Batman v Superman - New Clip

The dialogue sounds great to me. Lines that are instantly memorable is what you want in these movies.

Tell me, do you bleed?

The ____ is dead, bury it.

If I wanted it, you'd be dead already.

Devils don't come from hell beneath us, they come from the sky.

Freaks dressed like clowns.

That's how it starts... The fever, the rage...

All lines that stick from just a few clips of footage. It's Terrio da gawd now.
If that's the context it still bothers me, Batman wouldn't say anything in that situation. Just stare him down. I feel like it's against his character to make stupid threats that at the moment he can't even begin to back up.

He's told to stand down and ignore the bat signal, consider it mercy, and he'd say nothing? I doubt that. Keep in mind this is an unhinged Batman that's probably just about ready to die.
Wtf? One is an empty threat and another is a realistic desire. Terrible comparison.

Will it still be empty when he busts Clark shit open later in the movie?

Everything you quoted is awful in my opinion. My prior post applies to all of that.

Reminds me of quite a few comics I read when Batman and Superman first meet or don't like each other. An animated video or two as well.

So yeah I liked it.

People are so nitpicky. Really guys. Half the comments in here just seems like parody at this point. :P

Nothing is real anymore

The dialogue is fine, and in line with every other superhero movie in terms of "corniness". The black crush, on the other hand, really makes the Batman costume look bad in the one shot. They need to tighten that in post.

The Batman line is 100% not an empty threat as seen in the trailers you can see him beating the shit out of Superman and actually making him bleed.

https://youtu.be/fis-9Zqu2Ro

(Freeze frame at 2:00 when Batman has Superman to the wall)

If you think it's an empty threat then you are just hating to hate.

It's still a cheesy line though.

I think people only see it as an empty threat because it's a 20 second clip cut from the movie void of any tension

I feel simultaneously excited and trepidatious when I think of this movie. It seems half of what I've seen is exciting and hype inducing, and the other half feels corny and cringe worthy. I will definitely see it though. I'll be very interested to see how they handle the fight(s) between Superman and Batman. I'm of the camp that believes there's no universe where Batman beats Superman excepting through a contrived use of having Superman's intrinsic nobility essentially letting Batman win.

Or if Krypton is involved which certainly seems to be the case.

You sound like you care way more about not seeing the movie than anyone would about getting you to see it. Haha, I swear some of you sound like you are just a joy to be around.
I watched the snippet from Conan because this movie piqued my curiosity (as did Man of Steel, but I never saw it). Superman was a beloved character of my childhood. I watched the clip and thought it was awful, and boom, here's a GAF thread about it to comment in. I got roped into seeing X-Men Origins: Wolverine a few years back and I'm still angry about it because it was as bad as the trailers made it look.

That is offensively terrible dialogue? Damn, you probably don't like a lot of movies then. Certainly no comicbook movies, none.
I enjoy film. I will admit, I do not profess to be a fan of "comicbook" movies.

Ok. Talk to me like a 5 year old.

Why is the dialogue terribly offensive? What would better fit the scene considering the context of what happens before or after?
I don't have the context of the scene. I'm vaguely familiar with the characters and it just comes off as juvenile. If you want me to believe that these two characters are at odds, you have to do some clever writing, and when they engage in discourse, I want it to be more than chest-thumping bullshit. "The bat is dead," said Superman to Batman. Give me a fucking break. It's bad fan-fiction. I'd rather watch James Hetfield wrestle with his desire to play on stage with Sonic and his friends.

I am more interested in that Bruce and Clark face off.

"What do you think about this Bat character?"

"Don't believe everything you hear son..."

Damn Bruce SONNED Clark!

Well maybe it's just my upbringing but as they say, "Silence is compliance".

Your fandom for this movie is reaching a weird place man, not even sure where this discussion is going. I posted my opinion, others posted theirs- thats how a forum works.

What fandom? This current conversation doesn't have anything to do with the movie.

Haha, sure it is.

Haha just to not have this confused, I think the line is fine, but that comparison didn't make sense.

Cavil's delivery is so stiff.
The music picking up when Superman looks over his shoulder was laughable bad. It honestly made me chuckle.
I think the downside to the shots with Batman is not being able to see the outline of his nose. That one meme is pretty dead on.
I don't mind the voice modulation and it would totally make since if not for a world that can't figure out Superman's identify with the removal of his glasses. This point is nitpicking though.

Note that, and we really shouldn't have to say this with every thread, this is just an impression of this clip only. I really do hope that the final movie will be great. It's just that this clip didn't help inspire any confidence in it.

As a concept I hate super crazy, unhinged Batman. It's absolutely against the character. Give me cold, calculated Batman and not"I don't care if I live or die" batman

Will it still be empty when he busts Clark shit open later in the movie?

Lets be real here, he won't, the fight will end with them agreeing on something or teaming up or some other way. No one is going to "win" this fight and nothing even hints at Superman taking any damage.

I'll reiterate that I think it's just the execution. There are plenty of amazing scenes in film with lines that are much more corny than the one in the clip.

Yeah, although we always thought this is Batman calling out Supes, right ?

Yeah, but folks did find it weird that he was calling out Superman using his own signal device

It's like calling your phone to shout at your girlfriend's secret boy... anyhow!

But now we know specifically why he chose the route he did

Truthfully the only thing I've hated from these recent clips are Batfleck's unflattering angles and Supes' dialogue. Other than that, I'm still game. It's about time that Batman has stubble on-screen.

Wow. Just wow. The 3 of you are basically children. Congratulations.

Well maybe it's just my upbringing but as they say, "Silence is compliance".
You can't tell me that this wasn't all typed out with the smug-est of grins.

Superman gonna get dis work. Best believe that.
My dude. He's going to get smacked with that dirty Gotham water.

If anything this clip has made that second trailer even more awesome. The back and forth with Clark and Bruce do they know each other secret identity at that point of the movie?

Also Batman ratcheting up his war with Superman, lighting his ass up with the batplane, turning on the batlight in defiance of Supermans threats and coming prepared no doubt with some kryptonite to beat his ass down as much as can.

Also can not believe (Actually I can) we have a 15 page thread for a 30 sec clip of dialogue. Hahah my gawd.

Of course they know, Clark has X-ray vision and Bruce saw his face. But whatever, the Bat-wank is getting strong in this thread. Basically why I've been avoiding this movie in general. I'm out.

The appearance of Doomsday and Superwoman killed my hype for the movie. I was hoping not to see Batman and Superman working together in Batman vs Superman. Also fuck Tween Lex.

Superman - Meet me somewhere, motherfucker.

Batman - NO NO YOU MEET ME SOMEWHERE MUTHA FUCKA!

Superman - Gimme a fuckin' address, ho.

Haha right. I must say I thought this movie looked dumb before, but this clip has me slightly intrigued. I dig the edgy Batman style, seems very much how the character would react to something like Superman.

Yeah, I guess I lied and I am back, just wanted to say the actor playing Lex is 32. The same age as Superman and a much better actor.

I'm not a writer, I don't have to have a "better" scene written to criticize it. If you want a comparison though, it strikes me as something that was written by someone who almost exclusively watches anime supercuts on youtube set to Linkin Park.

"Do you bleed? You will"? I mean.... its trying so hard to be badass that it just is corny to me.

You can counter with motivations or the scene or whatever else reason you enjoy it- but for me, the execution is off. To pull off dialogue like that, the tone and framing has to be perfect, and this isn't doing it for me.

couldn't agree with you more. I don't think it's even true to the character (batman).

I'm betting on lots of:
walls and buildings destroyed
quick cuts, close ups, shaky cam
punches to the face
throwing of big, heavy stuff
explosions

in other words - as generic as it can get. I'm hoping to be surprised though.

A throat microphone =/= a voice modulator. The modulated voice would have to be broadcast via a speaker. I can't see a speaker on Batman's cowl even if he does have a throat mic on.

I'm laughing here, because you're assuming there's a huuuuge leap in tech to combine the two. Have you seen the last CES? The fantastical technology is sound. The science fiction logic is sound.

Ghostface from 1996's SCREAM used this:

bVIquQv.jpg

We're in an era of miniaturization, and so because it's not visible, it doesn't exist, despite the fact that a TECH MANUAL is being released for the film:

http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Superman-Dawn-Justice-Manual/dp/1785650602

The exact equivalent to Star Wars 7's visual dictionary that happily, and carefully, describes ships, gadgets, and other fictional things. The cover alone expressly shows us that the cowl is more than mere carbon fibre... Apologies for the tone, but c'mon, this should be the least of your worries...

The very fact that it's a superhuman versus a mortal man, already elevates it from generic. You just described every action film. John Wick was acclaimed for its action, but if you describe it in as many words...

The reason why the Expendables sucks ass is because there is no choreography, there is no stake, nor escalation, nor tension. Good action occurs when there's suspense outside the frame - like a time sensitivity or if a third party is in danger; Amazing Spider-Man 2 incredibly failed at this by randomly inserting an airplane full of civilians. That's bad writing, forcing us to care - even if we desperately want the hero to win. Here, it's not clear cut. I'm not expecting you to be surprised though, as it sounds like you've already made your mind...

Don't forget - a whole lot of scowling and sneering
