Man, I'm not even ready to think about Episode VIII right now.

Rogue

Fucking

One

Everything ive seen from it...including some set pics (I dont care about spoilers for non saga films, bring them on) looks incredible.

Finished my Clones rewatch. It's still a real shame Anakin and Padme's scenes don't match the brilliance of Across The Stars. I still like most of the the Kamino and Tatooine scenes, Geonosis less so.

Was thinking about this on my walk today in regards episode 8, just pure fun speculation

So they keep saying Kylo thinks in his head he is right, but he is also unstable, emotional, not a calculating villain but one who acts on instinct. I wondered whether if this character realised he was on the wrong side how cool his transformation could be from "Villain (per se)" to Hero in episode 9 and perhaps Rey goes from Hero to Villain, would be an interesting take on the franchise if they gave us this then switched the roles over.

Every time I see Finn I can't help but think how well casted he was, you can tell by watching the trailers specially the Chinese one that he is all in with his acting and character.

I can't wait to see how Kylo reacts when/if he finds out Vader betrayed the Emperor to protect his son, the last of the Jedi.

My early thoughts after I heard this line was that he was trying to seek out Luke to turn him the way his Father intended.

Btw, if anyone's too lazy to do a rewatch but still wanna get hyped, here are a pair of damn great recap videos.
Prequels
Originals

Originals one reminds me of why I love the last Battle over the death star, I actually love it more than the trench run, the pacing is phenominal.

Time until Aiii gets to see SW ep.7:

It's so close now. I can smell the light sabers.

No, I give HP that point.

Avatar felt like a chain reaction of "omg you should totally go see it" rather than an event. At least, that's what I remember.

Was it really though? I don't quite remember the hype like this

I remember it being an event of sorts. Lines were incredibly long and people REALLY wanted to see what all the 3D would be about since that film relied on it. Granted, I don't think Avatar lived up to the hype where I think Episode VII will.

Avatar was also the next film from James Cameron too, the director of Titanic, Terminator, and Aliens. That was major in attracting fans of both action and romance which meant the target audience was a lot bigger.

Avengers was pretty mad

I actually forgot about Avengers, but I would say it was an event movie. It was the first time all these major heroes from other films converged into one. Avengers: AoU was a lot more tepid in comparison because we saw them all together before so the second time wasn't as special (which meant that AoU would have to be a good film on its own merits).

Every time there is a big IMAX movie the Henry Ford continues to disappoint the shit out of me by not showing one (Star Wars/Hateful Eight/The Revenant). I think the last time they showed an actual movie was for Interstellar. :(

Really? Always seemed like every major IMAX release was on the Henry Ford? Even so, they weren't one of the few originally chosen for The Hateful Eight. It was a couple of AMCs like the one in Livonia along with a MJR theater but again this might of changed since the theater count got cut down.

I'm actually quite psyched for the showing Thursday and it being sold out because the atmosphere there should be fucking awesome and apparently a couple or few gaffers will be there too. When the theater is full and in to it, it just makes the experience that more memorable especially like the times I saw Pirates of the Caribbean, LOTR: Return of the King or Avatar.

Although if anyone there starts shouting or dropping spoilers they're going to get fucking dropped. lol

I think the movie was written and directed before the merchandise became popular :P

Oh no doubt but looking at his character design and his saber I think it would be a waste to do away with him in one movie. Even from the conceptual stages.

I think he's our Vader. he'll be in at least two movies and maybe all 3.

The existence of Snoke makes me think that Kylo could certainly die in this film, Im leaning toward thinking that but I hope he doesnt, if he does though I have faith they will make it worthy.

Which theater are you going to that will have a couple of gaffers there?

The original OT retrospective video was better, but it got hit with a copyright notice for the audio so he had to take it down. He put it back up on Vimeo though: https://vimeo.com/119564140

I remember the original version but that one is actually still a bit different from that original upload. There were a lot more prequel inserts the first time and he also altered the photo-filter for this one.

But yeah, this is pretty much the original version of the recap all-in-all.

Protip: listen to the music of that scene, then listen to the Emperor's theme.

Protip 2: There's actually an after credits easter egg in Episode I
That first part gave me serious chills when I finally heard it. There's a lot to detract from ole Georgie and the prequels, but he nailed all of Palpatine's scenes. There's actually a tonnnn of subtlety like the ending music number in Episode I.

Hey is anyone from Lafayette GAF in this thread?
Since the theater has just reopened - as a reminder to others, it's the one that had the shooting incident over the summer - I'm wondering if any of y'all are going to it on opening night Thursday. It'd be fun to hang out a bit while waiting outside or whatever, so lemme know.

During the ceremony or the actual ending credits?

It's during the ceremony.. it's Palpatine's dark and choral motif sped up and inverted into a festive chorus. Really ominous considering that it's such a joyous and happy moment in the series, clearly a foreshadowing of what is to come.

The Chinese one is actually the best one.

Wow, you know you've made it when someone on Neogaf links to your Youtube page. TSG represent!

Eh, the TSG link is just a fuzzy rip and re-upload of the original.

If you want to see the Chinese trailer in HQ, hit up the original YT link.

Remember folks, just because someone tags "Exclusive" on a YT video doesn't mean they are the original source.

Rave Cinema 20+IMAX in Ann Arbor. Got tickets for the 7pm Thursday IMAX showing.
Ah yeah there are quite a few Gaffers in the AA area. I'll be dragging myself to Sterling Heights for the Marathon but no IMAX sadly. Will save that for the second viewing I suppose.

People going to a theater without reserved seating how early are you going?

I'm going at least an hour before. I'll be going to the 7:30 showing on Friday. I feel a lot of the die hards in my town will catch the midnight showing and earlier showings on friday.

I feel around 7:30 is when more of your average movie goer will be seeing this movie, add to that the die hards as well....I'm not taking any chances.
