Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Steam pre-order is LIVE

How is the wizard class in this game? Spells look awesome so I was thinking of going that route.

And also how is the dungeon design? Are they thoughtful / well designed areas sort of like a Souls game or are they more just random / copy and pasted modular dungeons without discernible purpose?

Two pure magic classes in this game(There are also two hybrid magic classes like the magic knight and magic archer). Mage and Wizzard(advanced class). Mage has some pretty nice offensive spells, but it shines in support and healing spells. Wizard class has awesomely devastating spells, but they take awhile to cast, so you'll need decent pawns to keep enemies off of you while you cast. It doesn't have healing spells, but it does have support spells that can be used to infuse your allies weapons with elemental damage buffs(mage has this spell, but it's not as powerful) among other things.

And by awesomely devastating spells, I mean stuff like calling down meteors(not just giant fireballs, but literal meteors) and summoning tornadoes.

As for dungeon design, it varies. Some dungeons are really well laid out, some feel haphazard, none are copy and pasted modular dungeons without discernible purpose. The best dungeons in the game are in the Dark Arisen expansion area, though.

This was one of my favorite spell against the Hydra: https://gfycat.com/AdmiredEcstaticBarnowl
And another one against the Ogre: http://gfycat.com/ExhaustedBraveBeetle

During your play through as a Wizard. Make sure to try four pawn High Bolide with spell sync. It looks awesome, and it's really fun to use against enemies.

How is magic archer? That sounds rad and like it might be the route I go.
probably my favorite class, has pretty much everything I want all in one awesome package. Daggers for roll, double jump, instant reset, hundred kisses, etc, and then the awesome magic bow for ranged and magic attacks.

Also, you can set yourself on fire.

Top to bottom, that sounds perfect. Thanks .

I just hope that a mod will be made to remove the primary and secondary classifications on weapons. That way I can finally have the magic rogue I've always wanted.

I can't really see how that would be possible because of the way secondary weapons work, I can see class equipment restrictions being removed though so any class can use any primary or secondary weapon type...unless that is what you meant?

edit: yeah thats probably what you meant, I read it as being able to use secondary weapons as primary and vice versa originally...lol

Is there any legit way to unlock early with a steam preload? Obviously bought the game and see multiple people playing it. I assume that is all through piracy? Man I just want to play!

If this is getting an Australian release, you could always VPN to unlock a day early.

Basically, they can't provide any official modding tools, but other MT framework games like Street Fighter IV and DMC4 were pretty extensively modded. Hopefully, the old tools still work.
Were the mods for those games limited to simple texture and model replacements, or could you modify scripts and/or other game logic?

They really should, I have multiple friends who just downloaded a crack and am playing with their purchased steam pre load. I just don't want to do that, just against my morals

As per usual, legit customers get screwed and pirates win. Digital release dates are screwy, if the game is out there already just unlock it.

There are some pretty insane mods for SFIV. Look up SFIV Remix, which I would totally link if I wasn't on my phone.

Capcom just release the game now.

Don't give people the temptation to pirate.

It's just PC dawg, no one important'll even notice.

Be cool, Capcom.

Come on, be cool. >_>

Is there much of an issue if I start on Magick Archer as soon as I hit Gran Soren? The first time I played DD I tried to min/max things, so I went Strider/Ranger for NG (for stamina) and Sorcerer for NG+ (for magic) in preparation for Magick Archer but felt done by the time I got to NG++ and had finished the BBI content one time through so I never really tried Magick Archer.

There's no real point in mix maxing, and the MA stats growth is fine really. On my solo playthrough I played mostly magick archer, switched as soon as I hit Gran Soren and only switched to Mystic Knight and back at some point to mess around. Don't play classes you don't want to play just for stats growth, it'll just burn you out for no reason. At the very least wait until you're at the afk farm spot near the end of the game, then you can just afk to 200 on whatever class you want the stats for if you really want. At 200 though nothing is really interesting, so again seems fairly pointless.

Game looks fugly.

That's about what I figured. I wanted to play those classes anyway so I never minded, and I had a blast the whole time I played it back then (and later did it all again on PS3). I remember going in thinking that the level cap is 200 so do this class for this long and then this class, then MA until 200, then realizing when I was starting NG++ that I had vastly underestimated the level progression relative to doing everything in the game.

Definitely going to go straight Magick Archer this time around, no reason not to at this point.
