games on PC.

Tbh if I had my time back I'd just skip the consoles.

Absolutely! I do multiplatforms on the PS4, but Xbox is fantastic, esp racing games, and the compilations (halo, gears, rare).

Add to that sunset, and Forza, and hopefully TR will be good.

Love the Xbox controller too, and the system is my go-to media player as well.

I'm also not too into ps4 exclusives (bloodborne, tearaway, little big planet), even though I assumed I would be when I first bought it.

X1 is a wonderfully pleasant surprise for me this generation. VERY happy.

But I like them both.

Anyone want to buy a nearly never used WiiU? Lol.
