GAF, how much do you make?

I used to make about $65,000 a year working in the high-end clothing business, but in NYC that really isn't very much.

Wasn't happy with my career so now I'm in school, and my income is.... well about $5k from grants and education-based tax returns, plus whatever help my (thankfully willing) family can afford to throw me every now and then.

$26,000 on average.

21, and Roofing Construction. Primarily bending, and installing sheet metal stuff like roof panels, and gutters just to name a few.

Last year I made $101,082 with bonus.

DC area, though. Feel like money just disappears.
DC is expensive as fuck.

I loved it but fuck that traffic and you have to have some serious money if you want a house there in the good school districts and don't want a 2 hour commute.

Money goes a lot further in PA.

I am 26 and I make 50k. I just got a promotion so there is a raise coming - not sure how much, but I'll probably be at 55-60k. I live in Austin with a roommate and no car, so expenses are pretty low. I'm pouring everything into student loans.

22, about 132000PHP in a year. That's roughly around $ 2870. Graphic Artist, with side jobs getting thrown at me because they won't hire new people.

I should get out of this job.

35k Last year. Be around 40k this year.
I'm 28. Carpenter. Mostly framing, some forming.

Would love to buy a house but vancouver...

35, About 35k, about 1/4 of which is tax free. I do corrosion testing on natural gas lines. I also live in northern Michigan so that money goes a long ways.

Yeah, I used to commute. Four years ago I moved and now I'm about 70 yards from work. Drive like 10 miles a month. It's amazing.

Save a ton on gas and car maintenance.

Alas, still no money lol.

26 years old

Roughly 17k while I'm part time and in school.

Once I graduate, hopefully starting at 45k per year.

If my business does well someday then probably 150k+

I make $22.25 per hour at a hospital, so around $50,000 per year if I were full time. Pretty incredible considering I only had to get a 10 week nursing aid certificate for it. I'm in college so it's a great part time job. I also get benefits and they pay for $4,000 in school credits per year(8k if you're a full timer)

Sheesh not bad at all, what part of the country?

I'm at 13.x an hour in campus security... 22 ph sounds great

I'm so sick of this income..

44.5k CAD working a job thats completely out of my field. I really hope to get back on track one day though.

52k in a 70-30 salary to commision split job last year, i'm 25.

Could make more if I applied myself, but I and my managers recognize I don't put in as much effort anymore. Well above median income in my area and i'm single with no kids, so im doing alright. I think the term is complacent though. I sometimes get depressed that my drive is gone.

I need to do something else. Maybe something actually in my field.

I used to make about $100k, as a software developer. I quit my job about a month ago to go study ("following your dreams" is easy when you have a safety net!), also lost all my stock options.

I'm 23.

If this thread has taught us anything it's the obvious - if you want money go learn how to program.

19k, 9-12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. So about 2k of that is overtime.

everyone else is fussing over the big ones, I want to poke at yours a bit more.

assuming 9 hours a day 5 days a week that is 40 hours of normal pay and 5 hours of overtime. assume time and a half 47.5 hours a week. or puts your job at merely 7.69 an hour.

I'm not sure where you work but that seems really low as if we do the upper end of what you said 12 hours a day 6 days a week. that is 40 hours of normal pay 32 hours of over time or effectively 88 hours a week or you would be making 4.15 an hour.

thus, I am curious where you live, what you do and what not :P

as for me I work part time at a charity/thrift store at $11 an hour thus i make about 16k per year before taxes, but supplements my wife's income way better than that since we haven't had to buy furniture, clearing supplies, clothes and various other things you can find at a thrift store out side of my store at a tiny fraction of store prices thus the value of my income is closer to 25-30k due to all the perks (christmas is nice for my family anymore :P)

I could make more easily, but prefer to have more free time to attempt to learn Japanese, attempt to learn programming, slowly write a novel, and write some music. at some point I will have to start showing off those to people if i ever want to make money from them :P oh and I am like 29 i think.

Started an eCommerce development company 16 years ago, I'm turning 40 next year and make in the range of AUD$100K-$135K per year as it fluctuates. 3 year plan to push over $150K-$175K, we'll see how that goes.

Misses makes around $35K so we're comfortable but not mega rich as Australia is expensive to live in. We're knocking our house down next year to build a new one and looking for an investment property as well. Currently own about 60% of our house mortgage too, fun times.

Also kids are expensive little buggers, lucky we love em.

This thread is incredible.

I make around 13,200€ = around 14,000$ a year, in France. I'm 30 and had been unemployed for a while so there's that.

It's minimum wage in France but that's what MANY people around me make. The ones who earn more make only double of that (except doctors etc...) which is far from the 70k or 100k that are thrown in this thread.

I don't understand why there is so much income disparity with the US or uk...

Edit: Cost of living I suppose...

24, On 64k AUD.

Which is like 12 bucks a year, US.

Im guessing you live in the country and not near a city, as France is expensive as hell, especially the housing market.

In Dallas our morgage on a 300k house cost us a little less than 2k, we have auto loans, some students loans, and other things that cut into our income. While together we make over tripple digits, it never really feels like it.

Long Island so the cost of living is indeed quite high (highest in the county I think?). I have friends who've just graduated with engineering degrees making only 10k or so more than I am so I think it's still quite high in comparison.

STEM master race is real. Well, the TE part, for sure. Even something like a sys admin role can see you edging towards 6 figures, let alone being an engineer. Just stay away from academia.

Median income for an individual in USA is $27k.

Shit, that's actually really low! Despite all these rich GAF sods. That can't be current can it?

In the UK it's now £26,500 ($40,768 / €37,507).

Edit: Just Googled and it does appear to be true. Genuinely shocked.

You're right, but in computer related subjects you can make that much without a degree (as I did). I doubt you'd even have an easy time getting a job as a civil engineer or something without a degree.

34, part-time, around $ 50k a year before tax. I live in one of the most expensive countries in the world though, so it's all about perspective.

I'm 45, pulling about $60k before bonuses (Those are usually 5k-8k). I am a buyer for a Lumber company in Seattle area. Cost of living is high'ish here, so you can burn through a $50k/yr income without even thinking about it.

I hope to be $100k+ in the next 5yrs.

Just signed for about $250k all-in post-MBA. Will scale up from there at a decent pace.

27 years old, but have a final year to ride out in business school.

Manhattan, which means tax will eat up a big chunk, but taxes are worth it here.

27. I'm a supervisor for a multi-national retail company and I earn 19p above the minimum wage for my age bracket (21+): £6.89. A quick x*40*52 gives me £14k. It's a shame I have no career path in mind, I known I could and should be on more by now.

31. Probably 14-15k a year. No marketable skills, I guess. I mean, I have them, but terrible luck getting any hiring companies to pay attention.

I live in a small city, in the South of France. It is a lot cheaper than Paris but still reputed to be expensive as far as housing is concerned, mainly because it's a "student city" and one of the very few attractive cities of the south, even though there are no jobs.

We rent a one bedroom apartment with large balcony and garage and pay 670€ a month. I think it's not that expensive. In Paris it would cost double of that I guess, but the wages are barely higher.

My gf earns the same salary as me and we make ends meet but still... Looking at this thread, I should get into programing...

My income last year was $0.
Income this year is around $10,000
All things keep looking good, I'll be at $34,000 next year with the possibility to make $50,000+.
