It looks fine.
It was never going to be graphically impressive.
It's a massive improvement over the console versions of 3 and NV and I never had a problem with either of them.
As long as the frame rate is solid does it really mater what it looks like?
But the framerate wont be solid. You watch. It will also look similar to this and still run like dogshit on PC.

The bizzare thing is that this UI was in the first trailer released and I was thinking "this must be some placeholder that will get changed" and nope this is the real thing, which is mindblowing to me. I mean FO3 had terrible UI too, but compared to this it was at least somewhat decent looking.
I just hope someone will mod this out on release day because I don't want to play with that eyesore and I have the game on preorder.

Bad UIs are a time-honored Bethesda tradition. I don't know how you could come to expect anything else.

Can you manipulate every item in the environment in Witcher?

In those screenshots I don't see every object that is typically manipulable in a Bethesda game. Those objects would have been culled long before you'd even hit half of that draw distance. Those distance shots really are quite below the bar of contemporaries.

Well, immersion in games is very important, and good graphics makes immersion easier, so I think it's valid to be disappointed and say it will likely impact your enjoyment on the game.

I personally know that as I play the game the bad graphics will be standing out and drawing me out of the experience.

But I don't think anyone has said it would be a bad game just because of the graphics? Or if they have I missed it.

You have someone on this page alone saying they should kill the franchise. Because of graphics.

So, did Bethesda start with the plastic Pip Boy and work their way through Fallout 4, making everything look plastic to match it?

A lot of work just to make a collectors item looked pulled straight from the game. I guess they couldn't figure out how to not let it cast shadows, though.

The build quality of the Pip Boy is a travesty.

How the fuck CD Prjkt with a fraction of the budget and staff made one of the best looking games to date is beyond me, shame on bethesda.

Nope it doesn't. It looks better in Trailers, especially the draw distance for shadows and foliage. I posted a comparison somewhere on page 7, if you are interested to check it out for yourself.

But I agree with your last point. This is probably why the game isn't a graphical powerhouse in the first place.

I think it's safe to assume that trailers and gameplay demos were of the PC version.

Looks good, witcher 3 was a buggy mess at launch yet people seem to ignore that. Also witcher 3 reuses so many character models and assets. people saying this looks last gen are blind.

You're saying this like none of these things apply to Bethesda games...

to everyone defending it,
yes we didnt expect 'impressive'.
but this isnt even close to average. ive seen far more impressive looking kickstarter projects.
being all above gameplay doesn't excuse it from looking 'UGLY'.
and there's a huge difference between not blowing us away and looking straight up bad.

We all expected fallout 4 to look like this. Bethesda does really need to step up their games graphically though. It is getting pretty bad when you have issues like monsters missing shadows 6 feet in front of you. Hopefully they do a huge overhaul on their tech for their next title.

What i really want to hear about is bugs though that is what is keeping me away from fallout 4 atm.

I think most people had expected it to look like the reveal trailer, the E3 footage and the other footage released after E3. That looked fine, had some lighting and shadows going on. These shots show nothing of it. :(

One of these dogs is from a game that runs at 60FPS on consoles. 9/10 people can't tell the difference! Can you?
You see the dog on the left can't grow any fur, it's a post-apocalyptic world, the air and water is toxic, food is scarce......Therefore the dog on the left have gone through much more and is therefore more realistic and impressive ;)

That video is from almost 3 years old prototype that was even before Cryengine received PBR update. Jeeez. Pop-in is bad though in the alpha...which is why it's alpha.
Does this game not have a 2016 release schedule? We shall review this when it releases....

Looks fine to me...then again I have rose-tinted glasses when it comes to these games...I really don't care what it looks it.

Imagine playing Fallout 4 with the pip-boy on your wrist, and somebody knocking on your door.

Would you...

A) Just answer the door. Or...
B) Take your pip-boy off first, and then answer the door.

Because I know which one I'd do. And that says a lot.

Why do you post a pre-release bullshot that isn't using the released game's lighting engine when it looks better on your PC?

Deliberately deceiving media used to make the comparison more fair in some weird twist of logic?

The point stands, the game looks better with a fraction of the money and staff, the SS was there only to ilustrate.

please tell me we can mod the UI on PC. I mean the game looks hideous, but I can live with that - the UI on the other side...what were they thinking?

Did people really think Fallout 3 looked bad in 2008? I was blown away by that draw distance on the 360 back in the day, it looked amazing to me for something of its scale running on that console.
This however, oof. I mean, I can tolerate bad looking games but this is on another level thank to the missing shadows, everything just looks flat.

You're saying this like none of these things apply to Bethesda games...

this lol.
just lol.

also, i can make my 2009 laptop produce a far better looking game out of fallout with mods so YES. it does look last gen as fuck.
open world is no excuse. half the games these days are open world.

I'm sad how much people shit post this game :(

Cheer yourself up by thinking about how these same people are going to feel when it reviews and sells tremendously.
Is that how you call critical thinking ? There is nothing wrong with coldly stating that what we're seeing here is supbar graphics wise.

Perhaps he's referring to actual shit posts and not people merely being critical of graphics.
