Yes! Figured out how to use Power in Settlements

Finally can light a bulb.

For the generator to provide power to a portion of the grid, you must also build a power pylon and place it near an area where you plan to place an object that requires power. Hover over the generator and press Attach Wire to connect a wire from the generator to the pylon. The pylon will now provide power to nearby electrical objects, such as lights fixtures. If you are having trouble with lighting, try moving the pylon while it is connected to the generator and place it in various spots near a light fixture to get an idea of the power range. Generators produce a limited amount of power, which is indicated by the lighting bolt symbol under the object.

This. Fucking. Game. You guys.

Possible to make the camera via gamepad smoother and/or disable aim assist? The camera is slightly jittery when looking around. Not smooth. This is w/ v-sync disabled, framerate capped at 60 via RTSS, and g-sync'd.

They really didn't make any improvement on PC what soever. The controls are so fucking clunky, and the first person still feels inferior to an actual shooter. It makes survival so tedious because of how it feels.

? o.o

This is almost the exact opposite I feel about the game. It just feels so much better than FO3, which I've been playing all last week.

I feel like this game has more modding potential than any Bethesda one before.

Things like open buildings, layered clothing, building, modification of weapons and armours...

So much stuff people can mod new and edited items into, so incredibly xciting

remind me (well, at least in previous games, or in this if you know for sure), if you get a quest in a zone that you previously cleared because fucking about is half the fun, will it already be cleared and you can just waltz in and complete the quest?

I want to say yes but not sure. Im "wasting" so much time just screwing around in all these "dungeons" I find, but I cant help it. Finding mags and shit in them is fun

Also, the controls are sooooo damn confusing using kb/m

i'm considering using the X1 controller just to see if it makes it more bareable

I'm a few hours in and I'm really missing the unified Small Weapons skill. I'm having a real hard time choosing between rifles, automatics, and semi auto when I have no idea what weapon I will be finding, and what ammo I will have on hand.

Is plus 80% damage the best you can get, or am I missing something? That really insignificant damage increase over the course or a 80+ hour RPG.

Yes, I did that before. Got a quest to go do something, one of the options was "I've already done that".

Have you guys been rolling with the dialouge camera off or on?

Also PC version question: Is it possible to play this on a sofa completely with a controller? I already had to get up to type in my name.

Only time you need a kb is to type in your name and a mouse to hit start on the launcher.

Okay really really annoys me weapons arent visibly holstered. Pissed me off enough in Skyrim where your dual wielder's second sword disappeared into the ether.

One of the weirdest things that's missing tbh. I'm sure it'll be one of the first mods, but I don't know why it's not there already.

I wonder what game came out today. Haha

I'm not familiar with this series but good luck to you all I hope it's a smooth launch. I may have to check out a trailer considering the hype I am witnessing.

Just found a third building / "dungeon" in a row like 50meters away from each other... I gotta stop lol. 15 hours (according to steam, probably a couple less as usual), I think thats enough for the first day >_>

As expected, like the Souls games, I know what Im gonna get and I love it, truly some of the few series that I can buy blind. Sorry for those having issues tho :/

Yes, I did that before. Got a quest to go do something, one of the options was "I've already done that".

intereresting. I wonder if you went back tho, would the enemies still be dead

Man, I've learned more useful shit from loading screens in this game than any other game I think. If you bump difficulty up you find more legendary weapons. Bumped it up to very hard and in the very next fight somebody dropped a Mighty Hunting Rifle.

Also the perk that directs you to objectives in VATS is so worth it. I was totally lost doing a few of those BOS missions.

I don't really wanna shitpost or anything. Played it for like 7 or 8 hours. I just can't anymore. Everything that was great in New Vegas is non-existent here. And general writing is so bad, MGS seems like a literature masterpiece. Last great Bethesda game was Morrowing with Tribunal and Bloodmoon. Everything after is just trash. yet another legendary series goes into trash for me personally.

Does anyone have the issue where the mousewheel doesn't work inside the pipboy? I have to click the individual tabs to change views...

HOLY SHIT big spoiler for a minutemen quest
you had to retake a building which was destroyed by a creature that rised from the sea one day. I thought this was the usual rpg bullshit about big creatures that never show up, but while retaking the building a huge mirelurk queen rised from the sea and came to the building she was like 2 super mutant behemonths in size and could one shot me with ease, it was a glorious fight took her down after throwing missiles and like 20 grenades at her aswell as the rest of the minutemen shooting her.
This game is awesome!!!

I only made it out with two people surviving that I dont think could die. I think I was severely underpowered for that.

I'm really enjoying the main story, plus the male PC voice actor gets reaaaaaly good when he gets angry lol

He's very good. Heard a lot of talk about him being boring, but of course people are wrong as usual.

My only gripes so far are the mouse/kb controls in the menus, which aren't consistent, and the fact that the regular running speed is too fast in cramped indoor spaces. You also can't use walk, because it's way too slow. Bethesda's walk speed is always totally useless.

Some of the texture-work is also dated, definitely, but overall I'd give the visuals a passing grade. The game really got me when I first walked into Concord and it started raining. Really nice and atmospheric.

Also shout out to the armors. First outfit I found was totally badass.

I don't mean to spam but I want to go shotgun build, is there any perks for shotguns?

there arent any specific type builds, not do I think you can play the game with just 1 weapon. Well, I mean you can... but, well, you shouldnt :p

So i've never played a Fallout game before, but... do I need to bother with the whole Workshop thing and scrapping things? I really cant be arsed with all that.

Playing this game on hard like an FPS is just a frustrating experience. I really, really don't care for the whole settlement aspect either.

1. Map should show your last used PA, so you can always go pick it up later. You can stash it at Sanctuary or Red Rocket, both have the PA rack where you can mod and repair it.

2. Perks generally give you more powerful bonuses, so unless you need to unlock perks that are greyed out, I'd avoid putting too many points into SPECIAL.

3. You can do it later, you can find wild crops or just go liberate some from other farms - it'll only take 4-5 fruit to fulfill that tutorial quest requirement.
Abernathy Farm, south of Sanctuary, has plenty - plus the first trader I found.

4. Stash it into Sanctuary / Red Rocket for now. I've just stashed my extra weapons/armor too since so far I haven't needed the spare parts - can always do that later or sell them for caps.

5. Shield is physical resistance, bolt is energy resistance, nuke sign is radiation resistance. The + signs will popup whenever the item you're looking at has better stats than your currently wielded/worn stuff, but it's not always necessarily the better choice.
With the pace this thread is racing at, I was hoping someone would answer one or two if I was lucky. Here you come as a champ and litterally explains everything super clearly. Have some internet karma points!

wut, i thought this game released on the 11th? haha. I think I might wait for a price drop. But have fun everyone! It looks good so far.

Now that more people are playing this is a good time to ask about builds, I guess. I'm leaning towards a heavy END/INT build because the perks speak to me, but fear that I may end up handicapped in combat. Does anyone have something that would fit my criteria?

- Hack & lock picking (can't handle being locked out)
- Survival (Aquaboy and radiation resistance sounds nice, with adamantium down the line)
- Base building (I like building and Local Leader will help with income from what I've heard)
- Modding awesome gear! (laser route would be cool)
- Not to suck with rifles (weapon of choice)

I plan on playing hard.

This is what I came up with but would like to hear from someone who knows which perks to focus on that work well together in this build.

What are the must have perks so far?

My build:
Strength 4
Perception 6
Endurance 8
Charisma 8
Intelligence 8
Agility 5
Luck 1

Level 15 at the moment, too many choices!

It seems like you're gonna need to be such a high level to make a dent in 2-3 trees, maybe I should have just concentrated on one :(

Built myself a nice little house though which is cool.

play on normal? I find its still challenging since the game throws so many enemies at you with silly accuracy, and leaping ghouls and shit. I dropped it to normal and it feels much better in my opinion.
