That fitted in with the narrative of NV though.

I don't think this is spoiler material, but I'll tag it anyway,
let's be honest, your child is stolen and your significant other is killed in front of your eyes, and you find out that you were cryo frozen to be a guinea pig, that's enough to push anyone over the edge a little.

Exactly, that's what I'm saying is they should NOT have made a main story that involves
your spouse and child.

They should not have done the pre-war stuff. They should not have done the vault stuff. In addition, they shouldn't have done voice acting.

Ah thank you very much! Speaking as someone who was actually updating the Wiki for New Vegas during the release window I got to say that Im surprised to see that they have picked up the slack on updating the Wiki with info asap for Fallout 4.

Since I just noticed myself, I figured I'd let others know:

That "mark for search" button you can push on ingredients you don't have is really handy. It makes it so that when your crosshairs are pointed at an object in-world that would give you that item when broken down, it'll have a little magnifying glass icon on it.

GAF, help me: I'm a huge scifi fan. Battlefront is my only must-buy for 2015 as I've never played any Fallout before, but I'm willing to give it a try. I have only two remarks:

1) I tend to "over-explore" places and try to collect everything (hello OCD) and I'm afraid of getting tired before finishing the game due to the overwhelming customization/exploration options.

2) I've absolutely disliked Bethesda's control and combat mechanics when I tried the last 3 Elder Scrolls games, to the point where I lost interest in those games.

With that in mind and given I'm on PS4, should I buy this game? Thanks!
You can sell it if you don't like it?

Huh, Ink Spots. Doesn't BioShock use a few of their songs as well?

Enemies sneak up on me, I just don't notice them until they hit me a few times.

yup Im notcing that a lot. Its actually one of the reasons I dropped back to normal, on hard sometimes I get snuck up on, get hit once or twice and basically either die or almost ie, and then some other ghoul or something kills me. Was starting to NOT be fun, and im not down with that.

Still waiting on Amazon to ship my PC pip-boy edition.

It sat in "Preparing shipment" for over 48 hours (Sunday & Monday) only to flip to "Shipping Today" sometime early this morning.

Naturally, I'm not expecting it until later in the week at this point. :-/

I mean, I am not very far in, but I am assuming the story is about
finding your son
, so the whole narrative is based around taking a normal, functioning person out of society and putting them on a path to retribution in a world that's gone to shit, sounds like an interesting prospect to me, and its the basis of a lot of PA fiction.

It's the whole story arc (?) , what should they have done?, just re-jigged NV?

I'm heading to Best Buy in 30 mins to pickup my game, then I have to go back to work until Noon. Then I can go home and play my game! Can't Wait!

Am I the only one that feels building is too restrictive? I can't clip any objects and it makes tight fits is almost impossible.

Am I missing something or is it really that picky?

Guys don't leave your power armor unattended when there are still enemies around. I assumed i'd killed all raiders and left my PA to save some fuel. Moments later a guy comes rushing at me wearing a power armor. My power armor. lol

Can you unlock more objects for the workshop/base building? Sturges mentioned sandbags but I can't find them anywhere.

Also, only certain areas are salvageable, right? Been trying to pick up concrete blocks in the wilderness lol

Anyone?

Like I said, don't advertise that you can create any kind of character, if you're actually locked into a backstory and a plot that you're stuck with. I don't want to have a son, or a spouse, and I really don't like going from Loving Spouse to Killer in 0-100.

I liked being able to have the freedom to roleplay my own character, not stuck playing as Bethesda's.

Playing on PS4 and couldn't see what all the complaints about the framerate were about, seemed great..then went inside the 1st(I assume there are a lot more) raider base..Oh god. Looks like I'm going back to Tales of Zestiria and pray for some patches.

I kinda want to create a character that looks like Mel Gibson so I can run around screaming "Gimme back my son!"

I'm trying to get my head around what you're saying, and I can kinda see what you are on about, the main sticking point is that you want to make a char with a back story that isn't supported by the game?.

I mean, it's a criticism, but it's quite a niche one, the game needs a narrative arc, it's just that this one doesn't fit in with your expectations.

I know it is still early yet for people to have played the game much, but I am trying to decide whether to get this on Xbox One or PS4. I would prefer the Xbox One, just because I like the controller better and it is easier for me to chat with friends on while playing. But, if it performs noticeably worse then I would go with the PS4 version. Has anyone played the Xbox version that could give their experience with it? Does it have the 0fps dips in performance like the digital foundry article shows?

That would be a PSN digital copy actually - usually cheaper than getting physical releases where I live.
Sure It's cheaper but you can't recoup resale value if you don't like it and you sound on the fence. Which is why I would go physical console for a game like that

OMG This game is so freaking frustrating on PC, the menu system is a steaming hot pile of garbage. I look forward to the mods to fix it. Otherwise, it's fun!

I'd be inclined to wait for a few more in depth comparisons, most people and reviews aren't objective enough on these kind of things.

I am a multi-plat owner, and I went for the PS4, simply because historically it's the one with the best performance.

That's the second time I've heard that. I'm now going to have to do this on purpose just for the amusement value. I think Bethesda's developers have been playing too much GTA :D.

This. I'm playing on pc. 60 fps everywhere. Life is good. Way better than fallout 3 which still stutters to this day.
Then i go to this raider base... god... Heavy stutter. Ranging from 30s to 60.
I may cap the fps at 30. I hate fps variation.

Having a blast so far after 2-3 hours of playtime. The dialogue system really sucks though. Hardly feel in control of my character since it's a freaking guessing game.

Can someone point me in the direction of the nearest or first armor workbench u encounter upon leaving the vault. I don't remember seeing one.

My first thought was that DS 2 bull. Remember that intro? Ugh.

Feel like FO4 is kinda biased against gays/lesbians, though lol, b/c you have to be straight from the beginning. FO 3/NV had a backstory you yourself made up. Just a thought.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, i think that is what I might do. Delve into Tomb Raider until I have a better idea of which to choose. Who knows, maybe there will even be some early performance patches. It is always so hard for me to wait to grab exciting new games, even when it makes no sense to get them day 1.

I think mine still hasn't shipped from Best Buy. Has anyone who preordered from them seen anything since initiating order on 11/8? I always do store pick up but didn't this time..figures.

I went Xbox One because of the controller. This is a long session game, and my Elite is the best thing to play games with. Even if I didn't have the Elite, I'd still make the same decision.

I haven't played my copy yet, but friends on the One have said they haven't experienced this 0 fps at all (yet?).

It's not like there's any game that will let you make your own completely immersive backstory that's actually referenced in-game.

Actually I've just found a pretty amazing deal for a physical copy so I guess I'll have to give it a try. Thanks bro!

Think I know what you mean and at least for walls I think the game tells you when they stick together. It doesnt help you though for connecting walls to a basement which pretty much sucks...

Anyone with more experience regarding this?

So according to the bit about 'Destiny as a benchmark' in the GameInformer Making Of article, Bethesda constantly referred to Destiny in an effort to make the guns and gun combat in FO4 as good as possible.

Has this come to fruition at all? Is gun combat any good? The Guardian says no, and I'm very sceptical.

Anyone picked up the physical guide yet? I'm about to pull the trigger on a Best Buy order, but still not sure it's worth it. I'm usually a sucker for physical guides when it comes to big RPGs.

Yeah the fps drops in certain buildings are really rough and make proper aiming impossible.
Hoping this gets patched asap because its really disturbing my game experience, but knowing Bethesda...
After all it took Cd project several months to fix the Witchers fps issues.
