The tragedy should get much more media attention. Just like every other issue. And politicians, including the democratic candidates running for President need to be strict and clear about their stances regarding gun control going forward.
As far as i know, Bernie Sanders has not taken money from the NRA, but you'd be hard pressed to defend some of his votes in the congress which has always been saddening to me considering his near spotless record on every other issue compared to Hillary.
Hillary should definitely hit him on that during the debates, so he can really talk about that at length. Just because you are a representative of a hunting state that is rural and has virtually no gun control whatsoever, means little for national decision making if you get into the White House.

I'm glad he addressed the issue of opponents criticizing him for 'politicizing a tragedy to push reform laws' or 'that it's too soon to talk about laws, respect the victims'. Because the time for reform is when the tragedy happens (ideally the laws would already be in place before the tragedy ever had a chance of occurring), not months after the issue has occurred. Politicizing these tragedies and being an activist for reform is the only way to prevent these tragedies from reoccurring.

There was an ex army guy that tried to rush the shooter and got shot 5 times. He survived btw.
There's already an ammo shortage due to people buying it up on fears Obama's gonna send the black helicopters for their guns.
We don't even know why he did it yet.
Apparently one of the victims was able to momentarily fight back before being killed, quite possibly preventing the shooter from killing more people.

Besides, "politicizing" and "not the time" critiques are nothing more than silencing tactics from people who never want the issue brought up for discussion, at any time.
It's a transparent attempt to shame Obama for being political, apparently the worst sin a politician can commit, while themselves seeming compassionate and sensitive. People need to not only get political, but call out this tactic for what it is.

Someone on my Facebook just posted a picture of the dude that tried to stop the gunman in Oregon, saying "If this man would have had a concealed carry - gunman down."

He's still alive, unless he died in the last hour. His doctors/family say he will make a full recovery although he has to learn to walk again.
The guy who tried to block a door but got shot.
The media has a checklist of things they need for a shooting at this point, and a hero is one of them. This guy was a victim as much as anyone else who got shot, but because he's a veteran and survived multiple gunshot wounds, it'll have to do.

The most recent Quinnipiac poll, taken a few days ago (before the shooting) has support at 93%. This is, of course, if respondents are directly asked about background checks. It's a start.
With such strong bipartisan support, you'd think it would get past congress right? Obama would make it his highest priority and cancel all other appointments to sign it into law too.
Why can't he put another legislature this year or next year? Honest question.
I wish if we got something like this again, more people would chime in. I know it was under my radar at that time and it was me being stupid. I also hope that some billionaires like Gates or Buffet would triple whatever the NRA invested to stop the law into making it a law. As big a humanitarian and as fair as they are, you'd think they would want a more sensible gun law in this country.
I'm of the opinion that this guy should be in the front page of CNN, NBC, ABC, etc. Actually I think when (let's be honest, unfortunately it's a "when", not "if" and we can only hope it doesn't happen to us) another mass shooting happens, then Obama should have this guy and other crazy gun yielding maniacs speak out in favor of the current gun laws.

Hey man, Obama tried. It even turned public opinion, even now a majority of the people in this country are down for some new regulations, but Congress said fuck you to everyone.
There's no proof this had anything to do with them, it's fear mongering on both sides. ISIS wants us to think they have that kind of reach and the people who published the article know that fear of ISIS will drive clicks. That article is pure clickbait.

Have you seen our congress lately? Realistically, it wouldn't pass. The best thing to do is vote for politicians that want this. That means voting in elections every year instead of every 4 years.
