Did the NRA release a statement ?
smth smth, more guns, everyone safer
Did the NRA release a statement ?
i think rightwingers are just dogmatic in the way they interpret the president's every move and word. The Iran deal specifically requires Iran to get rid of their means of acquiring nuclear weapons and heavily monitors their activities throughout that process.
This whole "omg he's making it easy for them to get weapons!!!" narrative is factually wrong.
are you reacting to the meme? or the article?
which?Yes.
That it could be much worse given how many firearms are out there.
No it's not. There shouldn't be any, ultimately. My point is that it could be worse than it currently is (not that the status quo is ideal).
Tired of getting jumped here, quite frankly.
the right wing is having a field day with this, blaming obama for politicizing it. what the fuck do they think they're doing?
"wait for the facts" my ass -- they don't fucking care what the facts are. its a delaying tactic, and the only answer is "we need more guns"
which?
Tired of getting jumped here, quite frankly.
Seeing a lot of right wing media posting
"Forget the gunman, remember the hero"
If only this country would remember the growing pile of dead people.

If we did that then we might be tempted to try and stop it's growth! Think of the profits man! Think of the profits!
What does that even mean? What hero?
I wonder how much bullet and firearms sales will go up this weekend?
Forgive my ignorance on this story, and I haven't had a chance to watch the speech, but, was this labeled as a hate crime?
I'm way out of the loop with this one.
What does that even mean? What hero?
glad you find this humorous now can you answer the question?I shouldn't be laughing in this thread, but goddamn you just got me.
There was an ex army guy that tried to rush the shooter and got shot 5 times.
Apparently one of the victims was able to momentarily fight back before being killed, quite possibly preventing the shooter from killing more people.
I'm glad he addressed the issue of opponents criticizing him for 'politicizing a tragedy to push reform laws' or 'that it's too soon to talk about laws, respect the victims'. Because the time for reform is when the tragedy happens (ideally the laws would already be in place before the tragedy ever had a chance of occurring), not months after the issue has occurred. Politicizing these tragedies and being an activist for reform is the only way to prevent these tragedies from reoccurring.

I believe it was this vet, got 5 times but he survived

Ah OK didn't hear about that.
But yes I do wish they would stop naming the shooters in these cases. Even if it will get out eventually it irks me to see his face and name on TV.
What does that even mean? What hero?
Someone on my Facebook just posted a picture of the dude that tried to stop the gunman in Oregon, saying "If this man would have had a concealed carry - gunman down."
There's one point I agree with, though, is the fact that it was quite despicable of Obama to politicize the issue (yet again). It's just going to make people that were on the fence even more annoyed at his attempt to bring forth gun control/revoking the second amendment.
This happened after Sandy Hook:

The most recent Quinnipiac poll, taken a few days ago (before the shooting) has support at 93%. This is, of course, if respondents are directly asked about background checks. It's a start.
Sure. He put forward gun legislature in 2013 that was all shot down by congress. Should be noted that the NRA spent a record amount on congressional lobbying that particular year.

Didn't want to put it in the OP, but I also found this.
Totally insane gun nut responds to speech. Like "I don't even know if this thing took place" crazy. This is what we're up against.

glad you find this humorous now can you answer the question?
With such strong bipartisan support, you'd think it would get past congress right? Obama would make it his highest priority and cancel all other appointments to sign it into law too.
Thank you for this.Sandy Hook gets mentionned a tad casually now

It wasn't just a stat
This country's stupid ass sadistic fascination with owning guns and being able to buy them at convenient stores like fucking candy is beyond sickening. How many damn lives have we already lost to these gun loving terrorists? The situation will only get worse given the mental state of most politician fucks and the dumbass majority they represent.
na, not really. i'm guessing you were laughing because...of this? Both. I was saying that about both.
Geeze, that one just went right over your head didn't it?

You would indeed. With such strong bipartisan support, you'd think it would get past congress right?

that's where i remember it from, so i guess i still don't get it/know it (origin of it). That's hardly the first place to use the joke, I was laughing because you seemed not to get it.
WOW! I missed Sandy Hook on news/gaf and I don't know how, but I did. So I'm gonna be blunt. Considering the victims INNOCENT CHILDREN I'm seriously in disbelief that nothing reactionary was done once and for all about this gun issue. How could that event not change things?

anyways, so back to the reason why i was asking, you think people are being silly in tying in isis's tweets about the shooting to the shooter himself?
Why can't he put another legislature this year or next year? Honest question.
I wish if we got something like this again, more people would chime in. I know it was under my radar at that time and it was me being stupid. I also hope that some billionaires like Gates or Buffet would triple whatever the NRA invested to stop the law into making it a law. As big a humanitarian and as fair as they are, you'd think they would want a more sensible gun law in this country.
Hey man, Obama tried. It even turned public opinion, even now a majority of the people in this country are down for some new regulations, but Congress said fuck you to everyone.

Add the Republicans in those +20 rural districts in the bleeding heart of KS, WV, PA, WY, ND, SD, LA, MS, AR, TN, GA, AL, SD, MT, UT, ID, KY, SC, NC, NE, IA, VA, OH, IN, OK, WI, MO, CO, NM, NV
Welcome to the sad state of American politics, where an entire classroom of children can be gunned down and our Congress still refuses to do anything about it, and remain in the pockets of gun lobbies.
It is absolutely a broken system that does not value even the most innocent and vulnerable of people.
