Thats what I meant. She runs around with a combat rifle I equipped her with until we get into a fight when she takes out the pistol

Did you give her ammo to go along with it? She didn't start using the automatic pistol I equipped her with until I also put ammo in her inventory.

Swan ended up being pretty easy for me. I came across him wandering the streets while first trying out Valentine as a companion, and then Strong came out of nowhere to join the fight too. Between my sweet combat rifle, two companions, and buildings to duck behind, I pummeled him.

Settlers and companions don't have to worry about ammo, right? I gave my Sanctuary folks some competent guns just in case anyone ever attacks. I need to start [trying to] send unused companions back to my settlement. (Edit: I see people were just discussing this. I keep reading differing things.)

You need to give a companion ammo if you give them a weapon. Only their default weapon uses infinite ammo. Even if Piper for example uses a 10mm default weapon, if you give her a new different 10mm weapon, she still needs ammo. It confused me at first but then I remembered it's the same with Skyrim and companions with arrows it's the same.

I have only used the dog, but this seems like an unfortunate design decision. It leads to a weird disparity between unarmed/melee and ranged companions - the former can be freely upgraded, but upgrading weapons for the latter comes with a huge penalty. I guess I will have to find a super mutant companion with a big hammer ...

Man, the
Silver Shroud
quest was fantastic; easily my favorite one so far (I'm still pretty early).
The Shroud costume, the silver Tommy gun, leaving the calling cards on your targets body's, and especially all the Silver Shroud dialogue options
; soooo good! But dang, was it hard as balls to
save Kent
. It took me like 12 attempts, abd several different strategies. In the end, I was only able to pull it off cause I noticed my Critical bar was full.

I got some issues with Fallout 4 (new dialogue system, frame rate problems, and loading times between locations), but I would be lying if I said I wasn't have a great time. Just wish I had more time to play, but its not 2008 anymore; being an "adult" kind of sucks.

My only explanation is that the article of clothing is locked behind the main story.

Nah, I've seen one on some vendor in one of the big cities and I've only done a few quests in the main story line. Probably just rare, like Skyrim cloth gloves.

Spent most of tonight's session with the Extended Ripper. These things are as crazy as ever in VATS. If you pop a slow time there is pretty much no hope of an enemy holding on to their weapon, you'll either destroy all their limbs or trigger Big League before they can do anything (if they don't get outright obliterated).

Has anyone acquired the unique Ripper? I'm not really clear on how to go about that, though it sounds like a legendary Ripper might be better in the long run.

Wish I could see all the mods >.>

Do you need both the gun nut and science one?
Science! is mostly to unlock mods for Energy Weapons BUT You will need to have at least one Perk onto the Science! Perk even if you only plan to use Ballistic Weapons because there are some Mods that requires something like Gun Nut Rank 2,3,or 4 AND Science! Rank 1.

Imagine how that would work outside of the game.

You get pulled over for speeding.

Cop : Wind down your window please, license and registration.

Me : Hang on a minute........

Cop : Err.......excuse me......what are you doing in the back of the car.

Me : Just give me a minute, I'm trying to find my +1 CHR Militia hat and my.......

Cop : Err.......please put your clothes back on.......

Me : Look, I am just trying to put on my +1 CHR Tuxedo

Me : Ok officer, what's the problem.

Cop : (charmed) No problem, you drive safe now, have a nice day.

Is.. this not normal?

Thanks!

How do you inspect items on a body/container? What button on KB? Also you can't scrap in INV =S.

Anybody have a good building tutorial? Especially dealing with multiple floors and a balcony?

I gave the upgraded Curie a Chinese Officer's Sword and she wrecks with it, switching to default lasers in ranged. Anyone can apparently use a decent melee weapon if they just have hands.

If you just put the melee weapon in the companion's inventory, they will use the best option

if you forcefully equip the melee... it will blow :p
same goes with firearms and ammo

I gave her back her egg what is supposed to happen ?

I killed the one inside the Museum, then took the egg back to the Deathclaw nest. That stops the Deathclaw that is at the nest from attacking you, and it unearths a Deathclaw Gauntlet while burying the egg back in the nest. I don't know what the reward is for taking the egg to the buyer.

In my game Preston uses a shotgun with no ammo.

Anyone know why I can't make gun turrets even though I have plenty of materials? The two settlements I am trying to build has nothing I have built.

Whoa I missed the gauntlet will go back for it!

What gun types have people found succes with for a high agi/luck build for sneak/crits?

A recon scope on anything is good for marking enemies. But my favourite has to be a silenced combat shotgun. There's not much that can survive a sneak attack critical from a shotgun.
