two stat books are in your old house. Your first bobble head will be found at the concord museum. There is a fusion core in a cave beneath the red rocket place, used for the power armor you will get soon.

wait, there are 2 in the house? I got the You're SPECIAL one, where's the other?

I wish the world would be more alive, more green like The Last of Us for example. 200 years should be more than enough for the nature to recover from a nuclear holocaust.

Can we talk about how ridiculous this timeline is? 200 years have gone by with you in the vault and no one has looted these restaurants or houses? The houses still stand and have paint etc? Trees are still dead and ruined? The art/world is wildly inconsistent.

it was one of my main gripes about fallout 3. in defense of FO4 it does a somewhat better job of portraying a world that wasn't nuked, like, a few weeks ago

Oh yeah, if someone with high intelligence is thinking of taking the Idiot Savant perk for shits and giggles: don't. I've gotten triple EXP like 5% of the time, max. Super rarely.

Well if scavenging is a concpet in the FO4 world like it was in the FO3 (which I'm assuming. I haven't played the game) then there's an issue with the consistency of the worldbuilding. It was an issue with FO3 as well.

The ghoul thing has nothing to do with that.

I was pointing out how ludicrous it is to suspend your disbelief about some scientific issue with items decaying (which has been consistent in every FO game) but ignore the outright fantasy elements of the game.

Can I safely change my name via console on PC? Does it count as cheating? I want to use my real name so Codsworth will say it.

Geez, the game sure doesn't waste any time showering you with guns and ammo...
Seems like every Raider owns at least one double-barreled shotgun. It's weird running around with a minigun, a sniper rifle, some energy-shotgun and power armor after just 4 hours....

for real its strange how quick you go from standard fallout opening wanderer to guy in power armor mowing down shit. maybe they frontloaded all that to keep action game fans interested?

yeah but this is kinda how boston looks anyways for like 4 months of the year.

How high is your int? I was thinking of taking it. My int is 4.

Edit: shite double post sorry

Agree with the post I saw earlier that I can't find anymore saying the keyboard/mouse controls aren't great...hopefully with some remapping I can fix some of these problems.

- Why is there no Take All option?
- M brings up map but doesn't toggle it away?
- Tab to go back feels weird.. constantly pressing Esc to go back a screen
- Arrow keys for dialogue suckkkk. I hope I can switch this to WASD
- L Alt for grenades sucks too, I need to remap this.
- The settlement interface is soo confusing to me. I am having a hard time just moving around my choices and placing things.

Yeah there's room for improvement with the controls but for now, doesn't r take all? Im sure there is one button.

And it's not much better but you can use 1 2 3 4 for dialogue if you can remember which is which. It will at least save you from taking your hand of the mouse

I really don't know whether I should care about the settlements or not. It seems like a lot of work so is there some really cool benefits to get from it or not?

Does anyone know if you have to do anything to get the trade routes between settlements to work once you have unlocked the perk? I know that you have to build the stores, but I couldn't find anything to build for the trade routes.

Sweet mother of fuck this
Lexington/Factory
mission took forever lol!! I was not prepared. Early game side mission spoiler
make sure you're prepared for the Factory clearing mission in Lexington. Took me all fucking morning. Like 50 Raiders in that shit. I did find a bobblehead and a comic book though. Totally worth it!

There's a way to skip most of the factory by sneaking in through the basement. I only fought like...maybe 10 guys inside before getting to the guy you have to kill, then snuck out the same way. No need to clear it if you don't want to

Pretty sure you have to assign a settler to your salvage station.

Anyone know what's going on with the textures at this place? Seen a couple of posts about it where people have the same issue, others do not. There is also a lot of z-fighting going on and models here like walls that only have 1 normal face (so when you look behind it, it's invisible). Those textures that are like that, when I walk onto it, I fall a little into the world/ground. Anyone know of a fix maybe?

Had the same issue last night, lol

Which
factory
you guys talking about?

I am having a very hard time understanding base building. I need to connect a transmitter to a power supply. On the top of my screen it shows 10 power in red. To connect it to a generator it requires 10 power, but it wont let me do it.

So after reading the issues with the game, whats the overall experience on the XB1? i know its being reported that PS4 trumps it but what's XBOX GAF say?

Dammit!! LOL thats good to know though, I'm about to watch my buddy stream so I'll give him a heads up on this. I think I know where the entrance to the basement is too

Was looking forward to this but it seems they don't support 1280x1024 resolution.
If I change it per ini the UI becomes weird.... I guess I have to refund......

You might be trying to stretch the cord too long. The cord looks red if it won't reach.

Yeah seems like restarting the game fixed it for me (or it may just be the patch that I downloaded?)

I'm playing it on survival and the weapons like rifles and snipers don't really help much even if you get them early in the game, it's still difficult even with those weapons because of the stats on them, many aren't good. The game is more focused on legendary items/stats than before than simply having a sub-par minigun early. Like a legendary laser rifle with some effects, rare type of item but super useful and helps a lot more than some sub-par laser rifle that I may have gotten earlier. Its randomised special effect/stats etc is where the game's at + modifications on top of those. At least in survival, even the minigun early in the game wasn't of much benefit to me. These are different from unique weapons though, that's a different thing. These are regular weapons but with legendary/specialised effects. To me it seems this is where the game's focus is and I kind of like that.

So, uh, one thing:

Why are there mannequins everywhere?

Also, why are people saying the plot reminds them of
Bioshock 2?

If anything, this plot is an almost direct remake of
Snatcher.

Same premise (
Frozen in a secure vault after an apocalyptic event
), same conflict
(The Institute and their Synths that kidnap and replace real people)
, a few token characters who seem like expies of
Snatcher
characters, and a biggie: Fallout 3 had a handful of very direct references to
Snatcher
and
Policenauts
.

Howard's a
Kojima
fan, I'm sure of it.

Yo new patch for Fallout 4?

Just came out on PC

any news?

edit:
The 1.1.30 Beta is now Live.

1.1.30 Beta Update (PC)
Fixes crash related to xaudio drivers

nvm

I cant seem to get the game to launch :(

On pc and after the splash screen comes up and I press play the screen just goes black.

Anyone got any suggestions on whats wrong? Win 8.1 any help would be appreciated.

Parcelforce messed up my steam controller delivery today too.

Can anyone explain how setting up power works in settlements? Can only 1 wire come out of a generator? does everything have to be daisy chained in a single line or can i branch? Anyone know how to power hanging lightbulbs?

Was trying to setup some indoor lights in sanctuary but running wires over to it does nothing and the wires don't stay. Currently i have a generator, a broadcasting dish and one set of flood lights connected to the dish, not sure what I'm missing to power the house.

Anyone have a PipBoy Edition and a LG G3? Does it fit?

Just curious because it's not much bigger than the Galaxy S5 and if I forgo the foam inserts I'm curious if it would fit.

5.9 user rating on metacritic, and it keeps dropping. Not very good at all, considering fallout 3 has 8.1 and New Vegas has 8.4...

Really might not get this if it's that bad.

User rating on metacritic doesn't mean much. So many skewed ratings on there. People who give it a 1 and write one sentence about why.

6-7 hours in. I'm not really digging it.

Loved F3 when it came out. Loved NV even more now (my favorite Fallout, actually).

The weapon crafting is kinda ruining the loot-game. Not feeling the urban areas at all, they're almost as bland as the worst parts of NV. Exploration feels boring.

Story is your typical Bethesda joint, everything is black and white.

What the hell do I do with the starting points?

I've got no idea.

Can i gimp my build by choosing badly? Or should I just do what I want?

There's no level cap, and you can assign a point into them every level if you want, so technically no, you can't gimp yourself.

I'd just do what you want, frankly. I'm sure others would say different.

i was more focusing on the tonal thing than actual gameplay. its pretty weird to be 2 hours out of the vault and a heavily armed killing machine even if its just cosmetic. in previous games you felt like a futuristic hobo for a pretty long time.

Pretty much how I'm feeling. Finding everything a bit of a chore at the moment and combat still isn't satisfying.
