Canadian Gaming "Deals" and Discussion Thread 6: Sorry, We Can't Afford a New Thread

So I wanted to buy Black Ops 3 digitally. What are the odds Sony does a blackfriday say for PSN for the game?

Anyone remember if it happened last year?

Didn't it just release? Personally, I don't see them putting it on sale so fast, especially an Activision game. But I'm speaking from seeing the potential for one of their tiles being put on sale after its released on PC.

An amazon CSR pricematched it for me

EDIT :

And how did you do it? When I tried to price match Xeno based on a screenshot, they jus told me to fuck off.

I pasted his screenshot and said I have an acquaintance that ordered it and was able to apply his E3 discount on Zelda, and I also have an E3 order.

Then she asked if I would like my price changed to, of course I said yes.

She said she would make an exception (lol).

Just be polite, nice and clear.

EDIT: Can someone do me a favour and provide a screenshot of their Xenoblade price? I might try it lol.

I checked last years sale by googling it and setting the range to black friday and it looks like they did discount advanced warfare but only the pro edition by 10 bucks.

So yeah I'm not expecting it lol.

Shoppers has a PS4 with UC Collection for $329. Pretty solid.

Not really $329, since it is regular price with a free $100 gift card.

They were also going fast in my city.

I managed to get the Mario Kart 8 (plus DLC) Wii U bundle for $249. After my $170 Optimum points discount (and $32 in tax) it was $112.

Gonna try tomorrow for that and EOU2. Hopefully I don't get shot down because there's only one store with stock nearby.

If you're for real, I wish you good luck

Thanks! I'm trying this now, lol.

EDIT: Sadness - not possible since this is a price error lol.

Me: No problem
Amazon: I am really sorry we will not be able to price match with other websites.
Me: It was an amazon.ca price
Amazon: I checked and see that the price has not been changed in Amazon.ca website Sora_N.

It's a game that I really want

announced after an e3 but released BEFORE the next e3

fucking hell

these games are the bane of my existence

and the worst part is they're usually Nintendo games or niche publisher games, which is like 90% of what I buy

I hope Nintendo does some eshop deals. I wouldn't mind picking up Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for like $30 to play during the holidays.

Anyone at an EB Games or Bestbuy seen anything to do with the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition here in Canada yet?

Still worried I may just miss it and see it sell out in an hour like it did in the states.

Any chance of a mario maker discount? I've never bought from the eshop before... I assume they don't really do many sales but IDK.

I want to pick up Wii U back titles but I am not spending 85 dollars on NSMB Wii U + Luigi U.

I might consider it a 50 percent off.

I got a second $5 credit from Amazon for Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon not arriving yesterday. I would need like 18 $5 credits to pay for Prime, which is ridiculous.

Picked up the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle from SDM this morning for $249.88. Had been waiting some time for sale, and figured that the bundles are unlikely to get much cheaper in the future, especially with our poor dollar.

Had been hoping to pick up the 3D World bundle (to have a physical copy, because of reasons), but no stores around had it in stock, and I haven't seen one in the wild for some time now. My anecdotal evidence from this morning at 8 AM suggests that the PS4 and Wii U consoles sold out immediately.

Dang, yeah that statement about the consoles going quick was expected. Really wanted to grab a Wii U this wknd but am tied up with family stuff all day today. Oh well!

Namala: Okay. But I am really sorry but we can't offer any additional insight or action on this matter.
:(

Fucking done with this day. First my dog died and I bought a Wii U and 2DS for my relatives but turns out they already have them (which I learnt 2 hours after buying them. Store said it was non-refundable.

What should I do? I was thinking of putting it up on Kijiji for $240, or $300 with 2DS. Is that reasonable?

why is the store saying its non-refundable? was it open?

No I went to SDM and since it was on sale and they said that it wasn't refundable even if not opened. I just want to not take a huge loss on getting rid of them.

Anyone interested in a cheap brand new Wii U or 2DS? Lol.....

Did you open them? It should be refundable if still sealed, which store is it?

Edit: I saw your answer after posting...and yes it is a reasonable price.

Did the cashier at SDM make it clear to you that the sale is final when you first bought it?

Here's Shoppers' return policy. While they do reserve the right to refuse or limit returns (under Important Notes), things like items being final sale should've been made clear to you from the point of sale to begin with.

Otherwise, you can just try another Shoppers.

Yeah, SDM doesn't take any returns for electronics. It's a weird policy. Sorry bro...

Oh they must have updated it, because here's what the page linked above says:
"Returns will only be given if original product is returned in the original sealed box in saleable condition with a receipt and within the 30 day return period from original date of purchase"

Maybe it's because it's a sale price.

damn i didn't think they'd restrict sale items. just wondering, does SDM let you return items to another location? also, have you considered contacting them on twitter or email to see if sale items are not returnable?

http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/refunds

I was looking at it and even though items on sale are not mentioned as exception (clearance items are), they do mention that other exclusions may apply

Yeah I asked the clerk and talked to the manager on staff. Told me it's policy for on sale electronics or something like that.

Seriously not sure what to do with them now. I already have a new 3DS XL and a Wii U. My friend said to Kijiji them since it's safer against scams. Never sold anything through Kijiji or eBay, only bought. And what sounds like a reasonable price?

The waiver they make you sign says Nintendo products can be returned in sealed condition. Check your receipt. A portion of the waiver was attached to my Wii U receipt.

SDM said that about my PS4 when I bought it during a sale. Was super weird. I feel like it was a misunderstanding of the promo or how video game returls work (not returnable if open).

My experience with Kijiji:

Random Buyer: "Is this still for sale?"
Me: "Yes it is".

You get a ton of "window shoppers" with no responses. Kijiji is extremely frustrating to sell on.

Good luck!
