Final Fantasy VII PS4 |OT| One last time before the remake

This is the 4th time I've bought this game (PS1, PS1 classic, Steam and PS4).

The L3/R3 button additions make this the best version for me. I love the game, but midgar is such a slog to get through.

can anyone tell me if the audio is the HORRID PC midi version ... or if it's the legit PS1 Midi soundtrack? ... that's probably going to make or break it for me
 
This story is even better than I remembered, just made it to
Junon Disc 2

This remake is going to be ridiculous, and I really hope it can draw a lot of new fans into Final Fantasy.

Haven't replayed it yet, but doesn't Midgard have a ton of gates into the city on all sides?

As far as what's the behind the gate, looks kind of like a truck yard? Maybe a military tank yard?
 
guys, c'mon. that gate leads to the sector 5 slums and the church. those are piles of trash.

also the highway likely just ends because midgar is in a constant state of expansion. there are a lot of inconsistencies in its scale and presentation but it's still pretty clear how everything fits together.

edit - you can see what seems to be the foundation for expansion of the plate around the edges under construction:

The First time I went to Gold Saucer, I did that trick to see who has the highest affection by not picking anyone... Aeris tagged along...FUCK

According to GameFAQs, based on my choices, the affection points were at Aeris 34, Barrett 37 and Tifa 37. Literally makes no sense. I just got another +6 for Barett based on some dialogue at Cosmo Canyon. I really don't want to run this all over again, I wonder if I can find a copy of a save somewhere if I don't get it.

The boost is only for battles. Gives you full health and keeps your limit bar full. So pretty easy as long as you dont get one shot lol (which can happen from them)

PC version hadn't had that midi crap in years. This is ps1 soundtrack, but music restarts after each battle rather than continuing where it left off. No midi though so you are safe there.
 
I mean, it really makes no sense that he would chance the Clones delivering him the Black Materia when they are all horrible losers that he himself strikes down on Gaea's Cliff. Why not just use Jenova to get the materia and bring it to him directly?

Its by far one of the most conceptually complex cities in any game.

They're gonna have a tough time convincingly implementing this in the remake.

Ah right. It's been a while. So was there only one "Cloud" in the game or were there two? One that was created from Tifas memories and the real one?

the septhiroth that you chase for the first half of the game IS jenova acting on sephiroth's will, and it DID get the black materia to bring it directly to him. cloud just manages to catch up and kill it to get the materia back, but ends up delivering it anyway because he has jenova's cells and can still be manipulated.

the 'clones' and the whole reunion thing was mostly just a side effect of the plan that happened when jenova's main body became active and the cells started following it around trying to reunite.

The real Sephiroth is the one you deliver the black materia to. You have been following Jenova the entire game.

Only one Cloud. The experiments fucked with his mind since he was weak (he never was strong enough to join SOLDIER) and he pretended to be Zack in those select memories for awhile there until Tifa eventually helped him out (Cloud was there the whole time so the memories are kinda his...just he substituted himself in for Zack). Could could have easily been just another failed experiment dude in a black cloak but Zack helped him escape Hojo's experiments.
 
So I brought my PS4 with me to Vegas (yep) and finally bought this.

Hnng. What a gem. Looks phenomenal now. And that PS4 theme, holy.

The Sephiroth we see throughout the game is the Jenova body that was stored inside the Shinra Building, shapeshifted into Sephiroth. Every time you reach it, it rips off parts of his body for you to fight with.

Afaik, we never see the real Sephiroth except in flashbacks until the very end of the game when cloud omnislashes him. Every other time we see Seph, it is the shapeshifted Jenova being controlled by Sephiroth in the lifestream

It broke itself out.

Jenova is dead. She/it has no mind of its own. Sephiroth began controlling the pieces from his location at the Northern Crater. He awoke the main body of Jenova at the Shinra HQ, broke it out of the capsule, shapeshifted it into an image of himself, killed President Shinra and began moving towards the Northern Crater.

Ended up buying this but the theme was a bit disappointing after all the hype. Like many themes the text and icons are hard to see due to the backgrounds.
 
Sound at 100% is really loud in this game. Ended up turning it down all the way to 10/10 to get it at a normal listening volume that matched my other games. Weird.
 
I'm at Corneo's mansion trying to get Cloud to do his thing. But even with all items except one of the optional ones, someone else gets picked? I thought it was a guaranteed thing :/

damn, reading these issues, i think im just gonna go back to playing this on Vita instead as well...

another part where i believe music incorrectly plays is where
Shinra blows the pillar to collapse on the sector and the party swings away
. Could have sworn there was no music playing during that cinematic before... just carnage and eventually screams...
