Batman v Superman - New Clip

I think it's a tone issue really. Marvel films are a part of a big, well oiled machine but at their core they achieve a remarkable balance between having authentic heart, not taking themselves too seriously, but being serious about the world they're playing in. these new dc movies are just so brooding and serious. So when there is an issue like a bit of wonky acting by cavil then the whole thing falls apart. You just don't accept it and it looks like fanfic.
 
Not sure if Batman is supposed to be scary in this one, it reminds me of when a four year old days "we aren't friends anymore" when they get punished. It's aost laughable.

Most people in this thread seem down on this clip, but I'm not sure why people are rolling their eyes and sighing. Its the most annoying part of these threads - BVS fans assuming that people are trolling their movie for no reason.

Well - if you think the majority of people in a thread have an opinion based out of some weird fanboy bias, then I have no idea what to tell you. Why should the thread be positive? If most people think it looks dumb... then what? Its not like the first movie was great - it was pretty mediocre to terrible. Its not like Snyder has a good track record? Like... I'm not sure what positivity should be here given what we've seen if we just don't like it?

I think its awesome that people like stuff. Go ahead and like it, I'm not out here trying to change your opinion if you like what they've shown from this movie, and I"m not out here calling you a shill if you like it either. So why is the opposite the case?

Everyone has a bias. It's human nature. You can see it outside of just Marvel/DC stuff. Go look at any Avatar thread recently where people bring up Star Wars and the box office, the only difference there is that people actually go in depth and discuss what they don't like and didn't like for the most part (aside from the "lol Pocahontas" shit posts). There are plenty of people in this forum who want to see things fail, simply because its competing with "their" product. Another example would be the NPD threads for October/Nov where people were actively wanting Halo and Tomb Raider to bomb. It happens.
People call others out for trolling because many will just post the same regurgitated comments with no actual opinion whatsoever or something meant to illicit a response, and just never come back. Those who don't like what they see and actually contribute to the discussion (such as yourself and Alienous) aren't the type who are upsetting others.

Also plenty of pepole liked Man of Steel as well as most Snyder movies, so that's probably where the excitement is coming ftom
 
Love the beginning of that clip: even though he has a mask on, you just see that Batman is kinda scared facing this God. But as soon as the doors are ripped off, he recovers and just stands up to him. Love the imagery there. The score is gonna be awesome too, March can't come soon enough.
 
Cavill is a very poor actor. He is bad in everything unfortunately.

Batman doesn't look pissed off enough, maybe not rising to it, weird looking though.

Would be cool, I just hope is going to use that amazing rogue gallery of Batman. I want The Riddler, Deathstroke etc. Joker for the last movie of the trilogy, don't need him in the first two.
 
Absolutely love how Superman schooled Batman.

What I like is that this is something Supes would actually do. He looks at Batman as a vigilante that instills fear rather than inspire hope. He would make a play to get him off the street. That scene was basically Supes saying, "This is your first and only warning."

I really hope they do a good job of also showing how Superman is completely different than Batman in how he solves problems.

Great scene. Can't wait.

I think outside of a handful of posters who have nothing better to do no one wants it to fail, or at least nobody cares enough to want that.

In his defence he could probably pull off a John Cena Superman well.

The "don't mess with me" Supes doesn't seem convincing. In Man of Steel, when he spikes the drone, I think he did a good job of maintaining a John Cena level "leave me alone", but in this clip it's not clicking.

The scowl looks more like holding back a laugh. There's no confidence. The screen presence just isn't there, and Superman needs that.
 
Henry is a crappy actor, surprised people are now just realizing it. He gets by with his looks.

Ben is a better actor. Ben..

Gal and Jesse are going to carry this film.

I honestly don't think Cavill's delivery was that bad.

What kills it for me is Affleck's blinking in the middle of "tell me... do you bleed?".
 
Whats with the robot voice ? I don't particularly mind it, I just don't understand why it's there when hes not in a mouth covering suit.

I guess the movie thing will be that it's a gadget to hide his real voice. Still weird when hes just talking.

This is what I get from it. Cavill isn't trying to be intimidating. He's Clark Kent trying to act intimidating behind his Superman persona, but Clark is generally a good guy so it's difficult for him. He gets by with usually just saying those things and his persona alone intimidates criminals etc.

He tries it with Batman, and Batman basically spits back in his face which confuses Clark.

You know, that kind of works.

Instead of seeing Cavill's bad acting I can think of it as Superman, a generally good-natured guy, giving his best attempt at intimidating Batman.

The opening with the batmobile boinking against Superman like a toy car as epic music plays is hilarious.

And yeah, that Superman line reading is no bueno.

Edit: Oh shit, I should probably say something positive so DCmovieGAF doesn't start calling me a DC hater. Um... I liked the Batman voice?

Oh I feel petty for them then. I could only sit through Watchmen and that was mostly because of the source material. Snyder is a really bad director and I can't believe WB got him to do BvS and cast Ben Affleck to ACT as Batman, the same Ben Affleck that since 2006 has been acclaimed not just as a great director that came out of nowhere for most but also as a consistently good one or even consistently great one. Is like having Nolan available to direct your movies and say "fuck it lets give this project to Brett Ratner!".

Something we need more. Your post adds nothing and those posts are the reason people hate these BvS threads.

Not so much the acting being bad but that the put-on unconvincing toughness actually kind of suits Superman when you watch it and attribute that to Superman instead of Cavill. Try it.

I've written long posts in this thread. Not every short post is an attack or throw away troll. That argument, to me, doesn't work on its face, didn't think it needed more.

It's a 20 second clip, not sure what kind of in depth reactions are needed outside of our gut reactions.
 
Yeah not a fan of Cavill's delivery. Maybe you could make an argument that this superman isn't really used to making threats, so that's why it sounds so half-assed, but I admit that this is wishful thinking.

Affleck has taken a huge role in how the movie shapes up. He got Goyer kicked off the film as well. Snyder also isn't a bad direction. His movies look great, his camera work is superb, and they feel extremely grounded regardless of the source material.
