Don't forget that some PS2 classics will cost $9.99, like Twisted Metal Black. It seems that is being ignored by some.
Same thing i said applies lol swap microsoft for Nintendo.OK, forget about Microsoft, then.
Is that the same fee that Nintendo charges when previously purchased downloadable Wii games are played on Wii U?
Whatever fee Nintendo charges in this situation is what Sony should be aiming to match to carry over previously purchased downloadable PS2 games to PS4. Not a penny more.
No.15$....Only for resolution difference ?
LOL
.Also, you will be able to experience all of these PS2 games like never before in up-rendered 1080p with the features you expect from a PS4 game including Remote Play, Live Broadcast, Share Play, Activity Feeds, and Second Screen support for game manuals with PlayStation Vita or PlayStation App.
So barebone trophy lists with no plats?
That was the only reason I'd consider these over disk versions and they fucked it up.
.Regarding Platinum trophies:

Would this open up the opportunity for Persona 4 to be released as an uprezzed PS2 game around when Persona 5 comes out? It'd be nice for people who don't have a Vita to play a higher quality version of it.
Maybe read the op?15$....Only for resolution difference ?
LOL
Don't expect Square to use this, remasters make too much money.
Why are you pretending everyones played the same game they're going to buy. I havent bought any ps2 classics or have any disks so this is a welcome addition. I understand the pain of people who do have ps2 disks and bought classics.
Also guys plz dont shit this thread up as well. Theres already a thread dedicated to shouting at sony. Id rather talk about the titles here.
>.>
But you can use Wii discs if you'd prefer.
This is a really shitty way of putting PS2 games on PS4. They got away from large audience boos by revealing this on the blog instead. I bet that wasn't the case before the backlash yesterday.

Keep in mind that not everybody has those games before, I own maybe only 1 of them and I MIGHTIt still doesn't justify the price. You're basically running the same game on newer hardware that you already bought. It's like flipping Valve another $5 just because I bought a new machine to run Portal on?
There's nothing stopping you from running Wii discs on the Wii U for much cheaper.
No.

It could definitely happen. The PS2 version is up on PS3, after all, so I could see them bringing a PS4 version over!

Again no.Uhu, yes?
Those features come from the EMULATOR. They didn't touch the game at ALL.
They also explained how trophy system works in their patent thing.
Res and fps bump come from the software, so yes, you are paying for the software, other things are from the operative system of PS4.
It's just like playing an emulator on PC and paying for the alt+tab feature or to record your play: the iso is still the same, features come from OS or the emulator used.
Really? I'm not so sure. To make a remaster you NEED to spend some money, in the case of FFX/X-2 they reworked the OST. At this point SE could just throw FFXII on PSN with trophy support, asking 20€ for it (yeah, I expect 20€ titles too): it will cost SE NOTHING and it will generate maximum profit.
Because they applied graphical and performance improvements to them.
PS3's PS2 emulator would run the game as 1:1 as possible.
So if a game ran at 30 FPS, it'd run at 30 FPS if played using the PS3 emulator.
The PS4 releases will have performance and graphical improvements and that's why it's $5 higher.
I don't need graphical enhancements or 1080p; just give me the gd original games at a decent price, and honor the money I already invested in PSN titles. $15 for PS2 titles that probably won't transfer to the PS5 is unacceptable.
But Sony are providing the use of said ISO on their system. They're the ones who call the shots, I see this as how Ninty handles discounts for their own titles on 3DS or Wii U. If NintyGAF gotta deal with that, I find what Sonty's doing to not be that much of a big deal.Uhu, yes?

Oh yeah both Summoner games as well.
This is getting patheticAs recently as six months ago, if someone would have said that Microsoft would enable Xbox One owners to play some of their previously purchased Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One at no additional cost, he probably would've been laughed out of the room.
If he then immediately followed that by predicting that Sony would charge PlayStation 4 owners a $10-$15 fee to play some of their previously purchased downloadable PS2 games on the PS4, he certainly would've been laughed out of the room.
How times have changed.
Whoa...i never thought about that..hmm is that possible in a way?hm i would buy valkyrie profile 2 or grandia 3. imagine if they decide to make limited print retail titles out of some titles, yummy.
i don't think i'd be able to resist.

You trying to prove my point with those no-AA stills?
Whoa...i never thought about that..hmm is that possible in a way?
Would buy both of these games.
Both of them were pretty gorgeous games at the time too.
Spoiler for Grandia 3:
Just wish the mom stayed with the group in Grandia 3, I liked the other characters but even after all this time I still remember she was the best character lol.
Yeah well others want them, and this is the reality of the situation atm: If you want a PS2 classic so you can play on your PS4, Sony are offering such titles as digitally for $10-$15.
Which is the same price range of PS2 releases on US PSN on the PS3.
But hey y'all can cry and puff up your cheeks, I'm droppin' $100 for dat Level 5 RPG goodness, TM Black and War of the monsters if it comes to it.
Really have you even PLAYED a PS2 classic via the PS3 lately? Have you really?
Does the Wii Emulator in the Wii U offer them? I don't own a Wii U mind you.
Their competition released backwards compatibility for. Free. Sony is dominating the console market. And riding their high "4thegamers" high horse throughout this generation. They could AT LEAST allow people to play their digitally bought ps2 games at their original framerate and resolution for free on their ps4.
But guess what? Then people would realize what a bad deal paying $15 bucks for games that came out almost 15 years ago simply at a higher (and not even full 1080p) resolution really is. And it would cut into their profit. So you know what? Yeah fuck whoever decided to do it this way. They literally saw their competition do it the right way. And I doubt it was cheap for Microsoft to do. Hell it probably cost more as the 360 games are more demanding that ps2 games
Then get them on sale you don't have to get them day 1. I'm getting them day 1 cuz I don't mind the price and because I don't own some of those titles, or rather mostNot 'crying' at all, I just refuse to pay those prices and believe it's in poor form to not give some credit/benefit to customers who already bought-in to PS2 titles. I guess we'll see what the market will bear on the prices they've set.
Yes. Though at the moment I'm playing Persona 3 FES (disc) on my OG PS3. I'd love to get rid of the PS3 and get back to one console in the living room, but looks like that won't be happening any time soon.
I have been wanting to replay Mark of Kri for a long time. Awesome.
No.
.
Customizable Controls
Save States (In addition to 'you left off here' states)
Miiverse Support (includes posting screens)
Native Off-TV Play (Wii mode offers it but you need a separate controller)
Upgrade fees are dependent on the system, but range from $1 to $2 after you do a Wii > Wii U transfer, and PRESUMABLY (this is me talking) it creates a flag for your account, which is extremely important.
Now if you don't want to upgrade you can still go into Wii Mode and play them as is. But in Wii Mode they fixed the stretching issues which the Wii had with VC games, requiring you to un-stretch them on your TV.
FYI Digital Wii VC on Wii U are priced $15-20 and I am of the understanding that they don't offer any graphical or performance improvements.
