If no one has answered you, have you gone outside and all the way to the top of the stairs? there's a dude hiding out up there
I think the only thing you need to, is to kill a named Raider called
Jared
and yeah, like someone mentioned, I stumbled upon that staircase by accident as well.

On the very top of the plant is a bobble head tho.

I am so inconsistent with lock picking, sometimes first times, sometimes I need 5 bobby picks. So annoying. Why isn't there a instant unlock like in Fallout 3/NV and Skyrim ?

So I have $60 in my PSN wallet and I want to play this game, but I'm still not sure about it. Give me some impressions gaf, is the game good? how is the bugs?

Played for 5 hours yesterday. Archiving the footage to YouTube as we speak.

No bugs. Game is smooth. Using an SSHD hard drive, so the load Times are pretty fast. Playing on hard mode.

This game is actually fun to play, nit just fun to experience. The combat and level design is a huge upgrade to previous fallouts. I spent 5 hours yesterday with the intention of only playing 2. Somehow 2 hours turned into 5 And a half.

Just asking again because I really want to mod my weapons
You don't need to scrap anything apart from weapons (if you want to). A Broom is already considered "(2) Wood" and will be scrapped automatically if Wood is needed. So just collect Fans, Telephones etc and store them in your workbench, there is even a button for it - they will be used automatically.

I don't even try to solve the hacking mini game. Just choose 3 random words. If it doesn't work, back out, try again. Been doing this since fallout 3.

Came across my first legendary enemy! It was a fucking cockroach and it died in two hits so kind of a bummer for the first one, but eh, legendary is legendary. Got a nice piece of armor from it.

Also, is it just me or do the companions feel kinda useless? The robot was okay when enemies are jumping in its face, but otherwise it seems like these assholes refuse to do anything. Tried switching the robot to the black sheriff guy, he's practically useless. Shoots once every 5 minutes and misses every time.

Yeah, it's lame.

What's lamer is that picklocking doesn't have force now. Hate that minigame.

I wish the shooting felt better. I'm getting used to it, I am just missing a lot because it's not as smooth as I'm used to with destiny. It's definitely better than before.

I'm mostly just taking it slow, if I run up on some dudes I die really quickly. Loving this interactive game so far!

Anyone playing primarily in 3rd-person? If so, how is the playability?

The pace of the walk makes it impossible to explore so you are going to have to switch to first person when indoors.
The shooting and the melee take a bit of getting used to but it's not as bad as Fallout 3 or Skyrim where you just can't aim properly.
I think it impacts the framerate though.

How many SPECIAL point can be gained/found throughout the game? As I'm looking at my character build, there are just so many perks I want and too few points.

There's no limit to levelling up so... I do think Bethesda must have set really high unlock requirements for any level after 50.

Also, anyone who said the Xbone version doesn't stutter mercilessly must get eye-surgery IMMEDIATELY.

Played for about 12 hours already and at Level 10 but haven't even visited Diamond City for the main story quest there yet. Too invested in exploring locations around Sanctuary and doing side quests around there as they appear.

I also seem to have a major hoarding problem. I'm seriously scrounging everywhere and keeping scraps to hoard back at Sanctaury for upgrades, but also means I'm constantly micro-managing the inventory of my character and my companions inventory just to avoid overencumberment lol.

Thankfully I'm on PC so I could just remove the weight limit via the ini files and carry a whole city's worth of junk on my person I guess hahaha.

Originally started on hard difficulty but found it too difficult which was surprising. Running at normal now and having a much more consistent path of progression, but I imagine I'll raise it back up again when I'm a bit more settled into the game and have better gear.

Performance wise I am noticing some areas of the game do push the hardware heavily. Drops down to around 50ish frames at worst, but so far they haven't been consistent enough to force me to drop below the preset for my rig (i5-2500K, GTX 970, 8 GB RAM), which is all Ultra except for High godrays. Always have the Geforce Experience optimised settings to work from to obtain more frames if I need them though I guess.

Funny how the Bethesda Fallout games hook me in instantly like this, yet I've never been able to get the same sort of thing out of any of the Elder Scrolls games.

Same. Love fallout, don't care for elder scrolls.

Yes hard mode is pretty challenging at the outset. Remember buffouts and jets help. That's what makes the harder settings matter. You actually have to use your inventory. Normal mode is kind of boring in comparison, you just use one shot VAT kills all day.

ALSO, remember to explore the sewer the death crawler from concord came out of. The one showcased in all the trailers. And where do I use the Corvega Key. I got it from Gimmly the raider.

If a companion does most of the damage to an enemy I'm guessing it doesn't give experience? Having Cogsworth as a companion is a gift and a curse, guy shreds through low level enemies but they don't give experience as a result

I didn't know hardcore mode wasn't in this game. I'm glad I waited then. I never played NV without it. I'm sure a mod will add it back in.

Toys and if you get the perk to scrap weapons/armor you can get screws from those (think the perk is called Scrapper). So if you have extra pistols for example and have the perk, got to a weapon crafting bench, select the weapon you want to salvage and press R if it's on PC I think (else look at the bottom of UI to see). You will get screws from a lot of weapons.

This is always a must for me in Fallout games right when I start lol. My carry weight is now in the thousands. No piece of junk will be left behind!

How do Skill Books work? I picked up a few but do I have to do anything with them? Can I get the effect and then sell them?

It's not very obvious, is it? I'd imagine they work like bobbleheads and give the bonus right there and then and you can then sell them.

There are surprisingly many things that aren't very well explained, or explained at all, and I can't say I like it.

Is there any convenient spot with a doctor or someone near Sanctuary that sells radaway? Half my health bar has been taken up for hours.

Every time you level you can put a perk point into raising a SPECIAL. You can also find 7 bobbles that give you one permanent SPECIAL point and
a You're SPECIAL book in you're old house that gives you one point to any attribute you want.

And you gain levels so fast, you could probably max out you're character by the end game if you maximized XP gain.

There's no limit to levelling up so... I do think Bethesda must have set really high unlock requirements for any level after 50.

Also, anyone who said the Xbone version doesn't stutter mercilessly must get eye-surgery IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks for the tips!

Hey guys do you know how I can remove mods from weapons? I read on a tips list for the game that you can do that but can't find out how.

modding weapons pulls from the bench storage? fuck I need to dump all my junk in there then everytime im full

I've had Dogmeat kill an enemy all by himself and I got experience.

but quest npcs dont count if they kill them by themselves.

Thanks. On which difficulty are you playing?

Another question for the people who are playing on hard, does the enemies become bullet sponge on higher difficulty?

I agree, Elder Scrolls isn't fun to play, Fallout is.

(I am a melee guy in fantasy rpgs, it's shit in TES games.)

Eh, save for the actual perk leveling, melee combat in Fallout 4 feels very similar to Skyrim.

Granted, I only killed 1 guy with a stun baton, but I still managed to stagger him with a push and do a double power hit to kill.

420k players on Steam and rising...best Steam debut ever?

Jesus... that's huge. That means it's probably already sold well over a million on PC. Really exciting to see how many people have come to the platform in recent years.

Is there any way to craft ammo ? That's probably the one area where I am struggling at the moment as the vendor prices are ludicrous and I am consuming it alot quicker than I am finding it

I recall having the same issue in the early stages of FO3 as well until I was given that Shishkebab :)

I am not a filthy magic user in fantasy rpgs

Fallout is a shooter, and it is way better in being a fps than tes with it's melee combat system.

Really odd, can't tell if my game is bugged, killed some Feral Ghouls and didn't get any pop-ups for EXP

Same here with Cogsworth, I gotta deal at least 50% of the damage to get EXP. Annoying, no idea if it's a bug or not.

Hopefully someone mods this real quick, don't like missing EXP because of it.

The character creator is too complicated for me.

I know but I like that its there. I'm really going to sink my teeth into it my next play-through but it was giving me serious choice paralysis last night because I just wanted to play the game.

I'll ask again does anyone know if having music/radio playing through your pipboy affect stealth at all?

I wondered about this last night too. I haven't been using radio pipboy for this reason (I haven't ventured to far outside the home area yet though).

Fucking hell, Protectotron's are tough in this.

I was just exploring this abandoned area and there was one I activated. I changed it's personality to Subway Steward then it seemed angry because I didn't have a ticket and I came too close to it.
It took a shit ton of shotgun shells, 9mm rounds and 2 frag grenades.
